I thought you were talking about the 5 total pads+cymbals in GH:WT.
dave is ok said:GH is gigantic, I'm not saying it's going anywhere. I'm just guessing that at some point there will be a shift in public perception as to which franchise is the 'Madden' of music games.
ChrisGoldstein said:What kind of a stool do yall use to play the drums?
I got this patio plastic chair that just doesnt cut it, or maybe I suck (more likely)
dave is ok said:You can't compare a guitar game (especially one that people have had four years to buy a controller for) with a band game.
I agree that the stronger 'brand' is Guitar Hero right now. But Rock Band has the stronger experience. It the only game that gets better every week
Ummm... You do know that the 2K/ESPN Football games scared Madden so much that they bought NFL exclusivity? :lolGrecco said:its funny a bunch of companies have tried to beat Madden and yet Madden is still the "Madden" of Football games. So thats a funny example to make
I wasn't aware that full-band GHWT was coming out for PS2 but I checked EBs website and it is. Yeah, that extra 3-4 million WW sales will pretty much mean ActiBlizz can claim that GH is far more popular than RB.TheGreatDave said:Take a look at which system GH is selling best on and then come back and say Rock Band DLC is gonna make it more successful.
Yeah, I still can't believe Tool isn't in any of these games yet. They fit the hardcore gamer demographic so well, too.ChrisGoldstein said:Yeah those drums make my RB drums obsolete.
And if tool is in the game, well then GH > RB
Like I said, I'm talking about the band games. I'm saying the 200ish dollar copy of Guitar Hero can't compete with the 200ish dollar copy of Rock Band because only one game (so far) gives you the option of spending an extra 2 dollars for a song you really love, an extra 20 dollars for an album you really love, or an extra 1,000 dollars for 500 more songs or whatever.TheGreatDave said:If you pay. You are basically saying that the a $60 copy of Guitar Hero can't compete with the $200 you spent on DLC after spending $180 on Rock Band. Its a stupid comparison.
beermonkey@tehbias said:We had people last November saying that the Guitar Hero franchise would be DEAD by the end of 2008. :lol

I know which one you're in.TheGreatDave said:Are we in Sales Age mode, or fanboy mode?

I think that both game experiences are similar, and both will be plenty satisfying. Many people have already invested into Rock Band DLC and it doesn't look the stream of songs will be stopping any time soon, so I say library size determines winner.
You think one extra drum determines winner. Let's agree to disagree

However again that has nothing to do with casuals as they are the true owners of the gaming market.
Drakken said:YES @ Stevie Ray Vaughn. I enjoyed Texas Flood from GH I, and Pride and Joy from GH III was a heck of a lot of fun. It'll be great to have a full blues album; I enjoy bluesy/jazzy rock more than most other stuff.

duderon said:Nothing's going to approach real good music like The Who, SRV, etc. Most people will fool around with it a bit then forget about it.
No. The majority of that thing's output will be poor sounding midi recreations of popular songs and notes scattered across the board in attempts to make "HARDEST SONG EVAR!" I predict that very little of what comes from it will be worth playing.TheGreatDave said:Music Studio is the one you were looking for.
Wired All Wrong said:So it looks like the replacement for Rush is a band called Locksley. Some people on the Rock Band forums have noticed an ad on PSN for the new pack.

Nothing official yet but it seems like this is what we are getting. Here's a post from the RB forums that has videos of each song.

Wikipedia said:Locksley is a four-piece rock and roll band that was originally formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 2003, but is now based in Brooklyn. Their music is derivative of early British Invasion bands such as the Kinks, the Beatles, and the Hollies but differs significantly with Locksley's modern instrumental style

Its actually pretty good. Very fun music. Upbeat and nice drums too. I might buy all 3.dave is ok said:This makes them sound ok, but I'm guessing it won't be.
