Yup. The difference is Naughty Dog could've and should've been able to do more with it based off their talents as well as having the jump from ps4 pro to ps5 to work with. Taken solely on each games merits like you said they're each doing things roughly as good as one another imo. It comes down to preference probably because the art styles are very different anyway. I'd personally say LoU1 is the better looking game, when both games are at their best ...on console anyway. LoU1 can look unbelievably stunning at times especially in its fidelity mode. Graphics scale a lot with resolution.

The only thing Part 1 does better is the in-game animations and detail on the character model. Leon's kinda stiff during the animations in the game play, other than that RE4 remake looks better, IMO of course.

Separate Ways is coming via paid DLC, sucks but better than nothing, I imagine all the cut content will be moved to her campaign.
I've seen a lot of reviews mention how outdated the og 4 is mainly because of its controls but I honestly have to disagree. I played the game for the first time last year and the control 'restrictions' are what actually made the game feel really fresh imo. The combat encounters were designed around the control limitations, and encouraged a strategic playstyle instead of a run and gun one. It also added a lot of tension and I think was actually part of why that game was so good, and still feels unique to this day. Pretty ironic since I really hate how the Ps1 RE games control and camera angles work, considering those things are widely known to be why those games were scary, popular, unique, as well, but yeah.

I love RE4 to death but I usually lose steam around the Island. "More" is a vastly different metric from "better" and I'm 100% okay with them cutting some stuff. (RE3 was a different matter, since that was a much smaller game to begin with and they cut a much larger percentage of the game.)

RE3 had way more missing content.
RE3R is barely a Remake imo. When you look at REmake and RE2R, they basically took the areas and enemies and modernized them. Whereas RE3R, other than Jill and Nemesis, nothing about the areas are recognizable from the Original. It's like they made a completely different game, made it far shorter than the original, and called it a remake of RE3. It was 4 hours long and they charged $60. It was so shameful.

RE4R looked like a muddy mess to me, which I hope gets patched. Certainly felt like a PS4 game in comparison.

Those are some crazy scores! Demo had me lukewarm despite the original being one of my all-time faves, maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind. Not a fan of CAPCOM releasing these piece meal packages though, I want content for my money. It's nice that Mercs will be free in an upcoming update but by then I would have longed moved on from the game with very little chance of jumping back in. Ada should have been included from the start too.
I bought RE8 day 1 and overall finished it feeling kind of disappointed. LOVED RE7 and consider it one of the best in the series so it was all the more surprising that it's sequel didn't click in the same way. RE2R was fantastic but again, felt like a just should have waited for a sale, wanted more content, replaying to speed run etc has never really appealed to me. I love it when they say it's a 'soulless cash-grab' when you absolutely see how much care and love they put in the game and to the little details. Leon's handgun has 'Kendo' written on it. You don't do that when your game has no 'soul'.
I literally don't know why they do it. If RE4 was my favorite game I would be ECSTATIC to see it becoming prettier, more tense, with more options, more everything. I wouldn't be opposed to it at every second, every moment, nor would I insult its existence at every chance I get. Why are you opposed to better graphics? Better animations? Better character design? I love Demon's Souls and Dead Space. So their remakes improved upon the original in every way imaginable and now they're even BETTER games for me.

I mean, if we're gonna get constant remakes of Hollywood movies (Total Recall, Cabin Fever, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Psycho, Planet of the Apes, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Fantastic Four, Footloose…etc), then I see no problem with game-remakes because in most cases the game remakes are better, and it's pretty consistent that the movie-remakes are worse than the original

Anyone know if the game's Ultrawide support was improved in the full version? It looked great during gameplay but anytime control was taken away from Leon and a cutscene played out the game would plop big black bars on the sides of the screen. Its really unfortunate that I spent over a grand on a monitor and still have to deal with this kind of thing even in Triple A games.

Saw a lot of RE4 fanboys complaining. The whole castle area should have been remade. That was the most ridiculous part of the original game. But it looks like it has better atmosphere in the remake.

I will always stand beside the fact that true survival horror let's you run away from most fights. Games that lock you in rooms with enemies most of the time are survival action at best... Nevertheless, I enjoyed what I played in the demo and will buy it. As someone else said: knowing what to expect from the jump helps me accept the game for what it is.

I didn't declare TSH as the definitive source of whether RE4 Remake was great, I simply stated that she was someone who was going into this remake skeptical and came back glowing with praise, if she was the only one praising the game and everyone else was hating it sure you could claim a bias, but the praise is unanimous, with even the most negative reviews still being of the 7/10 variety. And for you to water down her opinion on RE3 remake to "huh duh she only likes it because she's got the hots for the female protagonist" is reductive at best and insulting at worst.
Pointing out that certain people are being childishly critical of a game they HAVEN'T played and in some cases being outright wrong with points like "the game has more cut content than RE3" doesn't make me anything other than someone stating an opinion on a gaming forum, I'm highly excited for the game don't get me wrong but if I end up not enjoying the game upon playing it I'll be honest and upfront about that just like I've always been.
