You're joking.

Please tell me you're joking.

Nov 5, 1999, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA: Attorney Frank Totti looks over papers while his client Frances Mountain sorts out Beanie Babies with her ex-husband Harold Mountain in Judge Gerald Hardcastle's Family Courtroom in Las Vegas November 5. The couple, who were divorced four months ago, were ordered to divide up the collection valued at $2,500 to $5000 but were unable to do so by themselves. The collection was ordered spread on the court floor and divided up one by one under the supervision of Family Court Judge Hardcastle.

Maple the Bear was the first to go.

Every single pokemon
1 out of every 1000 being a shiny
Every variation of every pokemon (unown forms, vivillon patterns, etc. Lets not forget in typical nintendo fashion the vivillon patterns will be REGION specific like the games. Different deerling/sawsbuck season forms will be only available in certain times of the year)

"Unfortunately, once the product has been purchased, the consumer has the right to do with it what they want."

What a strange thing to say. :)

Regarding Pokemon - depending on the type of game, there could be a few figure Amiibos, and the rest in card/pog/etc form. All of them in figure form is not gonna happen :)

Pretty obvious there will be many amiibo waves. The question is how much is "many"
Im expecting they'll make more amiibo waves after the SSB collection, maybe just for certain games, so "many" isn't shocking to me and it shouldn't be to anyone else, or course Nintendo will be making more waves, it's doing well.

Personally though, I think one of the appeals of amiibo is that they have use in a wide variety of games, if they start to make it so only certain newer amiibos have use in newer games, I think that will be a bad move really.

You know, Smash was a weird one to start with, since most of the Nintendo characters worth the plastic they're molded with are already coming out, so how do with get people to buy the next iteration of Amiibo without making say certain Mario Amiibo have exclusive features? Because as it stands, even the Super Mario Line-up work exactly the same as the Smash counterparts. Gold paint it is.

Like others have said, Pokémon is the cash mine here.

I think flooding shops with smaller Pokemon Amiibo, similar in size to the Rumble U NFC figures would do well, but that's hardly a platform, that's just throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks.

They'll have different poses, but you can only save data from one game on an amiibo at a time. Nintendo really wants you to have a smash Mario, a Mario party Mario, etc.

Don't worry, by regular supply and many waves they mean they'll continue to drown stores under tidal waves of unwanted Link, Peach and Yoshi Amiibo every few weeks.

I'm thinking it will be Pokkén that uses it too.

I currently have every amiibo available so far with the Mario Party 10 line and Gold Mario on order. :)

Can't wait for all the on disc DLC in future Nintendo games to come. /s

I understand where you're coming from but at least you get something cool and or collectable with this "DLC". Better than going back to horse armor or Evolve type DLC(BLUE GUNS!!!).

I have wave 1-3 + mario series complete, but I don't know if I can do any more, I have a hard time collecting things if I cant collect them all. Rushing to Gamestop on my break is not healthy.

I think this is more a limitation of the NFC storage than anything. You can only put so much data on something that doesn't have a battery holding a charge.

Skylanders and DI have the benefit of only working with one game, so they can store something more abstracted and smaller that the game knows will be there. With the Amiibos it seems you can store whatever you want, hence the one-game's data limitation.

I have no idea what tags the skylanders/DI/amiibo use but commonly NFC tags generally only can store about 45-60 user-writeable bytes (user in this case being developers). As you go up it gets $_$

What if they sold power discs that attached to the bottom, so the same amiibo could have multiple saves?

Bumps up the cost noticeably.

A better solution would be the Wii U or 3DS could "hold" the info for one game when another game wants to use it.

So say you have one that Smash is using, and Animal Crossing wants it, so Animal Crossing requests to write it. The Wii U exports the data off the Amiibo and stores it, then write's AC's data to it.

edit: what i'm basically saying here is the problems are solveable, but people may not like the price of the solutions.

They better not start blind bagging this stuff. Or the cards.
The return of my childhood
because I don't collect pokemon cards anymore but I want smash cards now

You just gave Nintendo the wonderful idea of packaging all 719 regular Pokemon amiibo, all 28 Unown amiibo and all 48 mega evolution Pokemon amiibo (all with shiny and alternate-coloring variants - yeah, Basculin, Vivillon and others, I'm talking about you) in sealed boxes so that you won't know what you're getting when you buy them at retail or online until you open the box. Congratulations!

They'll be coming soon. Think Ninty said Amiibo's in card form will be hitting by the end of the year.
Give me my holographics pls.

Plot twist: *takes off mask* I was Bill Trinen all along
plot twist twist: *takes off second mask* I'm not Bill Trinen

Ugh... I already have 4. Maybe it's a good thing they're all so rare; at $13+ a pop for a non-scalper price, I'd go broke!

I don't care as long as they release a new wave of Shulks because he got sold out in like 5 seconds.

Other Xenoblade characters would be very welcome too.
