I liked 2016 a lot more, tbh. The experience felt more solid and straightforward, like doom guy himself. Eternal just felt like a weeb's take, all bright colors and fast-moving acrobatics - reminded me more of Q3A than doom.

2016 feels more grittier and more hardcore, while Eternal is more over the top and at times, a bit corny with the story, but I love that they play different. They easily could have made a copy-paste with new levels, but they went the extra mile and added significant changes. I probably enjoyed 2016 a bit more, but Eternal is great too.
