Resident Evil Revelaitons |OT| 3D Jill Sandwiches

I have to say that with all the talk about this game being closer to the classic RE roots and the survival aspects I finished the game with a crapload of ammo. I don't even think I used the rifle and magnum for more than five minutes combined. Then again, I spent a lot of time scanning every nook and I ended up using the handgun for the most part.

Raid Mode bonus mission is pretty much like classic in that they do not supply you with ammo at all that frequently, but key enemies hold the item to get to the next area.

Wow, don't know if it's been mentioned but the icon for this game is really bad with jaggies.

I've read that turning 3D off helps with that, but doesn't do anything in this case. Is it dependent on the game (has AA or not) and the home screen doesn't have AA?

I don't see it being so bad with any other icon (apart from RE demo), though I don't have too many icons that aren't just static images.

All the built-in icons look pretty good though.

No big deal for me - I just noticed it and... It's pretty glaringly jaggy. =)

Anyone else getting an audio glitch in chapter 6? It seems that at the end of each segment, the audio is dropping out on the dialogue.
I once put the 3ds into sleep mode while in a cutscene. Sync took a major nosedive when i continued the game. I'm talking a 2 or 3 second gap. Restarted the game after a savepoint and everything was fine again. Still strange.

Parker actually made me jump once. I went through a door and started scanning the room and he all of a sudden appeared in front of me. I jumped and scared my wife who was reading next to me. =)

(Plenty of legit scares too. Good stuff.)

yes I had this problem with parker too
was it?
during the found you moments where you both split up?

Generally I don't understand all the complaints about bosses and enemies. Just got to chapter 11 and I haven't had the same problems others are having.

First boss -
Ok I kind of agree here, guy's a sponge at this part of the game because you don't have a lot of parts and equipment to use on him. But I think this is partly my fault, I abused the window to force him to run back and forth so I didn't get to use the red barrels, and I didn't use grenades either. I ran out of both rifle and shotgun ammo on him. The later encounter with two of him was easy by comparison.

Second boss -
She's very creepy and tough to fight due to her speed and extremely close quarters...but it doesn't take all that much to make her run from you each time. It kept the fight interesting and made it feel like you were being stalked. Subsequent encounters are tough/long because she doesn't run away between shots, but those are all optional fights.

Third boss -
I LOVED the big shellfish guy. Very classic fight, and no, it didn't feel like it took too long. Maybe it felt better to me because I was able to dodge him pretty well and I had fun using a variety of weapons against him - grenades, sniping his weak point, shotgun etc. He was imposing and exciting rather than frustrating.

Water monsters -
The roach looking things...weren't frustrating or difficult at all. Maybe I just stumbled across the way to take care of them easily, and most people don't? When I saw them coming I'd wait for them to pop up in front of me and shotgun them, three hits and they're dead. My shotgun was slotted for more damage and stopping power, maybe that's what it takes. Sometimes they'd get in the tackle before I'd be able to hit them but overall they were pretty easy. And when I encountered them underwater, I just swam past. Occasionally I'd get grabbed, hammer Y, and escape without taking any damage. I didn't even use a single grenade!

I have a couple more:

thank you

If anyone is having trouble S ranking abyss, its probably because you need to kill more enemies. I have runs where I avoided most things and got an A, whilst shooting everything netted me an s-rank.

Finally beaten the campaign last night!
Man I loved it. I loved the pace, the scenario, the new characters, the storytelling... I even enjoyed the ending. :D
What an amazing Resident Evil, in my opinion.

Speaking about the final bossfight: yeah, it was tough but not as cheap as I initially suspected... I appreciated how it (kinda) forced me to use all my best weapons and skills (and tricks), in order to kill
the tyrant.

Now, I'll give Raid mode a try.

Mock if old, but I thought this trolling Amazon review of RE:R (the only one on the site that's not 5 stars) was side-splittingly hilarious:

First off, why is this game on the 3DS? Only little kids play handhelds. Real gamers play on XBox 360. But I digress. Anyway, you play as Jill and Chris, two supporting characters from the movies. Where is Alice at? You can't have a game based on a movie without your main character. You pretty much just go around and shoot monsters. Unlike good shooting games, like COD, you have limited ammo. And your health doesn't regenerate, either. You have to use herbs, which are limited.

Whole thing at http://www.amazon.com/Resident-Evil-Revelations-Nintendo-3DS/product-reviews/B0050SVLI2/ref=cm_cr_dp_hist_1?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&filterBy=addOneStar

In other news, I'm waaaaay behind the GAF median on progress on this game, but the Mayday boss fight was epic.

Haven't slept yet. Been up all night playing through the campaign. Made it from Chapter 5 to 8. Holy fuck, this game is amaaaaaaaazing.
The underwater segment, I found a bit frustrating due to wonky swimming controls
, but that's honestly a drop in the ocean (HA!) compared to my love for the rest of the game.

Also, the soundtrack. I've never been one for Resident Evil music, but I might just have to buy the OST for Revelations. SO GOOD.

So, I'm at the part where I need to
get to the emergency communications room, but I can't seem to get the shutter to open. I already went up and got the pool pump started, so I don't know what else to do.
:<

Halp meh GAF!

