Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 10 million units worldwide, accompanied by a new clip commemorating this achievement.

The title was confirmed to have sold over nine million units back in January 2025. The original Resident Evil 4 is one of the more iconic entries of this franchise, so it's no surprise that its remake has performed so well.
Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that worldwide sales of Resident Evil 4 surpassed 10 million*1 units in the approximate two years since its 2023 release, making it the fastest title in the series to hit this milestone.

Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the lauded original 2005 title. The reimagined gameplay experience, which carefully preserves the appeal of the original, has garnered strong support from both new and returning fans. It has also received wide critical acclaim from the media and users, resulting in the title winning multiple awards globally, significantly driving ongoing sales growth for the game.

Furthermore, Capcom has successfully executed its long-term catalog sales strategy, as Resident Evil 7 biohazard (released in 2017) and Resident Evil 2 (released in 2019) have both achieved over 15 million cumulative units sold, Resident Evil Village (released in 2023) over 11 million cumulative units, and Resident Evil 3 (released in 2020) over 10 million cumulative units.

Capcom remains firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all stakeholders by leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.

Is RE6 still the best-selling game of the franchise or has it been surpassed?
Resident Evil 2 Remake is the best selling RE title (15M units).

Edit: RE6 has sold 14.3 million units (I combined the sales from all the SKUs).

Cool, it's awesome. I wonder about the iPhone version sales, though...
They should release it on NS2 along with the rest of the series.

The iPhone version hasn't even reached a million sold last time I saw. Apparently tripple a games ported to the iPhone all sold poorly.

1M iPhone RE4 would be a fucking miracle. I would consider 200K a good success honestly.

Is there actually an iPhone version though.

I thought it was universal across Mac, iPad and iPhone.

I guess they can tell which device it was bought on. But surely you'd just buy it on Mac then maybe play it on iPhone when on the train or something.

I was amazed by how good the PS5 Pro version was.

It genuinely compared to playing it on PC. You can have RT, hair strands and unlock the framerate and get over 60fps

I was so sure they couldn't remake RE4 in a way that would do justice to the original, but I was wrong.

RE4R is fantastic. Replayed it back to back until I S ranked Professional. Then did the same on Separate Ways. When they later patched in PSVR2 support for free, that was enough to make me come back for another run.

Exceptional game worthy of 10m sales.

A fantastic game. 10/10 for me, and I have that kind of experience every ten years or so. Glad it's doing well.

Now give us Code: Veronica.

I'm assuming Capcom was expecting much more. The game runs well enough but that type of gaming isn't what people who buy iPhones tend to want.

Had no idea. It was announced at the iPhone 16 Pro reveal as THE game to show what the iPhone could do graphically. So I assumed it was iPhone exclusive.

RE4 is genuienly some of the most fun I've ever had gaming. The only games that have gotten me to that level are OG RE4 and MGSV. Amazing action shooter gameplay.

I hope it takes top spot. Pass up RE2!

I'm surprised the Ashley mods arn't as wild. I think capcom locked her model down somehow because RE3 and 2 have these skimpy as hell outfits.

I'm currently playing it, going for platinum sucks (multiple playthroughs…), but everything else is pretty good. It shows what a Remake can be if done right.

I don't think I've replayed a game as much as RE4. The original many times. I'm on my 3rd play through on the remake.

The fact that they created a Remake of one of the best games ever made and it is this good is just amazing. Well deserved.

Played it right after replaying the GameCube original.

They made a terrific job when it comes to being the same game while also feeling fresh and new.

Glad to see it's doing so well even RE3R got over 10 million and well deserved because it was a very fun RE game even with some missed opportunities.

Really glad to see RE2R and RE7 getting over 15 million.
