I'd like to see a new edition of RE6 that makes fundamental changes to the game.
Keep the core combat and mobility mechanics, but add:
- A skippable tutorial mode that actually explains the intricacies of the controls
- For any forced "slow walking" parts (i.e. the start of Leon's campaign), make it like The Last of Us when you run indoors, where it's more of a light jog. The atmosphere should naturally slow most people down, anyways, so they'll still get the intended effect.
- Add stretches where nothing happens. Like the hallway in the castle with the fluttering curtains in RE4. Just give players moments where they can take in the scenic detail, manage their inventory, reload and heal, etc.
- I know QTEs can be set to "auto" now, but they'd be fine if they just telegraphed them with advanced notice — no split-second "gotcha" bullshit — and if they made them more intuitive to do. (Climbing a rope with Leon was difficult to understand the first time)
- Jake's Ch. 2, where they're searching for data chips in the whiteout of a blizzard, is probably the least fun I've ever had playing action RE. They need to make it easier to find your way through the storm. It should be a fun and fair challenge, not an exercise in frustration.
