No. The Series X was my first Xbox console and at first I had fun with gamepass playing the games I missed through the years, but in the end I didn't touch it and I'm glad I managed to sell it last year for a decent price. I have no regrets about owning it for as long as I did, but no way I will buy one again with the situation with brand as it is now. Back to Playstation and Nintendo only. In the past I had a gaming PC as well, but I just can't be bothered with it anymore, with the limited time I have and the amount of time I spend in front of a PC/laptop for my profession.

  • List of Xbox Play Anywhere titles likely gradually getting extended
  • Xbox Elite Series 3 likely being improved with adaptive triggers
  • Existing room for improvement like supporting DACs as Sony and Nintendo do
  • The only console platform to enjoy Game Pass
  • Chance of third party clients like Steam running on future iterations of Xbox consoles

Having owned every generation of Xbox thus far, I can say that I will not buy another Xbox. MSFT are just too far off what I'm looking for these days; it's almost like they've given up.

yes, if Steam games go to the Xbox library. for now, maybe. It's all about Game Pass and a solid lineup of games with series X.

Can't see buying any console next gen. This has been the single worst generation I've lived through. Hopefully the Switch 2 can save it, but I highly doubt it.

Based on how this gen is going, the next one for me is likely just going to be PC + sometimes Switch 2.

Even if those 2 other console boxes somehow pivot back to making their 1st & 2nd party games exclusive again, they just don't make enough games that I truly desire to spend $500 a pop anymore...not to mention physical games being chipped away without the benefits of PC having competing storefronts + key/bundle sites.

At least with Nintendo I get something portable I can take with me, and their 1st party games are just better to me.

I bought a Series X in 2022 off of the promise of Amazing exclusive games.

I had Gamepass for approx. one year and never bought a single game. Once I realized most, if not all of their best exclusives were going to PS5 I sold it to Gamestop for a cool $420.

The only way I'll ever buy a Xbox again is if they 100% have Amazing exclusives. No more purchases based on hopes and promises.

I think I'm going to stick with PC for now.

Anything Xbox offers are already on there.

Honestly didn't play my PS5 much this gen. Had a great time with Switch but their offerings for Switch 2 haven't been my jam.

So mostly likely no console next gen for me as it stands.

(Unless they make like a D&D VR fully featured sandbox exclusive to a platform, but we all know WoTC is a dumpster fire)

Never again. I did not really like a single xbox exclusive I played, they all felt bang average to me or worse.

Gamepass is not for me neither and I find the releases pretty shitty.

My highlights of owning a Series X was to play Panzer Dragoon Orta again. I think that says it all.

Why not. If one enjoys the xbox ecosystem what are they really missing out on? At this point its not like Sony and Nintendo are spitting out must play classics left and right with these dev cycles nowadays. If xbox lost major third party support then it'd be a different story.

Very likely no. Gamepass on PC has been the best value for me. I only bought a Series X for some backwards compatibility and some Gamepass games were not on PC.

They would have to come out with a console that fully supports my library and also adds steam. Aside from that I will likely just stop gaming and move on with my life since I don't really enjoy what gaming has become

I've bought every Xbox console at launch and have had Xbox Live (now Gamepass) since it was in beta. In all likelihood, I won't be getting the next Xbox console (if there is one). I've recently gone back to PC gaming and built a computer that will still be more powerful than the next generation of consoles and will be able to play all the same games. There just isn't a reason to get one anymore in my mind and I find PC gaming better anyway.

I'm not buying another console if this is the exclusive output going forward. I can play the 3rd party stuff on PC for the most part. Astro Bot is great… but it's not what I presume will be 600 - 700 dollars great.

And Microsoft… I'm not convinced they want me to do anything other than just use my PC.

Only PC I'll ever buy is one powered by steam os. After the series s/x is dead (and it's gamepass support), I'm done with MS completely. No xbox, no pc with windows.

Nah. I'm done with console gaming. Specially after 343 completely shit the bed with Halo Infinite and The Coalition delivered us an absolute dumpster fire of a plot in Gears 5, redeemed only by the Hivebusters campaign which was short but absolutely kickass.

Not trusting Microsoft again.

Their self inflicted own goals like the multiple SKUs released, with the lowest spec falsely marketed, which unfortunately hindered the entire generation of games with the Series S.

Hyped games failing to hit the highs expected. Truly expected Starfield to be a 10/10 across the board. As well as Indy and to a lesser extent Hellblade 2.

And the main one, the messaging and total disrespect for their consumers is disgusting.

On other side with Sony, will get the PS6 but maybe later in the gen, but haven't been impressed with anything except Returnal, GT7 and Astrobot. Third party support with SH2, Stellar Blade and Black Monk Wutong, has helped

Glad they have dropped their GaaS push and Jim Ryan is out the door.

But their studios need to be doing much more. Haven't seen much from any of them this generation.

Maybe. Depends what kind of Xbox it is. I don't care about Nintendo and not a big fan of Sony. So it is either PC or Xbox for me. Maybe the next Xbox is a PC with Xbox backwards compatibility.

It's funny to discover this thread now, and my old reply.

The only Xbox I ever bought was Xbox One S, because it was the cheaper 4K blu-ray reader. I sold the game I had with, only play litteraly one time on it when my PC was down and sold the console when I got the PlayStation 5.

But now, I'm really interested in the Xbox Rog Ally X ha ha.

Nah. It's been the second biggest waste of money this generation. Biggest was PSVR2.

I had a Series S for travel, already gave that to a friend. Had one Series X in Polynesia, which seems to have been stolen from storage. Still have one Series X kicking around in London for the remote chance there is an exclusive Halo.

Very happy to have just two fundamentally different consoles going forwards.

If the next console is as portable as the Series X is now, it's powerful, and has Steam+Game Pass, for sure. I want to see how well integrated all of my currently owned Xbox+Steam games are in the menus. I'll get the next PS too. I'm a game fan.

You consider the Series X portable?

It seems like Microsoft has given up and I honestly don't trust them anymore.
I keep reading stuff like this on Gaf, but it's not really making any sense. Are you talking about the consoles? Or the games?

They have 2 consoles available on the market, they have more first party games in development that either Sony or Nintendo and they have a very reasonable priced subscription model. So I'm genuinely interested in what you mean by given up?

It's clear that the brand is going to be platform independent. ROG ally's partnership is only the beginning. Eventually the idea is that Xbox is synonymous with Windows gaming.

It's a SoC pc. I didn't know people hated pc gaming so badly. It has Gamepass and Steam.

I'll probably get one at launch.
I prefer my "big" gaming pc in my office, but I really prefer a console size footprint in my living room. I usually buy all consoles, but with prices like they are, I'll probably just stick with gamepass and steam next year. If you look around online, you can get a year of gamepass for the price of two or three regular priced games.

Doom, Expedition 33, oblivion remaster, metaphor refantazio, black ops, college football, dredge, blue prince, gtav, Indiana jones, ninja gaiden, ….been really getting my money's worth with gamepass lately.

I prefer owning my games, but till they go on sale, gamepass is a hell of a deal lately. It really is a system seller for me. And a console footprint in the living room keeps the wife happy.
