Do danger zones go away if you complete a chapter? I'm at the end of Chapter 4, just not sure if I want to leave before I at least try to beat those.

Also, main mission of Ch 4 = :|

They don't, no. Once they've appeared they're there until you clear them regardless of how many chapters you advance.

So I've been switching around my weapons and leveling up everyone evenly like a good boy.

My question is, does it really matter WHO has the machine gun, and the handguns, etc? I mean, I don't see a "stats" page for the characters. Is one character "better" at being a machinegunner than another?

I think I might buy RoF this week, I'm intrigued.
I haven't played the new Final Fantasy yet but this seems like something I'm more likely to enjoy.
Feel free to sell me on it if you want.

Did you guys know that you can also change who acts second in the tri-attack by pressing triangle? I only found that out after about 50 hours in the game! :eek:l

Is not really the order you select, but the direction the characters will run to, which makes the order change. But yeah, I figure that out during the demo, I thought everybody knew. :lol

OK another question:

Terminal Effects...

I just got to the Forest of Idols in Chapter 3, and there's a sweet terminal nearby that DOUBLES the charge rate, and a couple others nearby that double item drop rate and rare drop rate. I have read that you can chain lots of these terminals together, and the easiest way to do this is with the GREEN hexes. At this point I only have a lot of RED hexes. Should I use my red hexes now so I will have a slightly easier time in the Forest of Idols, or would it be better to wait? I guess my main question is, how easy is it to get more colored hexes when I run out?

you won't get green hexes yet, i recommend activating the the ones in that level first... specially the ones that affect item drop rate.

Also, is it ok to stack the effects of "doubles item drop rate" and "doubles rare item drop rate?" Like, one doesn't override the other or anything, right?

Just beat the game. 64 hours 35 minutes! I really, really, really enjoyed the game. Without a doubt, it's tri-Ace's best game yet. It's so unique, and so consistent. I think a lot of the design in the game took a lot of guts to pull off, since it's so different from the norm and in many ways this is a very risky project. Glad to see the team pulled it off.

Nice.

OK last question for tonight. Do normal enemies drop rare items too, or is it just bosses?

Depends on the enemy, but I believe most enemies have a rare drop. For human enemies, normal drops are regular hexes, but the rare drop is a colored hex. I'm not 100% certain, but the colored hexes definitely drop less than the normal ones. For certain enemy types the drops also depend on which body parts you break off, etc.

Awesome.

Congrats on finishing the game. Hopefully I will join the ranks one day too. I'm moving so slowly at the moment, 11 hours in, and only on Chapter 3. And I haven't even really tinkered around with weapon upgrading or building parts for my guns. I think I'm being too stingy with my items and stuff... I always do that in RPGs, I hoard.

Oy, time really passes when you play this game. I alternate between getting through sidequests and story missions and going to the arena every now and then too.

Just under 17 hours now in Ch5, maxed out the first 8 ranks in the Arena. Soooooo good.

RoF focuses more on weapon customization than finding new weapons. There is really no point in hoarding gun parts materials. You should start upgrading asap.

I know what you mean,I was like noooo, not one of these...i`m currently in suspend mode in this but I can almost tell I won`t make it already....also I need to find a solo ennemy trick for another sidequest, setting up a tri attack wastes too much Basels in that fight so I can`t quite make it yet.

Alright. I've been reading this thread and I official want this, the battle system sounds fun and the art style is really cool. I think I'll pick it up tomorrow if I can finish GOW3 tonight.
One question: Is there a lot of sidequests and stuff to do outside of the main quest? This is important to me in an RPG.

There's looooooooooooooots of sidequests. Plus an arena against a group of people with about 50 ranks, I think.

If that's what you got banned for then I say it was worth it.

Has he met Drinky?

Can I get some help on the story boss of Ch 5?
Whenever he freezes someone it's pretty much game over since he stays focused on them.

Do I need some accessories or some items to stock?

The
Yeti? Just have everyone hide behind the barrier to avoid the first attack and then use incendiary ammo with the machine gun (you should have the 2x fire damage connected to the dungeon).
You should be able to kill it in a character turn or two.

D'oh, I knew I should've checked the terminal stuff before diving in there. D:

Should get that stuff up before you start the next chapter, you'll need it. Well, you don't, but it'll help immensely.

Not really, it all depends you can change the order to which character to move first just select them by pressing R1/L1 or RB/LB before decided which one to use first.

In my case I have 1st character with HG and Grenades, 2nd with MG and Bullet Box, 3rd with HG and MG. That way I have 2 characters with MG if I need them, if not I just use 2 HG and 1 MG to break the HP bar faster.

Yeah, know about the order of who goes first, but now I'm confused... you can duel wield handgun and machine gun? Or you're saying that one character can switch between the two during combat?

Try to juggle him, that worked for me. Also Hollow Bullets are good against it IIRC.

If all else fails there's a Fire damage doubled terminal very near that place... I don't know if that's the Silver Canon dungeon you are talking about, though. I think it is...

Yes silver canyon but the second time, the boss with the chainsaw. :lol
Fire didn't seem to work against him and I do like 1 damage to him ^^;

Anyway I'm back with a old save at chapter 5 with the full team to grind a little/sidequest, ect...

You always get your full party back when you return to base after completing the chapters mission.

It's not true for chapter 6 and it's very hard without tri-attack. :/

We posted help for this boss several times before in this thread. He's a real bitch. :lol

Basically what you have to learn in this mission, is how to effectively play a 2-man team without being able to abuse tri-attacks or hero actions too much. It's a very interesting battle. There's a piece of cover near the start on the right. That will soon be your best friend. Learn to position the two characters on opposite sides of the boss, and use one to lure him towards the cover, and move around it, while using normal non-hero attacks to scratch the boss up with as many charges as possible. With some luck, a few of these attacks will also result in him being juggled, and as such cancel any attack he's already charging. Even if his attacks are not cancelled, if you're moving properly, the cover should absorb most of the attacks, and prevent you from being frozen by his beam.

With that strategy in mind, there are two ways to approach this battle:

a) You can equip one character with a SMG and a HG at the same time, so you can switch on the fly and convert any scratch damage into direct damage immediately with the same character in the same direction.

b) You can use a SMG + Grenade character and a dual HG character. A good way to play this is to use the grenades to break off all the armor after applying scratch damage, then when he's fully exposed, you can scratch him from any direction and have the other character apply that damage immediately from a distance.

I said after you finish the main mission for the chapter, meaning you would have to beat the boss achieve the objective and return to the base in order to get missing party members back. So you can just wait to do the side missions, arena or optional battles till then.

this game is confusing as balls.

First random battle ( on my way to the arena to learn) I got my ass beat hard.

Goddam..coming from press x to win to this is something else. Pretty fun tho.

Ch 6 Boss was pretty hard, the trick is that you run just as fast or faster than him so you can kite.

Also, use the respawns for hero actions, you can get 3 at least from the two body parts and the kill.
