Resident Evil Revelaitons |OT| 3D Jill Sandwiches

I've spotted multiple typos. Capcom's engrish department is up to shit.

I want the next RE to have another blonde Jill. She looked hot blonde. Okay, I'll stop

I think her best outfit is the snow one - i actually like the look of the character (who wouldn't) other than the exaggerated lips ( they put such lips even on Jill in the beta artworks. ;_;)

It's just that they really pictured her as a whore D: if you pick the MGS or No More Heroes games not every sexy character talks about her sexy ass.

So a woman that uses her sex appeal is a whore now? I don't get it. If anything Jessica finally puts an end to this retarded Resident Evil (and action games in general) bullshit, which has all of the main female characters in skin tight and revealing outfits, but they still act like an asexual monk.

I gotta say, I enjoyed the side characters in this game a lot more than the one dimensional main characters. Chris and Jill are about as deep as a sheet of paper, and have nothing to offer outside of looks and series legacy. Now Parker, Raymond and Keith on the other hand are great support characters, that are actually interesting as they aren't your stereotypical boring hero design. People may like them or not, but there is no denying that they have much more character than the main protagonists in this game.

Sure, Jessica isn't exactly deep either, but at least it's a step in a direction where a female character isn't either a sexy monk, or a porno wannabe slut.

Now Rachel on the other hand...

Hell mode is the best mode.

Except for the side missions where you have to play with the standard equipment weapons. Given the bullet sponge nature of the enemies those side missions are a real chore on Hell mode. But the main ship segments, holy balls, those are amazing on Hell. There is a slight rearrangement of items and some enemies, and it keeps you on your toes the whole time through^^

Man, this game just keeps getting better. I'm genuinely surprised by how good this really is.

I'm not sure I really understand where the average review scores are coming from. This is easily one of the finest games on the 3DS and a game that would be great on a console as well. It's really well done across the board.

I was looking at the Metacritic for the game and there are LOADS of 90+ scores, at least 25/61. So it's definitely getting the score I think it deserves in quite a lot of cases.

It might be my memory fooling me, but I think I remember one or two reviews saying they didn't actually get time with the game's online mode -- but even then, I can't understand the scores either. It's excellent. At least an 8/10 for me, and probably 9/10 for my own personal tastes.

You guys who've been playing Raid Mode -- I only started last night, played a couple of games at Level 3 but with a much stronger host, and was getting owned near the end... have you guys been levelling up offline or doing it all online? I haven't really read the instructions - and don't really know where I can find them... what do the icons by enemies mean? And how do I use the chatter/talk on CPP? People keep offering to buy me lunch and I can't respond :(

Basically mate, I did 75% of Raid offline alone, and when I got about 5 levels into Abyss, I realised it was going to be impossible to S rank the levels onwards, so joined some online games.

Icons mean different things, the blue running man means the enemies are fast, the fist means they are strong (more HP) etc...

The talking is done by pressing UP on the D-Pad and pressing Y/X/A/B.

There are barks in Raid mode?! Shiet.

Good to see this game getting some of the love it deserves, by the way.

Got back from a lengthy trip last night and finally got to play this game. Overall, it's a great experience that feels more like old-school RE and plays more like RE4. Great to see something like this coming from Capcom in 2012, and on a handheld no less.

However, I think folks in this thread have gone waaaaay over the top on the graphics. "Looks like a console game!" "Wouldn't be out of place on PS360!" IMHO, it's not close to that. In fact, the graphics are in this weird in-between realm -- the character models and small objects look great while most of the other texture work is kinda blurry. For example, in that early room before the first enemy, there's a circuit breaker next to a drink machine: The cables in the box look great, all shiny PICA-highlighted, but they're on top of a background texture that's an N64-esque smear.

This doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the game in any way, but I wouldn't want folks who haven't picked it up yet to get the wrong idea. Great looking handheld game but the gulf with consoles is quite large.

