Rock Band 4 |OT| We're Putting The Rock Band Back Together

My impossible, never going to happen song of Daft Punk I want in Rock Band is Giorgio by Moroder. The vocals would be silly as hell, but the later half of the song would be amazing on every other instrument.

That's probably reason enough for it not to get in. I agree though, it would be an awesome song to play.

Oh man, Daft Punk is finally in Rock Band. It may be among my least favorite of their songs, but I'll buy it in support of future Daft Punk DLC. I need Robot Rock, One More Time, Aerodynamic... shit, just give me full album DLC.

Also, Hey Ya is going to be great for parties.

Well, they're really trying. Sample heavy songs like Get Lucky and Hey Ya are fucking hard as shit to clear.
Uhm, Get Lucky and Hey Ya aren't sample-heavy songs. According to the pretty damn reliable WhoSampled.com both songs contain zero samples of other artists. Hell, in case of Get Lucky I know for a fact that it doesn't contain a single sample since I have the booklet makes no mention of samples on Get Lucky.

It doesn't matter if they sampled other artists or used sample libraries, both of those make it harder to clear, but I stand corrected.

Sample libraries are generally pretty easy to clear IIRC, those samples are often rights-free anyway.

Though I do believe that Get Lucky is all played by musicians, that was Daft Punk's "experiment" with Random Access Memories (and also one of the reasons why lots of old school fans really disliked the album). They even hired funky legend Nile Rodgers to play the guitar on Get Lucky.

Yeah, they had session musicians do all their beats for this album. The only sample I can remember is the recording in "Contact".

I really, REALLY want to play the guitar part of Aerodynamic.

please say the motorhead song is overkill, loved playing that on drums in guitar hero

Fuck yeah for "Get Lucky" and "Hey Ya". Pretty sure I requested about half of RAM lol. Also looking forward to whatever Royal Blood song that ends up being and REALLY curious what Masaya Matsuura song they got.

Definitely down for Get Lucky and Hey Ya. I'm also down for the Bruno Mars, Motorhead, Joan Jett, and Royal Blood songs down the line.

I'm fairly confident that the J. Geils Band song is gonna be Love Stinks, especially since Valentine's Day is around the corner.

When you five star all of the songs for the achievement does it have to all be on the same instrument? Also how do you get the stage presents achievement? I can only ever get 4.

PR doesn't mention creating set lists in quick play. Really that's the only feature I'm waiting for, so I hope it makes it.

Scores from play a show mode registering on the leaderboards is cool. Will that work for on tour as well or are there too many bonuses to keep the scores fair?

Kinda tempted to get all three. I know they'd be crowd pleasers, and I didn't even realize that last song was Kelly Clarkson. Frankly, I'm shocked they didn't get Hey Ya & Get Lucky as on-disc tracks.

Also onboard for whatever Royal Blood song they pick out. It'll probably be Figure It Out, but it's all good.

A couple of things to note.

With Hey Ya and Get Lucky it does the fade out on both songs at the end.

Also, while playing guitar on Hey Ya, if you miss notes for some reason the songs sound quality drops significantly. I dunno why.

Also Get Lucky is the radio edit.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I wanted the album intro for that delicious Nile Rodgers guitar.

At least we got some Daft Punk. I'll just have to be content with that.

2 amazing minutes... gone :(

Radio version is a bummer, but it's not always up to them. They could be stuck with what the labels decide/give them to work with.

As we remember with that butchered version of "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies". Sometimes we get radio versions. Sometimes we get lucky. Except in this case. Except for the fact that we did get Get Lucky.

Phrasing is weird.

Anyway, the fact that there's a fadeout is disappointing. I was hoping that they'd stop that, it sucked in All The Rage Back Home. This is definitely a different Harmonix from the "BIG ROCK ENDING EVERYTHING" Harmonix of past days.

