Judging that guys story as 100% gospel (lol), it IS a little weird that they'd invite him there and then give him the Christianity spiel for multiple hours. If someone did that to me for, say, Islam, or whatever, I'd be polite but kinda weirded out too. I'd be an adult though and keep my job and just let them know "thank you, but I'm not interested at this time".
Realistically though, you just KNOW this person embellished on the story a bit.
I don't think it should be a bannable offense, but I see where it comes from. Like you said, it seems almost clinical as a term when used, and CAN be used dismissively. I think it's in Incel crowd that ruined the word, as they use it almost 100% dismissively.

Yes? Well, maybe? Honestly, claiming to be trans/gay/bi/enby/whatever is essentially a big smokescreen that keeps you semi-safe from bans. If you want to be a provocative troll, you lean hard that way. No one can ban/punish someone who is LGBTQWTF+ lest they themselves be accused of x-phobia. See: Ketkat drama last year.
I do think there is a large contingent of said folx there naturally, as it is a "safe space" of sorts, but there is a non-insubstantial group who just put up rainbow avatars for brownie points/ban protection/woke projection.

yeah i agree, it could be used in that, but to crucify people who just use it in a sentence, where there is no context of misogyny or sexism or anything even close to it, simply is not fair. most of these people just want something to get outraged about.

I have no problem with them criticizing why the cop was in the locker room to begin with. The problem is there is no consistency on the site. A large amount of that thread would be banned for defending an assault of this nature. I'm half expecting the posters comparing this to other cases of assault by slaps to the butt or grabbing body parts to be banned for "False Equivalencies". Incredibly uneven moderation just leads to people not wanting to use a site.4 pages over there already! I opened the thread here too and it's got 10 posts

That being said, was this spank sexual in nature? I don't think so. It seems more on-level with a push or shove.
But you're right, there is no consistency over there, and that is because they have varying levels of how much they're allowed to hate different people/races/classes/occupations/etc. White cop? He deserved it, and that's allowed. I don't mean to sound like one of the "They hate all white people!" people, but it's honestly true. Pages and pages of them saying it's because he's white and he's harassing black players. They don't know anything about the situation (and neither do I) but they jump to conclusions at the drop of a hat, and the conclusion is always the same.

TBH, I don't even think the Gaming side of ERA is all that great. While it's not nearly as bad as the politics and off-topic threads, much of the same hive-mind, echo-chamber tendencies bleed into the gaming forums quite often. To give an example, I once joked about Sony's First party games having the same type of third person, action gameplay. Yet ERA rigorously tried to argue that "These games are vastly different from each-other!" I mean, yeah I don't mean they're literally the same game, but most of them fit the mold of the "cinematic, third person, action game" template. But jokes are not allowed by MobERA. Criticize Sony, and you're dogpilled with the PlayStation defense force.
Even political shit pops up quite often on ERA's gaming forums, like this nonsense.

Yeah, incels use it in a sentence like "I can never get a female's phone number". It's a weird way to use the word and I think it's a deliberate attempt at dehumanizing women. I can understand the reasoning for it being a poor word choice in that context.
However, at Resetera they do not understand context. So they just heard someone say "blah blah the word female is misogynist" without understanding any of the surrounding context, so now they bitch at people for perfectly fine uses of the word such as "[...] the number of female characters in fighting games".
Like, what, are they supposed to say "woman characters"? What if not all of them are adults yet?

I'm one of the biggest supporters of platform exclusives, and even I don't care about this. Horizon is an old game, so licensing it out for a PC release is a good way to hype up a potential sequel, as well as get people to buy a PlayStation system.