Why don't you join us on Raid. A handful of GAFers was playing this every night over the last week and it's a blast in coop. I will repost the FC list and chat room link later today.
I'm actually kind of surprised how small the enthusiasm is for playing this game with other GAFers, while MK7 just took off and still has a healthy community. Is RE really that niche?

This, Mario Kart 7 and SM3DS are the games tempting me to buy a 3DS. This game particularly looks awesome. The mood of the first games is there, it almost feels like the first game seeing the trailers.

A well designed "femme fatale" =/= whore.

Jessica and Rachel are pretty much the same to me.

The first games were perfect in the way they had attractive women - and come on, almost every gamer likes those - without having them to act like Jessica or to have Rachel's outfit, which is a little different.

What we have in Revelations is on the same level as Soul Calibur 3, 4 and 5 and other blatantly fanservicy stuff, it's stuff like that that doesn't let me take the plot very seriously.

Different p.o.v: i liked Sheva more; sexy and while her outfit was still out of place, she didn't talk about her sweet ass.

It's not a new topic and not really worth talking about for days, it's like comparing the dignity Samus had in Metroid Prime and the "lol dignity" she had in Other M.

Changing topic: I WANT TO CHANGE MY FILE NAME!!
Oh right, i already said that, but seriously, from not being able to delete save files to not being able to change your name?

Did you guys notice that, as soon as Episode 4 (spoilers) you can
go in the pool you previously filled in episode 3 or something? the exploration is definitely cool.

2) there's a mistake in the prologue... The ship is said to be in the Mediterranean sea, but when Jill's on the beach scanning the corpses she says that Chris is "in the middle of the Ocean"... WTF?

Is the Mediterranean Sea not a part of The Ocean?

Not sure what you talking about, but now I remember I purified a pool and never came back to see what's beyond that area.

Holy crap I never went back there either!

I don't suppose its possible to do episode selection after you beat the game? Have I gotta go through New Game+ to check it out?

Did you finish it already? You should be able to go there in the episode you play as Parker (chapter 10 or 11, don't remember).

Well, the couple of 6's reviews I have read pretty much reduce to "this should be on a console".

Just got my 3DS and the game. Seems pretty good so far, but damn the game hurts my hands to play. Can't find a comfortable way to hold the console. And the 3D while cool, is annoying, constant little shifts causing the image to flicker or blur for any little movement I make. Wonder if it's more comfortable with the Circle pad

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
Am I the only one playing with the Gyro Sensor?

It sucks that I have to turn the 3D off but wow it is so much better then the other control schemes. Fricken awesome technology, gets me really excited for 3DS/Vita/Wii U shooters. I have a strange feeling though the the corridor environments of RE:R help hide some the limatations is has with turning quickly, which kind of worries me.....

Btw, Chapter 4 was actually kind of scary (compared to the rest of the game so far). Had to use all five green herbs.

LOL. Saw this in the first two minutes of playing the game. Who the hell works in Capcom's English department? Shit like this is just embarrassing, especially after the box spine typo.

Yes that made me cringe. Sadly I was cringing several more times throughout campaign mode.

Got to the final boss but gave up after he killed me twice. Will try again tomorrow...it's just not a fun fight at all imo =/

Oh, he killed me many more times than that when I got to him last night :(. Finally gave it up as a bad job and will try again tonight. Anyone got any tips? I don't find it a fun fight either :(.

Whats more annoying is how can Jill say that? She's never seen a mutation like this before? Girl, you lived through Arklay Mansion and Racoon City....you really havent seen anything like this before?

I haven't beat him yet but his first two attack patterns are easy as pie. I just can't figure out the third section.

The first stage you just wait for him to shine at you. Use the shotgun and hope you have a lot of ammo and aim for his heart everytime. On the first stage he will either appear in front or directly behind you and charge an attack. Just shoot his chest and he will back off. Load as many bullets as you can into his heart until he dissapears again.

