Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Key Takeaways

  • 2K is preparing a BioShock franchise announcement, which will likely happen before the end of summer.
  • Rapture will likely play a significant role in the upcoming announcement, with references to the original 2007 BioShock.
  • Early BioShock 4 screenshots surfaced last July, and a 2K employee mentioned involvement in an unannounced remake last year, fueling speculation.

According to information we've obtained, 2K is preparing an announcement related to the BioShock franchise. While we don't know exactly when it will happen, some of the information suggests it will occur fairly soon, most likely before the end of summer.

At this point, we don't know what the announcement will be about. It could be the reveal of initial details about one of the projects announced several years ago, such as BioShock 4 or the upcoming Netflix movie. Some of the information we've come across also seems to suggest another possibility: a remake or a proper remaster of the original BioShock.

All all the Real Fans ready to pay? 😉

Well they're still around, still say they're working on a new Bioshock and they're hiring

I wonder if Shawn Elliott is still directing

The first Bioshock was so damn good. One of the first games I got on Xbox 360.

I think I remember the Xplay review with Morgan Webb and Adam Sessler, lol. I remember reading the plot online and being shocked those things were somehow communicated in game because I never saw them or really liked the story much in the game, but after reading it online later I was a huge fan.

Infinite was okay but kinda fell off towards the back end for me.

If its nothing like Bio3, i am mega down, but i've been waiting for this to be officially shown for over 7y, and every time there's a rumor that it's coming, it's never shown. Sick of this shit, show it already, the first two titles were easily some of the better titles of the 7th gen.

the plot should be about some stupid company or country rediscovering rapture in modern times and then trying to exploit its treasures and mysteries

System Shock -> BioShock -> ?

I'm still waiting for the next IP in the Shock-verse. 😋 I feel that milking the same setting just gives diminishing returns. Prey was great, don't get me wrong. But to me it just didn't completly capture that magic. Keeping my expectations low for both Judas and whatever this turns out to be. Would love to be suprised by a banger. 🤞

I don't know if it's just me, but these days, i get more excited for new IP's than new entries in other franchises, even when i really like the franchise. Not saying i wont play them, i usually do but i don't really have hype for it.

Probably one remaster I would happily pay for a 1-3 collection in new engine.

Don't change anything just full remaster, ID tech would of been the perfect engine for this.

Wouldn't want this to be a remake, but a proper sequel. There were lots of ideas for cool settings over the years and they should just pick one of them.

I have sources

It will be a Bioshock card game on iOS/Android and a $19.99 download. Starting June 24th!

HYPE TRAIN!!!
That sounds not too bad - but we know in reality it would be F2P with tons of Mtx and pay to win.

We've already had remasters, so hopefully it's something more substantiative. A new entry would be amazing, but not sure if they'll be able to capture what made the original such a gem.

I'd also take an original Bioshock remake, touched up with Bioshock 2's combat system and improved visuals.

I'll scarf it down like a little piggy, whatever it is. Bioshock 1 is my favorite game of all time.

I understand that if it came out as exactly as it is today and I played it for the first time, it wouldn't be my favorite. But in terms of impact a game had on me when first playing it, yes, it's my favorite game of all time.

If levine is not directing, who gives a shit?
Levine can't finish games. He can't ship a product. They always have to call in someone mid-way through development to actually make it into a game that people can buy and play. Like an actual finished, tangible product rather than a never-ending, scope-changing, in flux vertical slice.

As long as we aren't shooting at robot giraffes I'm in. Judas really dropped the ball on that one. The lunatic splicers running around in bioshock felt more tragic as enemies because of the humanity they sacrificed to become these monstrosities.

Would love both BioShock 1 remake and Infinite sequel.

I'd be curious how they'd effectively do an Infinite sequel. Just another timeline? I kind of like the way Burial at Sea sort of just closed the loop and tied back into 1. I'd pay for a remake of 1 with full RT however.
