Kick? You don't get a kick if you do a head shot + melee in RE6.

I'm gonna try the classic head shot + melee in RE6 back again. But i swear i try it the same input, who has always worked in RE4/RE5.

You can kill a non-armed Zombie with? plus Stomp to break his head.

I just tried the Save Editor for Mercs play.
Was able to unlock all stages and characters easily with it.
No clue how to use it for Campaign progress though.

Did you get the stages unlocked for Mercs No Mercy? Mine only unlocked them in regular Mercs, though I'm not sure what the actual unlock process for the No Mercy stages normally is.

Yep they did.
You just have to select the other tab that says no mercy
(I missed it the first time to)

Good ole frustrating Mercs is back. Enemy laying on the ground and I'm desperately trying to stomp his head into oblivion, but there's no attack prompt. Enemy takes a swing at me and I'm preparing to counter the attack but again, no counter prompt.

The camera has to be looking in their direction for the prompts to show up. It's so they can differentiate between whether you're wanting to do a back melee vs a forward one relative to where your character's facing. The counter prompt doesn't preemptively show up fast enough to rely on using it, it's better to just learn its timing.

Game leaves the worst first impression I've ever seen. It wasn't until a few hours in that I started to love it.

lol, it probably takes about an hour to get through the prologue + boring walking section of Leon's campaign. The game does get much better, but I suppose if you really hated it it's not worth bothering. I hope you at least tried mercenaries?

This. The game also requires some experimenting with the controls/mechanics as well. Once you figure everything out it is much more enjoyable.

Yeah, Leon's campaign seems to be the one most under the illusion it's still able to be a horror game. So they front load a bunch of sections trying to be tense and atmospheric when everything surrounding it works better as a faster paced action game. Tripabble zombies and randomly forcing you into losing your balance like on the plane are the worst thing.

You made it a whole hour into the game on your first try? It took me nearly 6 months to make it past the 30 minute mark. I suggest starting on Sherry's campaign

I can echo this sentiment. Complete any chapter, then play it again. You'll be prepared, comfortable, and will start tearing the game apart with confidence. This is an action game. You have to learn what's successful and gain proficiency. I want my first time through a game to be solely about the experience and the atmosphere which made enjoying RE6 require some work (I didn't know what to do and kept losing). Refill your health liberally and take everything in stride.

So is there any other way to fix the brightness?
I tried the borderless window mode and it still looks to dark in spots.
Really odd that both the PS3 and PC versions suffer from this (360 from my play time never got this dark in spots)

Can't wait for the other MP modes to come out (and perhaps sectus' Mercs mod) so we can get some gaf nights going even if they're small.

Why RE6 is worth the price of admission just for the Extra Content:

lolwut? This was random.

If you can't picture being left alone in Mercs No Mercy, it is possible:

ksUWwxS.png

In this bit of profound sadness we could not find anyone to finish the combo with until well after it had dropped. ;_;
Yes, that was major bullshit. From my view:

re6mercs2.png

I scanned the whole area but didn't see his head like I did on the pic. Luckily, I moved forward...

re6mercs3.png

...but "lol" long-range shotgun damage. Couldn't kill him till after the combo had already dropped. I wasn't pleased. He was actually stuck when I found him. It wasn't until I shot him once that he fixed himself.

Same happened to me last night on Creature Workshop. Got stuck at 298 for a minute or so looking for the last two enemies. Those flying bastards get stuck in the walls and under platforms. Couldn't even hit one of them cause he was clipped too far through the wall. Had to use a flash grenade to get him to drop.
Look at this bullshit:

re6mercs1.png

Clipping sons-of-bitches. What's worse is that we were ALL the way above. We were at 5-8 minutes when we started looking for these assholes, I think, and didn't find them till we were at the bottom. They really need to fix these flying things' travel patterns. They get stuck everywhere. On Steel Beast they like to do it under the trains.

