I love it when they say it's a 'soulless cash-grab' when you absolutely see how much care and love they put in the game and to the little details. Leon's handgun has 'Kendo' written on it. You don't do that when your game has no 'soul'.
I literally don't know why they do it. If RE4 was my favorite game I would be ECSTATIC to see it becoming prettier, more tense, with more options, more everything. I wouldn't be opposed to it at every second, every moment, nor would I insult its existence at every chance I get. Why are you opposed to better graphics? Better animations? Better character design? Better sound? Better gameplay? Better characterization? Why are you content with X/10 when you can have X+5/10? Why?
I can fully accept you saying that the original holds up even today. I can accept it's still playable and enjoyable. Why can't you accept your favorite game in an even better version? Why are you so opposed to it being improved? Why do you NOT want it to be even better?
Even if you think the remake may not look as good as other modern games (which I disagree, but it's your opinion), how can you think it doesn't look better than the original at least? Why this religious denial? Why do you refuse to accept that tank controls were made for a fixed camera gameplay (due to the constant camera angle changes) and they don't work as well in a shoulder-view shooter?
I mean, if I love the game, WHY on Earth wouldn't I want it to be even better? It's literally insane to me.
I love Demon's Souls and Dead Space. So their remakes improved upon the original in every way imaginable and now they're even BETTER games for me.
Honestly, I don't get it. I mean, sure, you do you, but ... I don't get it. At all.