The second stage there will be two of him side by side charging up for an attack. Just shoot the one with the purple smoke coming out of his mouth because that is the real one. After a while he will switch it up and the fake one will appear in front of you and the real one will be behind you so hurry and turn around and shoot. He'll also trick you by having the fake one attack you and then he will immediately appear infront and attack as well. These first two stages are pretty easy and you can beat it without taking any damage.

The third stage I can't beat yet. He just charges at you constantly and is constantly attacking. I've got no strategy yet other than dodge and run for your life and when the real one appears attack him for all you got. Also when he is about to hit you there is no way you can run away from him for some reason.

I thought the last boss was really challenging, yet still fun.

You really need to get good at the dodge mechanic; otherwise, he will just chip away at you.

Other tips:

1. Shooting the spot on his back does WAY more damage.
2. When he starts to split into two images, the one breathing purple is the real one.
3. Also, go for speed, over damage, here. As long as you shoot him before he hits you, he will stumble, leaving you plenty of time to shoot him.

Firstly:
Back away and shoot until you see his head begin to light up, as it starts lighting - reload your weapon (Z2 + B on CPP), then begin to run forwards... for the first stage of this fight, I think the AI tries to head you off and give you a good wack by putting him right in front of you when you run forwards like this... so give him a blast of fire to the upper chest / head area as soon as he reappears. Do this a few times and he gets a step angrier, and starts his hallucination stage... highlight the next spoiler for advice on that

Second stage - hallucinations:
Same as before, keep a distance and hit him until you see his head begin to light up. At this point he's going to re-appear around you with another copy. Again, when you know he's going to disappear, it might be a good chance to quickly reload. The real one to hit is the one with purple smoke or something coming from the upper chest / head area -- the other one *can't* hurt you, so ignore it, don't try to get out of its way. A lot of the time if the fake one appeared in front of me and I couldn't see the real one, he was right behind me, so doing the 180 move, quickly looking slightly up and letting off a round was sufficient in those cases. Hit his weak spot hard when he reappears and you'll stun him, leaving an opening for more fire or maybe even a charged melee. After being successful at this for a while, he'll let out another roar, and this time he's angry - next spoiler for more

Rage stage:
He'll charge you. You can get out of the way of this and possibly use the dodge move (I was too panicky to pull it off), just hit him with relentless fire power, if you've got grenades - now might be a good time to use em. There are two herbs in the room, one on a chair to one of the sides, and the other in the far corner (on the right, I believe) -- make sure you've picked those up.

If your ammo is low, or - if you decide your weapons aren't packing a big enough punch - there's a
weapons crate in the room. I used it to take ALL of the upgrades off ALL of my guns (even the unequipped ones, some people might not realise that upgrades are left on their unequipped gear) -- and then powered up the weapons I had ammo for as much as possible with the available components.

It still took me a couple of attempts, but I'd feel okay about facing him again.

Oh and as you hit him more and more, he does stagger and become slower towards the end, so keep up the pressure and you'll get there!

Finally got some serious sit down time with the game, loved every minute of it. Nice mixture of action and classic. Doesn't necessarily reinvent the wheel of either, but does them well enough and for a portable title it's astounding.

As for Raid Mode... Every mission S ranked on Chasm, Trench and Abyss difficulty including the bonus Ghost Ship. Unlocked everything the game has to offer.

That was too fast, DLC me... I wish. :(

If anyone wants to play some RAID MODE PM me with Friend Codes.

I just picked this up yesterday, as someone who's been playing RE since 1996, this game is a real treat. I wish RE6 would go more in this direction, as in an actual survival horror game.

So should I start playing Raid Mode before I finish the game, or after?

Is there spoilers, and do either effect the other (items-wise)? For example, can I carry over my upgrades and weapons from the single player to Raid Mode, and vice versa?

I agree with your advice but don't run forward on the first stage. He will appear directly in front or behind you everytime. You can shoot him in the heart and he will stagger back everytime. If you try running he'll hit you everytime and you'll be stuck on the ground.

You still have to do campaign stuff right or did you beat all of that too?