Yes, we played Onslaught for quite a while ;) It was extremely fun and some of those matches were awesome as hell. Speaking of:

re6onslaught.png

I was scared to death on this because when he grabbed me, my health was blinking red and I was hearing my heartbeat. Then the "WINNER" screen popped up and I was at ease. I sighed in relief after this, haha.

I'd definitely be interested in playing the other MP modes with fellow GAFfers when the time comes. Honestly, though, since you mentioned Sectus's 5P NM mod... I don't think it'd be as fun. It seems like it'd be way too easy and not as intense as with just two people.

How can you stand in the middle of a group and not get attacked?
I have not palyed Mercs yet so maybe that's different...

Mercs usually starts off with rather non-aggressive enemies who become more aggressive later into the run. I guess creature workshop no mercy is one of the better examples of that.

Solo No Mercy on Creature Workshop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89hplTtWe9M (also shows 2 outfits which was created by someone in the community. a little bit NSFW as the second costume is a nude mod, although I did censor it)

That is the funniest censor I've seen in a good while, haha.
The game seems rather well prepared to handle characters in different costumes than the originals.
I hope the self-imposed shader limitation can be lifted in time to fully fix this.

Do I see you warming up more to Ada 1 from those latest run videos?
Or are you getting your effort's worth for having to do her campaign to unlock? :)

I'm mainly just trying to be varied. Ada1 is fun to use, but I still can't use her crossbow that effectively. When fighting zombies I simply never use normal crossbow bolts ever.

I tend to bring it out for one hit headshots while recovering stamina.
The quickshot is always handy too, since it can interrupt near anything and/or buy a window of invincibility.
You are correct that it feels less handy in zombie maps with regular bolts, since you can navigate most anything with the Ammo Box 50 and the explosive bolts.

I've played a little of Mercs (including No Mercy) and Onslaught with dragonlife yesterday/today - it was fun. He was beating my ass in Onslaught, but I love how in this mode the situation can change dramatically from moment to moment. In one game (the single one that I managed to win :p) I was overrun by monsters, had about 10 combo and saw dragonlife's name rendered in red (meaning he was low on life); so I broke the combo by sending him monsters and few seconds later I won. :D In another game, when I was low on ammo and at the moment had no granades I managed to gather a group of zombies and one of them happened to had a dynamite. One shot and a group of monsters worth of 30-combo were sent to his stage.

Also, Samurai Chris is hot. :D Is there a way (without using mods) to use bonus costumes in the campaign or are they only usable in additional modes?

About campaigns, I still have to finish Chris 4 and all chapters 5. Right now I can say that Jake's campaign is the least enjoyable for me. It's so uneven and full of gimmicks (stealth sections, long snowmobiles ride, undestructable boss, QTE fight, no-weapon parts, run from something sections etc.). I think it is the least coherent out of the three campaigns, because gameplay changes way too often. It helps to mix the campaign with others. I suppose playing just Jake's campaign, from start to finish, would be a chore to me.

"Clunky vehicles sections and rail shooter sections are so FUN in action games!" said no one ever. The end of Chris 3 and the beginning of Jake 4 - UGH!. After the backlash that RE5 received for the chapter 2-3 I have no idea what went through the heads of this game's developers that they included not one, but at least two (and I hope that only two) longer and more boring rail shooter sections; this time they mixed it by making one of the players drive the vehicle. However, that change makes the section even more broken. During Jake 4 chase I played as Sherry and 1) it was hard as hell to even hit anyone with a pistol, 2) there were lengthy sections where there were no enemies to shoot at, so I was just staring at empty street (when I was still in control of Sherry) or had to wait and just watch Jake driving the motorbike while I couldn't do anything. It was so fucking boring and way too long. :/

I'm also disappointed in the story department (yeah, yeah, who cares about story in RE games...). Each scenario lasts about 5-7 hours (so the same as your average action game nowadays) and has a lot of story-related cut-scenes and yet at this point (I finished Leon 4, Jake 4 and Chris 3) I don't feel the story even started to unwrap itself. I just fought with
Derek Simmons
and thought to myself: "That's it? That's the end of this guy? Even fucking Salazar or Krauser had more interactions with main characters in RE4 and were more developed as villains than this guy." Sherry/Jake scenario is even worse, because it's been a full-on escort mission since the very beginning and besides that (and the info about Jake's father, which Capcom spoiled in one of the earliest trailers anyway, and which doesn't seem to affect the plot) nothing happened. At all.
Sherry's boss turned out to be the bad guy from Leon's campaign. Shocker! No, not really.
. Maybe the ending chapters and Ada's campaign will fix this, but at the moment story-wise it really feels more like a spin-off kind of game than a main game. Say what you want about RE5 story, but compared to RE6 story, it was a masterpiece.

