Reminder: We will never get as impressive graphical jump as from gen 6 to gen 7 (xbox to xbox 360 example)

Damn Bloodborne still looks insane. The only problem with it is the heavy aliasing. That could be remedied with a PS5 remaster easily, though...

Edit: though I think it was a bit downgraded in the final game compared to the first gif. I had to watch videos of the Cleric Beast fight at night as I don't remember it looking this good and it was indeed not. Nevertheless, it is still a very good looking game.

Yeah, i hope so. Bloodborne really needed a 4K patch, close to. 1080p does this game no justice.

I really wish I liked the From games because damn they look great but the gameplay doesn't do a thing for me. At some point I'll have to watch a let's play once Demons Souls comes out.

Also no jump will blow the mind like the one where we got Mario 64. The jump from 2d to 3d was absolutely mind blowing at the time even if graphically it's weak sauce compared to today's capabilities.

That has more to do with the "extra" dimension. We had better visuals in the arcades for years, prior PS1, N64. But generally speaking i agree, 2D to 3D was huge.

Maybe going 4D? is the next best thing :p

I won't be satisfied until I get smellovision. I demand to smell the mushroom kingdom and it's sewers.

Software 2D to 3D using 3DFX Voodoo cards or when the consoles used 3d Chips for the 1st time was the biggest jump, but the OP is right, it was a big improvement between the Original Xbox and the 360.

Although the 360 port of Crysis wasn't released until 2011, 4 years after the PC version and 9 years after the the 1st Xbox, so it should look at least a little better after nearly 10 years lol.

The 32 bit PS1/N64/Saturn era to the DC/PS2/XB era had a larger jump than the Xbox to XB 360 era. Especially if you compare the PS1 or Saturn which had poor IQ to the Xbox which had the best IQ of consoles in its gen.

Also the 16 bit to 32 bit era where 2D was left behind for 3D was a bigger jump.

I dont want a gfx jump

I want a physics, AI and destruction jump more than anything

That's exactly where 7th generation of consoles excelled as well, it was really a remarkable jump in not just pure visuals, but also physics/ interaction, AI, sound, static screens just won't do the justice.

I think the jump from SNES-N64/PS1 was just as big. I remember playing MMX and then playing legends. I thought that was the best looking game ever. Now I do agree OP that the SD to HD ps2/ps3 was the last big jump in graphics at least for a while. Seeing gears for the first time was mind blowing, Now I'm not really impressed with the lighting or graphics anymore. I care more about gameplay.

2D to 3D is the biggest graphical leap without question. Everything else has been refinement, but this was literally a shift in how graphics were generates and displayed on screen.

Did you even see this?

We won't know for sure yet how much of a jump it'll be. Your comparing a launch game from one gen with a game that came out at the end of the gen after that. The next gen (PS5/XSX) hasn't even started and too many conclusions are being reached.

PERFECTLY said! Let's compare Killzone Shadowfall or what's the best looking game in 2025 on the PS5. Then we'll see how things turned out.