Anyway, SCEE update. This week's tracks are up. 90s Grunge and Disturbed are not. Nirvana Pack 02 isn't PS4 compatible either. Not much has changed.

In case of Get Lucky getting the radio ain't that bad, considering that the album version is just a longer version of the same song. It's not like they replaced words like all those bad radio edits.

If we don't get the patch today, that backlog in combination with SCEE's lack of motivation is getting me worried...

The guitar would've been hellish at 6 minutes long. Just played through it and I could see some people finding the charting incredibly annoying. Messed up a few times and missed my FC!

Get Lucky is pain on guitar. I did manage to find my groove after a while, but man, I really don't like these kind of charts. It's fun on bass though!

EDIT: I also managed to find the one song with a guitar solo but no freestyle solos, 20th Century Boy by T.Rex from the RB3 export.

Alright, it's time for Shift Breaker's "Too much free time" section! I've had a look through the UK PSN web store, which should be the same across the other EU stores to see what's left to go over. Delisted tracks aren't included unless they appear available for purchase, nor are exports and RBN for more obvious reasons and it doesn't include tracks that should be available to download on PS4 but won't for whatever reason as I won't know what they are. All I know is that Crushcrushcrush now works, so try other ones and see if they work now.

No. of items: 1145

Other things to note

- Check in-game stores whenever possible. Doesn't matter whether it's RB1, Blitz, whatever. If it doesn't have a price on the web store it should be available in-game. The first Green Day pack just isn't on the web store at all. Not just unavailable for purchase, straight up unavailable. Neither is Bring Me to Life, the latter of which I purchased through the Blitz store and is PS4 compatible.
- In relation to this, Wikipedia is your friend. There is a complete list of DLC which I have used many times. I type in "Complete list" and it's one of the first options to come up. If you want to see what's available that you want to catch up on, or what you may have forgot that you previously purchased (large amount of DLC first world problems) that's the place to go.
- Not all songs have gone up to £1.69. Sugar Magnolia, Superbeast, Strange Times are all still £0.69. Check and see if something you want is still cheap. It might not be for long.
- Smells Like Teen Spirit is on the store twice. Once as just the PS3 version, once as a PS3/PS4 bundle. I only own the pack however, so I'm unable to check if you can get the latter for free if you own the former.
- I miss New Fang. :(

That's the early DLC looked at. I'll work on the RB3 DLC later/tomorrow as I'm pretty sure that there's more of it currently missing, unless someone gets there first. But when it comes to frantically checking what old DLC has been newly released checking these in particular should be easier than frantically checking every single page to see what's now listed as free. Although I'd recommend doing that every now and then, I found Thrasher and Shockwave for free when going through this. If either number up top change, then it's time to see what's new.

Bonus prediction: The Generation X song will be "Dancing with Myself". It was listed as Billy Idol on GH5, but that particular version was done by his former band, Generation X. At least, according to Spotify.

And now, I think I'll actually play some games and listen to music, rather than just discussing them.

...Nah, that's not the GAF way.

I noticed that too, but the ten or so songs that I tried to buy became €1.99 at checkout.

I own the single, and it doesn't work. What I don't know is, if the version on the store that's marked 'PS3|PS4' actually works on PS4, since it doesn't have album art like all the other songs.

One dude on the RB forums (M-aster) has made a very helpful spreadsheet for the missing songs on the EU PSN store, might save you some work ;)

A bunch of songs don't have RB4 art but still work, Madhouse is one of them.

Also, thanks for the heads up on the spreadsheet. I figured that something was out there, just wasn't sure where to look. Still, the list making wasn't a total loss. Managed to bag some DLC I missed, and given the small amount of items it hardly took long.

I am so excited to see what Harmonix is doing to the sound mix. It's been one of my biggest gripes with the game since launch. Volume is all over the place, bass is weak, audience isn't in rear, etc.

1.04 is up - on Euro PSN at least. Can't say I expected that.

Also it's 3.8Gig, dayum.
