Returnal's peak player count is 5642 on Steam!

it'll get higher as more PC gamers realize how fun this game is

new IP
Not cheap.
Requirement is not consider easy entry.

Hard, although i do agree returnal; is a fun game.

Didn't Uncharted just come out and Last of us is dropping in a few weeks? Hardly surprising people aren't tripping over themselves to play $60 lesbian granny roguelite game.

Why don't they at least spread these out a bit?

It's been extremely overpriced since launch. Also has multiple game design issues.

There's a lot there to like, but they need to take what's there and make a better game next time. Housemarque usually is solid, so I'm confident they'll improve.

60 dollars....

Sony has two options, release day and date with the ps5 or launch at half the price...you don't get both.

The last hurrah is last of us part 1....if that doesnt do big numbers...with the boost of the TV show too....Then they need to re evaluate if they are dedicated to this PC initiative or not.

Shame that it has a pretty unfortunate timing and close to no marketing. Their big games like spider-man and god of war can get away with that, but not this game.
I bet it would most likely sell way more on pc than it did on console had this launched day one since there was so few of PS5s and games like this are popular on pc.

I hope it will do well over a longer time period, not a great start though.
Funny that this is still almost 10x better than Sackboys peak.

60€ is a bit too much to ask for a roguelite imo, specially with so many games coming out this month, and specially considering how big the backlog for the average PC player might be.

If they sell for half price 2 years after PS5 launch, will that increase sales by 2?

How long you gonna give it then? A week, month... or a year?
You do realize there have been plenty of games on Steam (or elsewhere) that have started with low CCU's and have become extremely successful over time?

I'm not saying this automatically applies to Returnal but to just dismiss it entirely because of initial peak numbers just reeks of "hot take" posting.

It's a stuttering mess so I avoided it. I would have gladly bought it. If they fix it I'll buy it. I want it to be successful.

Obviously it depends on the hardware but for me it's been fine really and the whole "stuttering mess" is kind of hyperbolic. It's far from a perfect port mind you but it's hardly "unplayable" or anything.

Isn't this more than high rush ever achieved? And it cost the double. Plus is a 2 year old game.
I think is pretty successful all things considered

Game doesn't deserve that, but I'm sure it will come around once the Potter effect starts to wear off.

Returnal is freaking fantastic...if you survive the initial beat up you're bond to get :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Given how its two years old the pricing makes zero sense.

I would buy it at £20-30 - the going rate for the game on eBay.

I would feel confident if this was 20 to 30 dollars that number would be two to three times bigger and then you create more word of mouth....more buzz...more positivity around the title and could then create a snowball effect to create more sales.

PC gamers aren't warriors like console gamers and don't care about platform loyalty. Most of them interested already bought a PS5 for this game.

Hifi's peak is 6k
On Steam, but that game is also available on Gamepass PC.

It's also a new game, from a much cooler genre than roguelites (which the PC space is already full of) and it's priced much more reasonabily. So yeah imo no wonder it has more people playing it.

ya it sucks...game is addictive as fuck. lmao, i am 10 hrs in and still in the first biome...shits hard but so good to die and come back to redo it. lol, and you keep getting better. game of the year for me.

Hey I'm one of those Steam Players. Returnal is...a brutal game at first. I both enjoyed and was frustrated by it. How in the hell did people play this on controller?

Took me 3 tries to get past the first boss. After that with the new enemy types in the desert area...I found myself gambling (and losing miserably) on health upgrades that might just kill you haha.

I do think it should have been like 50 bucks though. Horizon wasn't full price when they brought it over was it? I didn't care about the price honestly...I had already waited too long.

hey, that works too.
the type of game this is, i feel like it's got more staying power than the other Sony games. Just look at other roguelites and their player counts
Yeah... about that. From the impressions i've seen of the game, although a great third person shooter, isn't strong as a roguelite. I feel like it'll stay behind other roguelit/kes like Hades or Risk of Rain 2.
