The 66-year-old singer walked away from a 35-date tour that would have paid the rock group nearly $800 million — ripping up the contract in front of stunned promoters, the Mirror newspaper reported Sunday.

British tycoon Sir Richard Branson had planned to reunite the Stairway to Heaven rockers and promoters had even gotten the green light from the other band members.

The mega deal would have paid Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones roughly $300 million apiece, before taxes, according to The Mirror.

Group members lobbied hard for Plant to join in but he wouldn’t change his mind.

“They have tried to talk him round but there is no chance,” a source close to the group told the Mirror. “His mind is made up and that’s that.”

That is a lot of money.

FFS I should just give up making threads.

This time I use Google search and it didn't come up.

Don't feel bad man, I'll say something...

I don't blame the guy, he's already living comfortably doing the kind of music he wants to. Also, his pipes didn't sound so hot even when he did that live No Quarter reunion deal that was in 94. Pop in the Zepp DVD, load up the Royal Albert Hall performance from '70 and enjoy it the way it was.

His voice is pretty shit up now anyway I think he did us all a favor.
Sucks to say it, but I think that is the hard truth. No sure why he personally doesn't want to do it, but an live performances or his solo work in the past 10 or 15 years has sounded rough. Plants early solo work throughout the 80s was fantastic though!