You need to get to the promenade. It's in the main hall. Just look for the signs next to each door. Also there is a yellow marker on your map that shows you where to go next.

Hmm that's strange, I just complete the first boss FINALLY after a number of deaths. It must have been about 6 or 7 (yeah, I'm bad) but for some reason the stats shown at the end of the episode says that I didn't die at all!

Is this some glitch, or do they generously not count boss encounters in your death tally? Sorry if this has already been asked.

Amazing. Best is the first sentence:

First off, I'm sorry I haven't been writing reviews in a while. I kind of got lazy. But after playing this horrible game, it has given me the motivation to start tearing apart everything awful once again.

Yes please, keep them coming. Maybe IGN is hiring at the moment :)

Edit: ok... maybe a few years from now:

I think if you just reload your savedata, instead of continuing from the 'you are dead' screen, you don't get any death count.

But wait for better replies, I may be wrong.

Any tips for the
boss? I just died. :(

Just lure him to one of the many red barrels, then shoot it, go up and hold the melee button to fully charge your melee attack. Also, shoot his human head, as that's his weak point. A good tactic is also to lure him to difficult terrain. He isn't particularly clever to use the stairs right away, so take advantage of corners and long stretches like the bridge.

It is very important that you dispose of some of the projectile shooting Ooze first. Let Parker getting hit by the standard Ooze and don't help him as he can't die.

It's also worth noting that one of the best places to confront him is in the room where you first meet him. He can't vault over the window like the normal Ooze, so you can take advantage of that and keep him under control, along with the rest of the Ooze.

how did you get the cover replacement?? I e-mailed Capcom to the email address posted in their blog and sent my info but they never replied back -_-

Yeah I always used that as a last resort solution, and it also works with the normal Ooze. Using the damage immunity during the jumps you can get some neat shots in and do some knife damage while the Ooze crawl over it.

I won't lie; the invincibility frames from picking up an item have saved my ass more times than I can count.

I'm really enjoying this game. It's funny that RE is by far my favorite game on the system. The graphics, the music and the atmosphere on unmatched right now. I liked Mario 3DS a bit but this is on another level.

Every store I went to this weekend has multiple empty rows labeled for RE: Revelations. Is the reason that all these copies have disappeared because they got recalled for the typo or something, or is it because the game is just really damn popular?

Hoping it's the latter.

More or less because of the typo.
Watch more pop up when the 2nd batch of games arrive.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Do someone know when the new shipment will come? I so want this to have a good showing at least for the first month in US. Good numbers, 300k at least. Hoping this will happen, since it's just so good. :D

That is one of the reasons I like him. He looks more like a normal, average person instead of a Hollywood, action hero, ridiculously good looking game character type.

Yeah, I liked that design approach in Dead Rising and I like it now.

Just read through both games' credits and some of the character artists/modelers from Dead Rising worked on Revelaitons, so that probably explains why I got the same feeling.

Not recalled as far as I know. Just popular I guess.

Yeah, I doubt they'd recall the games for a typo. Considering the game's buzz on the Internet, though, it wouldn't surprise me that the game is just plain selling well. You've got millions of 3DS owners with very little to choose from, and along comes this RE game with crazy high production values, and they lowered the price from its original $50. This might end up being an accidental system seller.

Well, at least Capcom didn't leave an IGN watermark on the cover this time...

Now that you mention it, it did feel that way.
Not a bad thing.

Perhaps not recalled, but it did end up getting a pretty low initial shipment from what I can tell. The typo is probably to blame for that, but I guess we'll see what happens when the (corrected) second shipment shows up.

If it's in the mission select, it means that a bounty is available in that one. Check your Missions to see who you're going after.

If the purple crown is instead on top of an enemy, that designates them as a boss monster.

Oh bless you :).

I was unaware of the bounty until you mentioned it. I had seen those items in the missions section but misunderstood their purpose until your post. You see, I have two 3DSes so hop from one to the other when the battery dies. That explains why I have noticed the odd enemy with my Revelaitons username above their head!

lol

You can swim in the water now.
Just go in and swim through the tunnels to reach various areas of the room.

Last time I checked Jill refused to go in the water. Any idea how long the decontamination takes?

MAYDAY MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

This part of the campaign is fucking creepy. o_o

Yes, I love that audio loop. I had it as an earworm the other day and even started doing the voice! :/

just wait.....fouuunnnndddd yooooouuuuuu

Heh. Re-played that section last night and it creeped me out more this time than the first, funnily enough.

Parker actually made me jump once. I went through a door and started scanning the room and he all of a sudden appeared in front of me. I jumped and scared my wife who was reading next to me. =)

Indeed; I have jumped at several points, even when I have been half expecting something. However, it is one of those games that really draws me into its world rather than one where I can just go through on auto-pilot. That said, I probably wouldn't bother with it if that were the case.

Anyone else getting an audio glitch in chapter 6? It seems that at the end of each segment, the audio is dropping out on the dialogue.

I've had several instances where the audio and visuals are out of sync.

If it makes you feel any better he may have killed me even more times than that the first time I tackled him. However, on my second playthrough he went down without a scratch :).

Yes, it's refreshing. I can't take Chris seriously as a character in this game as he's such a stiff. I much prefer the geek and the brother and the aforementioned Parker
