So sorry America (I know we will all feel the fallout from this guy), we thought we had it bad with Tony Abbott as our leader in Australia, but this guy is a fucking lunatic.

Something something similar shit in history with certain overly-compared-to villain... The thing that surprises me is how fast its happening. I thought this kind of slip into totalitarian dictatorship would be gradual.

I don't think it's a good idea to antagonize scientists .They suffered through graduate school, post-doc, etc, and in my experience many of them came out of it with as big an ego as this orange asshole. If he thinks he can just sweep all their findings under the rug he is going to be surprised.

My research is tangentially related to renewable energy. I'm not American but I'll fight this motherfucker to the death if I have to.

He doesn't have to. With republicans in control they completely ignore the research and can use the power of the fossil fuel industry to tarnish the names of the people against him.

Out government's stability is heavily based on everyone playing by the rules. When President's like Nixon and Trump start do shady shit our system is surprisingly weak.

The crazy shit is that Trump is literally doing everything the right accused Obama of doing for years.

By which I mean the songs will be spread through the tatters of post-apocalyptic society by mouth, for thousands of years, in the deserts of what is now Canada, because there will be no more electricity.

Honestly, I didn't have much hope that we'd recover from global warming in any meaningful way far before Trump came onto the political scene. But now that global warming is being enacted into law ... welp.

It's good that we've answered the question about what our civilization's Great Filter is: it's Trump.
