Lance Reddick is a great actor, but even he wouldn't be able to save this if the material sucks.
The chick all the way to the right (the tall caramel-skinned one wearing the white top) is pretty hot. (EDIT: isn't she also the Forspoken chick??)

Which makes Lance Reddick's casting the more confusing.
From the games... Albert Wesker is like the very definition of "problematic white guy." He's the villain of the series. In subtle ways his whiteness is very much part of his villainy. So you'd think you'd want a white actor to portray Wesker.
Unless Reddick's character is somehow a Wesker clone made in a lab and he's supposed to be a "good" Wesker... or something.

If they want diversity, they could have just made a live action of RE Outbreak. It would have been more believable. It would have fit into any kind of shift in story they want too.
Instead they're using classic RE characters and butchering them or worse making them second fiddle in their own series.

Because money, unfortunately. They assume that more people will tune in because of the Resident Evil name alone. Well, and, yeah, they're right.
Because if they swapped out everything RE related and gave it an original name, not nearly as many people would bother giving it a chance.

While I can't speak on behalf of that film as I haven't seen it, at least there were a ton of things in the trailers that you recognized from RE 1/2. So it felt more RE than this IMO.
This series is just, "What if the Resident Evil we knew didn't exist, and this is how it would be as a brand new story."

Something aesthetically looking similar to its source isn't indicative of quality. Trust me, that movie was shite, I spent hard cash to see it in the cinema.
