Rez - $49.99 at GameQuestDirect.com

I have purchased a few things from that site, I had good experiences with them. Friendly, courteous and quick shipping. Great place to go for hard-to-find older games (bought both Oracles games from them).

They really do have their finger on the pulse of game pricing though, in general, but I'm a bit surprised they have Rez priced as low as it is. Maybe they have a policy of not pricing above the highest regular retail price.

There's one of these stores downstairs from one of my company's stores... they carry probably the best selection of stuff, of any "major" game retailer. The employees are worse than gamestop employees as far as elitism goes, but they're not beating you over the head with preorder offers and whatnot, so it's okay.

Found Ninja Five-O there, as well as some NGPC stuff, so they're good in my book.

Whats so interesting about this game?

is it rare or something

I've heard of it before

It's a really great music-shooter game, it has its deficiencies (it's easy and short) but it's more than made up for by the intensity of the experience. The bigger your TV and the louder your speakers, the more you will love this game. Sega printed about 21,000 copies and then discontinued it. Prices soared. And now they plummet. :(

I traded a PSP for two sealed copies of Rez, which is why I'm so bummed about this.

If the game has the white security seal at the top, then yes, it's a reprint.

You mean if it doesn't have a security seal, it's a reprint

Edit: shut up, you

If it's a reprint, then why doesn't EB/etc have it?

That's a good point. Gamestop got a bunch of reprints, like Gitaroo-Man, Persona 2, Rhapsody, and Cubivore. There's no sign that they got this one. It may just be that someone inside GQD decided to hoard ~50 copies of Rez and is now releasing them.

it doesn't make much sense for someone to hoard them and then unload them for only $50

GQD also got their hands on reprints of RE2 & 3 before they started appearing at other retailers

IIRC, GQD got all the reprinted games a couple weeks before EB/GS did, so it's possible it hasn't trickled down to them yet.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they got them on the same day. The used Rez on Gamestop still shows up as "backordered" and none are shipping out to B&M stores.

Gamequestdirect received their RE2/3 reprints earlier than Gamestop.

Hmm, I emailed them regarding shipping to Canada and I received one prompt reply right after saying yes but I'll need them to send me a quote and pay via Paypal.
Have yet to get a reply since then though. :/

In regards to the price, if this is a reprint, is $49.99 + $10.00 shipping a good price for a reprint or would the reprints retail for cheap (say $30)?

If you wait you could get it for less. If I see it at a Fry's I'll let you guys know - I'll at least get some small recompense for getting screwed by this reprint.

Okay - I have the Japanese DC version. What's the difference on the US PS2 version? Worth getting this?

Well, the PS2 version (even the US one) supports the Trance Vibrator. But you can play the game in VGA with the DC version. I don't think you need the PS2 version, unless you can see in the future and see that the game will regain the value it's losing with the reprint...

Just sell 'em off quickly

At my Gamestop there were copies of Xenogears and Persona 2 out but they were 40 and 30 bucks respectively. I don't see the major chains cutting the price too much of at all (except Fry's i guess)

Nah, Fry's hasn't discounted any of the re-releases. Hamilton still has two copies of Disgaea for $49.99.

Tonight? I'll sell you my sealed one, original print, for $100. Otherwise it'll have to wait until I see how much Fry's charges.

Non-greatest hits Xenogears?!
I really want to own a Non-GH Xenogears and perhaps Persona 2 (liked the art style when I was watching my friend play the Japanese version). :/

Anyway, they emailed me back... it will be $59.99 USD for it to be shipped to me.
Now should I go through with this or wait (I'm in Canada, no Fry's here)?

I meant I want two copies from GameQuestDirect which would be $100 + all associated shipping costs...

EDIT:

Leshita: So they'll ship to Canada? Awesome, I just sent them an email too. Make sure that they don't use UPS, otherwise you'll pay brokerage fees!

I have tried ordering games to resell, and if the shipping is even a mite slow, it's not worth it. If Fry's has it, it'll get to you faster. If someone else wants to step up to the plate, they are free to do so...

Edit: I meant if Fry's has it, I can buy it and ship it out to you faster than if I ordered through GQD first.

There are no Fry's in Canada. I think they ship to Canada though.......

Yup, no USP either, Shipping Global Priority. Just paid for it, turned out to be ~$72 CDN through the crappy PayPal exchange rate.

What do you mean?

Leshita: Did you do all the ordering via email?

I mean by the time I get the games, Ebay is flooded with them and I can't get the same resale value out of them. And on the same tack, anyone else can get them for a lower price.

Yeah, they will just send you the PayPal link to pay for the item after you email them telling them what you would like to order.

Oh, I wasn't planning on reselling immediately. Maybe keep a copy for myself or as a present. The other, auction it off after I've long forgotten about it, then remember again I have it :lol

Great, hopefully they reply soon!

Ordered 2 copies. It's one of my favorite games of all time and I only have it for DC... so this is amazing =]

Gonna keep one for myself and give one to my best friend for xmas - he's the one who got me into trance music in the first place so him of all people should play the game.
