GH is gigantic, I'm not saying it's going anywhere. I'm just guessing that at some point there will be a shift in public perception as to which franchise is the 'Madden' of music games.

its funny a bunch of companies have tried to beat Madden and yet Madden is still the "Madden" of Football games. So thats a funny example to make

What kind of a stool do yall use to play the drums?

I got this patio plastic chair that just doesnt cut it, or maybe I suck (more likely)

I have an actual drum stool, It's a surprisingly functional piece of furniture

You can't compare a guitar game (especially one that people have had four years to buy a controller for) with a band game.

I agree that the stronger 'brand' is Guitar Hero right now. But Rock Band has the stronger experience. It the only game that gets better every week

If you pay. You are basically saying that the a $60 copy of Guitar Hero can't compete with the $200 you spent on DLC after spending $180 on Rock Band. Its a stupid comparison.

Which is the better game is a stupid arguement for obvious reasons. There's no doubt which I'll prefer and which you'll prefer. My point is that DLC will not be the deciding factor in which franchise "wins".

Ummm... You do know that the 2K/ESPN Football games scared Madden so much that they bought NFL exclusivity? :lol

21 million songs sold from the Entertainment Weekly article. That makes RB DLC more popular than GH:80s. Take that GH spinoffs!

Take a look at which system GH is selling best on and then come back and say Rock Band DLC is gonna make it more successful.
I wasn't aware that full-band GHWT was coming out for PS2 but I checked EBs website and it is. Yeah, that extra 3-4 million WW sales will pretty much mean ActiBlizz can claim that GH is far more popular than RB.

ChrisGoldstein said:
Yeah those drums make my RB drums obsolete.

And if tool is in the game, well then GH > RB
Yeah, I still can't believe Tool isn't in any of these games yet. They fit the hardcore gamer demographic so well, too.

Like I said, I'm talking about the band games. I'm saying the 200ish dollar copy of Guitar Hero can't compete with the 200ish dollar copy of Rock Band because only one game (so far) gives you the option of spending an extra 2 dollars for a song you really love, an extra 20 dollars for an album you really love, or an extra 1,000 dollars for 500 more songs or whatever.

We had people last November saying that the Guitar Hero franchise would be DEAD by the end of 2008. :lol

For the hardcore crowd (ie hype coming from message boards / gaming sites) I would probably argue that it already has shifted.

However again that has nothing to do with casuals as they are the true owners of the gaming market.

Not to mention the massive sales lead that EA/MTV/HMX are trying to give GH:WT outside the US.

Are we in Sales Age mode, or fanboy mode? As a fan, GH has a lot of catching up to do. Sales Age? Shit doesn't matter.

I know which one you're in.

I think that both game experiences are similar, and both will be plenty satisfying. Many people have already invested into Rock Band DLC and it doesn't look the stream of songs will be stopping any time soon, so I say library size determines winner.

You think one extra drum determines winner. Let's agree to disagree

YES @ Stevie Ray Vaughn. I enjoyed Texas Flood from GH I, and Pride and Joy from GH III was a heck of a lot of fun. It'll be great to have a full blues album; I enjoy bluesy/jazzy rock more than most other stuff.

Looking forward to My Hero from The Colour and the Shape.

Music Studio is the one you were looking for.

Nothing's going to approach real good music like The Who, SRV, etc. Most people will fool around with it a bit then forget about it.

GH will have DLC as well... I don't know why people cannot enjoy 2 games.. is like Mortal Kombat or something, someone has to finish it!! Winnar!!

No. The majority of that thing's output will be poor sounding midi recreations of popular songs and notes scattered across the board in attempts to make "HARDEST SONG EVAR!" I predict that very little of what comes from it will be worth playing.

So it looks like the replacement for Rush is a band called Locksley. Some people on the Rock Band forums have noticed an ad on PSN for the new pack.

Here's a picture someone posted:

Nothing official yet but it seems like this is what we are getting. Here's a post from the RB forums that has videos of each song.

:( From Rush to...... that.

Wikipedia said:
Locksley is a four-piece rock and roll band that was originally formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 2003, but is now based in Brooklyn. Their music is derivative of early British Invasion bands such as the Kinks, the Beatles, and the Hollies but differs significantly with Locksley's modern instrumental style

This makes them sound ok, but I'm guessing it won't be.

It's fairly easy to tell where my allegiance lies, but I also don't want to spend any more money than I am currently on music games.

I made songs in Band Brothers for DS. I don't care if the instruments don't sound perfect. I enjoy messing with that kinda thing.

I'll probably buy all three. I like the songs and the drums sound like fun on all the songs. Cool oldies vibe too. Also, there could be more song coming since all thats up in the store is the graphics and not the actual songs yet.

I wonder if this "Locksley" pack is their alternate for this week, or just the additional pack that was to go along with Moving Pictures. Similar to the way the Weezer Pack 01 kinda just got sprung on us with Doolittle.

That may be the reason why this DLC seems underwhelming. It's because it wasn't supposed to be the only thing released. Just a though.

PS:
I made up this whole thing, I was bored. I DONT FUCKING WANT WHATEVER THE FUCK LOCKSLY IS

I'm fucking sick of people putting up fake press release type DLC packs! Isn't making up fake shit a bannable offense?

I mean, I may be slightly in the wrong for putting up my "Viking Metal Pack 01" on Monday, but I didn't make it look like a PR, and made it explicitly known that it was fake (without using spoilers).

TheGreatDave said:
Can we fucking stop this?

I only post fake PR's when Rush gets replaced with something called Locksley... so no more from me.

At least it shows HMX could make much better choices with DLC....

SORRY ALL
