I'm all for science and discovery changing the way we live, improving things.

I have to nope all the way out of this one though. Fuck this.

First, the reminder of crickets being a snack in some places when I go to 7-11 today (just brazenly for sale on the front counter, straight up box full of salted crickets) and now scientific speculation on the nutritional benefits of "roach milk."

Food is awesome. Food is weird. Food is.... I'm never eating a goddamn thing that came from a roach.

Shows how bad the food industry is, you get so many arguments that eating animals is vital for nutrients etc. yet we will kill things just to change the colour of a food item.
Cochineal had been used by the Aztec and Maya for nearly 1000 years before Spanish invasion.
Lac from the wax beetle was used in India for over 2000 years. It is still used, both as dye and varnish (shellac).

If you eat chocolate you are probably eating part of a roach or insect. About 8 different parts to be precise.

Now y'all saying Nope but when Starbucks introduces the Roachy Frappucino Vanilla Salted Caramel Latte y'all be posting it on yo Instagram like no tomorrow.

"Just don't expect farmers to open up vast new cockroach ranches where cockroach-pokes rope, wrangle and milk the insects.

Scientists sequenced the genes for the milk protein to reproduce the substance in a lab."

Stop ignoring this part.
Get me them crystals now, I want em.

is there a vegan option?
Well, it's produced in a lab, from a protein. If the ethical considerations are what bug you, I don't think that's a problem.

That said, its a study, not R&D, something like this is not going to come out for quote a while.

Eh, not sure why people are so disgusted by the idea. We already happily eat hot dogs, but do you know what those are made of? Do you want to know?

Over my dead fucking body. I'm ok with the rest of creatures on earth, but my humanity is not devalued enough to survive from eating a fucking, disgusting, repulsive, dirty cockfuckingroach. I'd rather die.
