From an outside perspective, it is what it looks like though, because a freelance journalist can be anything ranging from your work experience to someone that gets paid to write a few articles a year.

For sure. Being freelance can mean a lot of things. It can be something you do by choice. For freedom say, working from home etc. It can also be because employers don't want responsibility. They hire you for a thing and that's all you get. It kinda sucks, because there's no inherent stability and predictability in it.

Also, taxes are more complicated by it, but that's a different matter.

32 left in 2 years is not a turnover, is a bloodbath.

I think the reasons for this are basically two:
-to be a mod you need to have a strong personality, be detached, to avoid users problems become your problem. Users from ERA shows severe social skill issues and even some declared mental problem. They have their inner problem and they risk to absorb problems from others. They can't stand to be a mod for more than 2-3 months;
-I believe some mod genuinely tried to reverse this situation, but they were surrounded by madness. It's a fact Ree is a community based on people who avoid any discussion cause thay believe if you don't agree with them you're against them, so probably they can't get along even with people who think in the same way. I think there are lot of fights everyday behind the wall.

Not only the mod turnover is alarming, but also the percentage of users banned. From what I've heard, it's over 20%. And that doesn't include the not-yet banned users who left for good.

I don't know if the previous thread purged or if this has been posted yet, but this is one of the funniest things I have read in awhile. When in the neverending cycle to one up in virtue signalling, you accidentally go too far and get laughed at by your other peers in the echo chamber.

As far as thread backfires goes and considering where it is, this is pretty gold. When I visited Hiroshima with my then-fiance, we visited the a-bomb dome...we had ridden bikes over from our hotel. In my mind this would be a somber bit of reflection, and as we looked at the building and went into the park we walked our bikes and spoke in soft voices, etc. I thought to treat this place as hallowed ground like when I visited Arlington National Cemetery as a teenager.

Then we get to the big hill covered in grass in the park, a mass grave from the bombing and....yeah Japanese tourists were smiling and laughing and taking pictures in front of it making V symbols and we were like...wat. And we kept walking our bikes around the park and it was the weirdest juxtaposition to see these tourists just having a grand old time on this site that felt like a cemetery to us. We were finally like...ok this is weird, we've seen it, let's go. We walked up to cross a street just as the light turned red and this Japanese biker gang pulled up and 'HEEEEEEEYYYY SEXYY LAAAADYYYYY!!!' comes blasting out of the lead rider's stereo, loooud as fuck and he's just bobbing his head along. Gangnam Style at the a-bomb dome...alrighty then...the rest of the day we just lightened the fuck up and got drunk on 100 yen Strong Zero.
