The soundtrack being awesome probably helped just a bit.Ridley327 said:GH80s did disgustingly well for how half-assed and overpriced it was. Harmonix definitely had the janitors work on that one.

GH2 360 had a couple non-covers, didn't it? Besides bonus bands, of course.Baker said:GH3 was also the first game that wasn't all covers, correct?

Yeah Jane's Addiction and one other song. I meant as the focus though.XShagrath said:GH2 360 had a couple non-covers, didn't it? Besides bonus bands, of course.

Jet Grind Radio! said:GH3 didn't have all masters, just a huge majority. 19 of those songs where covers.
People who play GH3 also have no taste in games. Case closed.birdman said:and the first on the Wii. If you ever look at those "time spent on Wii" graphs that come out every so often, GH3 still to this day gets a ton of constant play.
Showing just how good it is. Bravo, Neversoft.birdman said:and the first on the Wii. If you ever look at those "time spent on Wii" graphs that come out every so often, GH3 still to this day gets a ton of constant play.

Not offering a guitar bundle was one of their biggest fuck ups too.Jet Grind Radio! said:If Harmonix hadn't fucked up so much with the original, and sequel, I think RB could have stood a chance against GH on the Wii, as well as Europe and Australia.
Not offering, at least, a separate guitar to be sold didn't help too much. Not for PS3, anyway.TheGreatDave said:Not offering a guitar bundle was one of their biggest fuck ups too.
Remfin said:It was my understanding that 80's sold less than half of what 2 sold. But I suppose that could have been a chartz number.
People hating on GH3's covers![]()
If you only played guitar already (from GH) and had no interest in drums, then you just had to buy the game. If you were new to the rhythm game party, why would you only want a guitar? So your friend can sit and watch while you shred?TheGreatDave said:Not offering a guitar bundle was one of their biggest fuck ups too.

Considering the Band Bundle only had one guitar, and the PS3 version couldn't use the Les Pauls for months, I think it would be a good idea to sell an extra guitar at that point.XShagrath said:If you only played guitar already (from GH) and had no interest in drums, then you just had to buy the game. Okay.. You got me there. I kinda wish the band bundle just came with 2 guitars. I understand only including one to keep the price down, but only providing enough peripherals for three people in a four person game is kinda lame (especially at the offset).Jet Grind Radio! said:Considering the Band Bundle only had one guitar, and the PS3 version couldn't use the Les Pauls for months, I think it would be a good idea to sell an extra guitar at that point.

Maybe you wanted to play the songs in RB1 but not spend $200 upfront? Guitar has always been the most appealing instrument, there's no reason to assume the only people playing RB1 were people who wanted to play 4 player.XShagrath said:If you only played guitar already (from GH) and had no interest in drums, then you just had to buy the game. You underestimate the power of drums.TheGreatDave said:Maybe you wanted to play the songs in RB1 but not spend $200 upfront? Guitar has always been the most appealing instrument, there's no reason to assume the only people playing RB1 were people who wanted to play 4 player.

Well, as far as I know the Les Paul was released just a few weeks before RB1. HMX tried to make it as compatible as possible, but when they tried to release a patch they were cockblocked by Activision.XShagrath said:Okay.. You got me there. Also wasn't the Les Paul incompatibility a cock-block from Activision? Although HMX should've done a test on that, perhaps.
That's it. I couldn't remember the exact time-frame.birdman said:To clarify: We didn't get Les Paul support until close to a year later, and the first time a guitar only came out was about 6 months later.
I'm just bored.. I'll be bowing out soon to watch Hurt Locker and then play some Alan Wake after the sun goes down.Cahill said:It's like I'm reading the thread back in 2008.
It's not a case of being poor. If you were a Harmonix fan who loved GH on PS2, and then bought a new console, your only option was to buy a different game or spend $200. Most people don't play drums.XShagrath said:You underestimate the power of drums.
Also.. :lol at poor people.
IF you were a HMX fan who bought a 360, you'd already have a guitar from GH2 360.TheGreatDave said:It's not a case of being poor. If you were a Harmonix fan who loved GH on PS2, and then bought a new console, your only option was to buy a different game or spend $200. Most people don't play drums.
Not if you already bought it on PS Double.Jet Grind Radio! said:IF you were a HMX fan who bought a 360, you'd already have a guitar from GH2 360.
Case in point, me.
Do you have any idea how badly I want to kill you?XShagrath said:I will never agree with you, Dave. So I'm just going to let this one fade out. Doesn't mean you win, just means I don't wanna go in circles all day.
If you were a real HMX fan, then you'd have it on both because the 360 version contained new songs and achievements.TheGreatDave said:Not if you already bought it on PS Double.

Again, case in point me. I bought GH2 PS2 played it for two weeks before I traded in my PS2 towards my PS3.TheGreatDave said:Not if you already bought it on PS Double.

I remember getting that game before its street date and playing Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo and thinking it was the best thing ever. I still need that song as RB DLC.
Is that a threat? :lol
birdman said:Same here, to a degree. I didn't really get into GH until 2 on the 360. I bought GH2 on PS2, but didn't play it for that long.
With this and the thing about calling the cops a few days ago, it sounds like Dave's got some unchecked English aggression.
