This looks like it could be interesting. It's currently only coming to PC but they are trying to get it to consoles as well.

I remember playing WWF WrestleFest every Saturday when I was in Junior H.S. and would spend my entire $10 allowance on it. Literally, every Saturday. Loved WrestleFest.

Will definitely look into RetroMania if it releases on consoles.

give me create a wrestler, the ability to share the creations online, and tables, ladders, and chairs matches.

looks cool.

Holy crap. Road Warriors. Man, I could enjoy a bit of this. Would love to see some ringside managers too like Jim Cornette and Sunny.

I loved WrestleFest (even though my favorite arcade wrestling game was Konami's The Main Event). WrestleFest had two strong things going for it - one was the graphics and second was the license tie in. While I doubt this new version will be as deep as Fire Pro, I will still buy it day one.

Thank you, OP for this post. I wasn't aware of it.

RetroMania Wrestling Adds New Mode for National Wrestling Alliance

The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) may have new ownership but it still holds respect for heritage. Take the NWA World Championship, it is revered as it should be. Ten Pounds of Gold started as a series of videos with then champion Tim Storm. The series was intended to educate newer fans of the heritage of the title and the man holding it. The series was meant to elevate the title, promotion, and those pursuing the title to a revered level. Now RetroMania Wrestling, by Retrosoft Studios, is continuing that reverence.

Introducing Ten Pounds of Gold Mode

Announced earlier today, the Ten Pounds of Gold mode is being added to RetroMania Wrestling. It is still scheduled to launch later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam for Windows.

Announcements like this are what helps build excitement and interest in titles. Especially titles that do not have tons of marketing power behind them.

In Ten Pounds of Gold mode Nick Aldis is the reigning National Wrestling Alliance champion. Reaching the mountaintop allows that athlete to be the next reigning NWA World Championship. Retrosoft Studios specifically mention WCW/NOW Revenge as a reference for fans. Interesting.

Making wrestling games fun again

It is no secret that WWE 2K20 is less than stellar. What are wrestling fans to do? Sure, there is allegedly an All Elite Wrestling (AEW) game coming (anyone seen pics of it?). There is also the venerable Fire Pro Wrestling franchise but that is more simulation.
RetroMania Wrestling is the direct sequel of Wrestlefest from 1991. Continuing the action fans remember from that game is key. Pick up and play controls, modes that are fun and interesting matter. Then there are the many new athletes, arenas, modes, etc. There are even plans to have a Create-A-Wrestler mode available, all depending on success leading of the game. Want it? Support it. Simple.

Want to get in on the fun? Pre-order your copy of RetroMania Wrestling on Nintendo Switch and Steam. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 fans, you will have to wait for the release due to how those digital stores operate. For more wrestling game coverage check out our coverage here and on our sister site, Retro Gaming Magazine for older games.

If you have not watched Ten Pounds of Gold on YouTube yet, here is a link to the first episode.

Thx for this OP!! Used to love running the original in the arcade. Haven't played a good wrestling game since the N64 days. I'll def check this out. Also any current wrestling games you all recommend??

They all suck.

But if you have a decent enough PC and a USB controller you can easily find websites that will let you play N64 games. Of course you should own a copy of any game you will play because emulation is bad and in no way shape or form am I promoting emulation or piracy.

And its not to hard to get No Mercy to run on a 400$ Desktop you may have bought 2 or 3 years ago.

8 Player local multiplayer! Wow!
Why would it have splitscreen though? Seems like it would all just play on one screen?

Thx man!! I have a strong PC so emulation shouldn't be an issue. I always forget about this. I'll check it out, thx man!!

Forget a desktop, I play the N64 AKI games on my Android with my Xbox controller and the clip that I use for XCloud. I can even have the cheats that I used to use via my Gameshark, such as P1 Always Special.

(Btw, gaming was so much more fun back when I could use Game Genie or Gameshark with everything!)

I have seen it running on things like Fire Sticks. I also think if you have a good enough android box you could probably run it too, but those things have shitty software so YMMV.

There are also a ton of mods out there for No Mercy but I never got em to work. There is one that is basically a sequel to WCW/NWO Revenge called WCW Feel the Bang.

Haha, I was just playing Wrestlefest the other day with my brother in law after adding RetroArch to his SNES classic. Does anyone know if there's any skill whatsoever to that game when it comes to grapples and reversals and such, or is it just random button mashing? Lol, it's still fun though.

I have to say it also kinda still looks better than this new thingie, except for the funky skipped-leg-day anatomy on every wrestler of course. And we also have Fire Pro, that will be hard to top even though it's kinda more about the show aspect than playing it like a zanny fighting game I guess.

Wow! WCW Feel the Bang (strange name btw) looks cool. And it is recent, too! I'll have to figure out how to get it working.

It was DDPs old catch phrase. I guess kinda strange to go with DDP but i guess his yoga stuff is maybe more popular than WCW now a days lol

This is cool and all but I'd rather have something with high production values, we already have firepro and their thousands of created characters to fill this void IMO.

Looks really promising. As someone who's been consuming a lot of ECW material lately, I'm glad to see so much representation from the ex-organization. I'd love to see more ECW content, but the assets of ECW are owned by WWE so I imagine the rights to arenas and stuff may be difficult to acquire.

I love the old school arcade style graphics. There's a quality and authenticity to it that could pass for an arcade game from the late 80's or early 90's. The pixel art is excellent.

This is not trying to compete with the more technical moves of games like Fire Pro Wrestling. As awesome as Fire Pro is, it is a different style game altogether. Since it's stated in the OP that it's a spiritual successor to WWF Wrestlefest( also stated on Retrosoft's website) and all anyone should expect from this is an arcade style game with great arcade gameplay and great pixel graphics.

Found out about this last week, and I'm sort of glad I hadn't known about it sooner because the wait would have been more difficult.

WrestleFest is one of my favorite games ever made. While I don't know most of these wrestlers, I'm still picking it up on day one.

The dev updates are also really cool, it really does seem like a labor of love.

Word. As much as I liked Fire Pro Wrestling World, it'll be nice to have a less time consuming game.

I never really managed to wrap my head around fire pro - it seems like a clearly well-crafted game but for some reason I could never get the hang of the fighting mechanics.
