Report: Marvel’s Wolverine Aims for a 2026 Release; Venom Project Still in Development

Why would I care how many copies R&C or a new IP sell? I want new, original stuff. Sunset Overdrive, Song of the Deep, etc.. etc..

I'd take a low-selling new IP over yet another Marvel game from them any day of the week.
Yeah, you would. Sony fucking won't. It's the entire reason they've actually wasted an entire gen trying to cheese their way to Fortnite successes.

And the reality is that 20 million people other than you are just fine with good Spider-Man games.

Okay? I'm not commenting on the behalf of 20 million other people. I'm commenting on behalf of my own opinions and interests, obviously.

Venom game is still alive.

Insomniac being turned into a Marvel slaving factory for at least 15 years must be one of the saddest things happening to gaming in the last few years
I bought Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, it was a great game.

Unfortunately they barely broke even with the sales of the game.

It's so sad that Insomniac has been degraded to just being a Marvel game studio.
Let's be real.

Insomniac has made a ton of games over the last 20 years. Some Marvel, some not.

They're all 82 - 88 Metascore type games. They're a B tier open world studio that oddly makes a new Ratchet and Clank every 6 or so years. Nothing they do is ever all that interesting or best in class.

Their trajectory is not to become the next Naughty Dog or CDProject Red. They're the In - N - Out of game devs, a volume studio.

As long as their games are good, who cares? Better different IPs but from the same company than being "degraded to just ratchet games with 3 Resistance games sprinkled in the middle" like this:

Like...9 Ratchet games in 10 years lmao. You got those Resistance games saving their asses basically.

How is this any better? At least they are giving us quality Spider-Man games, one Wolverine game, there's a Venom game coming, they still managed to give us a Ratchet game in 2021. Sounds a lot more varied. But this is just me and i'm sure i'm alone since i don't care for Resistance.

Why do I feel a slight negative vibe from your post here? If it were me, I'd consider a studio like that a A tier studio. Not literally best in class, but a slight spot behind it. Their quality and volume speaks for itself.

Wolverine looked amazing. I'm not interested in Marvel whatsoever and thought this was gonna be another one of those borefests but the trailer looked really good. Brutal and visceral, almost like the old school God of War. Lots of cool set pieces too. I hope Insomniac sticks the landing and delivers.

It's weird to devote another whole game to Venom when we've already had one in Spiderman 2.

Granted we didn't get to play as him but we saw him in all his glory, saw all his motivations and actions etc.

We also got to play as symbiote Spiderman and I'm struggling to expect a huge deviation in Venom's combat or traversal abilities for a dedicated game since the two can be very similar in that respect.

Maybe you throw in the strength of Hulk (Ultimate Destruction) or Prototype so you can pick up cars and shit.

I dunno, unless they're going to do the whole Knull storyline it doesn't feel like there's a lot of extra ground to cover in a dedicated Venom game given how much action we've already seen.

I would rather a studio release one 96 Metascore game every 8 years than two 86 Metascore games every 6 years...but that's because I'm not crazy interested in playing these types of games.

In-N-Out is probably making more money than Five Guys, but if I'm only going to eat one hamburger a year, it's going to be at Five Guys.

Interesting view point.....