On the bright side, Chris 3 and Leon 4 were fun. The ending cut-scene in Leon 4 - so good!

And yeah, Leon should really be banned from getting behind the wheel of anything. I wonder how many people he killed when he tried to "land" the plane. The amount of buildings he crashed into on his way down... Poor people. (and not a single fuck was given from Leon :lol). Also, was it ever mentioned anywhere why neither he nor Helena are affected by Lepotitsa's gas? I can buy into an explanation that characters managed to get out uninfected out of Raccoon City, because they supposedly weren't bitten by zombies or directly exposed to the virus. But here? The virus is spread by air and at least three times both Leon and Helena were directly exposed to the gas. And yet they are still fine.

Played RE6 for an hour or so and uninstalled it. Hated everything about the game.

If you still have the game, give it another try and either start with different scenario or just start playing Mercs. Prologue is a horrible opener (and really doesn't give the game any justice), and the beginning of Leon's campaign is really slow and tries to be too cinematic for its own good. I think Chris' campaign is really the best to start with (if you can stomach that the game was turned into a military bro-shooter), because it quickly puts you into action, where the game really shines, and presents you with a set of interesting enemies. The start of Leon's campaign is too slow, and Jake's puts you in the middle of the action without even giving you time to be accustomed with controls.

Is there a way to choose what melee attack your character does? It seems like it's random but I see the same one from Chris so often.

Depends on enemy state and position you approach the enemy from. Head stagger will get a different melee attack than leg stagger. Like wise if you approach from behind instead.

Also A PIC I took while me and drgonlife were playing.

Excellent run as usual Sectus. Out of curiosity who do you consider the most effective character to use in vanilla Mercs?

I think Jake is generally seen as the best character, with Chris being best for a few stages. The difference between characters isn't nearly as big as in RE5 with Wesker though.

I've been loving Schoolgirl Sherry. The submachine gun and shotty are a great combo, and they never seem to run out of ammo. The red herbs always come in handy too.

Gyrian and I kicked some ass last night. I think we made it to 26th overall on one of the maps. It's crazy how time flies when you're playing this game.

I bet Agent Hunt is going to be a mess to play if that stuff can be used online (not to mention the versus modes).

Yea I really like Sherry as well.
Her load out along with BSAA Chris just works for my playstyle. Which has always been raw power over finesse.

Really hope it doesn't affect the versus modes.
Really looking forward to playing that without issue.

About how hard is it to change? I'd love to get my Sherry in orange and wouldn't mind trying myself.

Can't stand the gnezdo insect swarms in this game, always end up accidentally getting swarmed when trying to kill the queen. The QTE takes far too long no matter how quickly you press it and you lose most of your health, seems easier to just let them drain all your health then kill the queen from last stand.

After beating Leon's, Chris's and Jake's campaigns, this is probably my candidate for most underrated game of the generation. All of the problematic little niggles and annoyances don't change how good the core experience of this game is. The dodging/melee mechanics are just too awesome and the game is packed full of memorable set pieces and bosses at well over 20 hours.

For whatever reason, RE.NET Windows is missing Ada costume 3 to unlock. ;_;
Why won't you take my RE.NET points, Capcom? Or better yet, why won't you sync my accounts across platforms? What a miss...

If you don't care about getting them another way, the save unlocker has access to those costumes.

It's hilarious that 4 of the 5 women in this game all have cleavage in their costume designs. How lazy can their character designers/director be?
