getting back to the game..

lol.. I finally got battery at the end of a long playing stretch on monday.. hours, my hand was hurting, but I Was like "I'm playing metallica damn it.." I played on hard just because I REALLY wanted to beat it and lo and behold, I FAILED OUT. WTF? So I gave it like three more shots and failed all three.

so last night I was showing my brother how BS Battery on hard was. And I beat it the first time. wtf?? Well, at least I can show him how BS it is on expert.... or could I?

Battery is now the second song in the series I've come across where it is actually EASIER on Expert than it is on hard. The main riff on hard is just stupid and doesn't make any sense. I finally got it down but it just really seemed off a little. I moved to expert and whaddaya know. The riff made total sense and I could keep my meter pegged at the top during it (the solos are an entirely nother story).

For the record, the first song I am referring to is Don't Fear the Reaper. The main guitar riff in that song actually makes much more sense on expert than it does on hard. I can perfect the entire riff with my eyes close (Well, possibly with my eyes closed) yet I'll screw up on it on hard.

if each album gets its own week
Not really a safe assumption. Doolittle and Peace Sells didn't get their own weeks.

Any impressions of people who have been using the Xplorer/Les Paul primarily for these games and are now trying out the new RB2 strat? I'm trying to decide whether I should pick one up or stick to my clicky strum bars.
Long time Xplorer user, and I love the new RB2 Strat. I thought I'd miss the click, nope not at all. Matter in fact, I'm thinking of getting my wife a new RB2 strat also because the clicking of her Xplorer was a bit annoying last night :lol

I know that, but The Cars, Judas Priest, and The Who Greatest Hits all did. Moving Pictures would have too, had it not been delayed. I'm just assuming if only so we can have a hard number.

yeah I'm really hoping it's an album each week now, the albums announced are just fucking awesome. I hope texas flood is next to be honest, It would be a nice change. that, or the chilly peppers.

I could care less about songs outside of albums each week but I would still love it. Wallet hates me hard.

So the auto-calibration is good then?

My buddy says it was worth the $70 just for the calibration. His tv and audio were way off and he claims it's like playing a whole new game now.

My wallet love Target and Circuit City long time.

The RB2 Strat is a damn fine guitar, even if it's not all that different from the first one. I still stick to my Xplorer for the really fast stuff, loud as it may be.

As of this week there are 219 DLC songs.

I'm not going to run up precise calculations, but if each album gets its own week, and the 20 free songs don't, and we include RB1 and RB2 songs, there'll have to be 7 songs released each non-album week in order to reach the 500 figure.

I hope they're going for quality and quantity, and not just quantity, but who knows.

Locksley say "hi".

Interesting, seems totally hit or miss.

This is exactly what I'm hoping for.

Locksley was rushed (luls) to replace Moving Pictures. It was supposed to be released along with All That Remains, it was never supposed to be released with MP since it wasn't announced with MP.

The new drums are pretty awesome. No cross-talk problems at all with the set I got. They're not exactly as quiet as the the originals with silencers, but you don't have to hit them nearly as hard, either. Still getting used to the feel; the rebound is different, which I'm trying to adjust to. Overall, the whole kit just feels sturdier.

The only problem I have is with the pedal. It doesn't have the annoying "click" when you press it all the way down (which is great), but it offers more resistance and doesn't seem to be as responsive to quick double-kicks. I don't necessarily think it's defective — it works fine if you don't press the pedal all the way down — but that's how I play, and it's throwing me off.

I do plan on picking up the new guitar at some point. I'd at least like to try the auto-calibration to see the numbers it gives me. As it is now, I leave the game at 0:0 — it's a lot more playable than any results I get from manually calibrating.

My right forearm is really sore, and I have a song from the game (Peace Sells) stuck in my head. I've been going through this process every time a new rhythm game comes out going back to Guitar Hero 1 :(

Least it's a good song and not
Interpol
or something.

Yeah, I said it.

Colbert's song came out of nowhere. Announcements aren't really necessary anymore.

But yeah, Locksley was a rush. There was a bit of fine tuning left to do that the patch fixed a little.

I was/am really excited about the roster/substitution feature, as when playing solo with my t-shirt-and-jeans rock guy, I'd rather have a band of custom characters I designed rather than the freaks created by Harmonix...but I can't seem to get it to work. Last night, I designated a custom character to play guitar in the band when I'm playing by myself and using the bass, but when I fired up the game, a Harmonix character, and not the one I created, was on guitar. Everything looks OK in the setup menu...any of you guys have an idea of what I might be doing wrong?

Are you playing in World Tour or Quickplay?

Its bit weird to see these macho guys sing the songs sung by women. I don't know why Harmonix didn't program it to load 2 singers and swap them out if the lead singer changes from male to female or the other way around.

my daughter was cracking up at that. (8 years). She loved how the bald skinny white guy was singing paramore.

I just keep a female as my singer at all times. It's great to watch her sing Megadeth.

Correction; Antics and Our Love to Admire haters be damned, Interpol are great.

I have to side with you on this one, Interpol is a great, great band.

However, I can see how they might not be for everyone. People are allowed to have different taste in music, ya know.

I haven't progressed too far in the game, but PDA is my favorite song to play on the drums(hard difficulty) so far.

That Stride thing worked! I actually got a PS3 code and redeemed money! $2.19! (Included tax, but didn't need to)

FUCK YOU BEST BUY.
FUCK YOU METALLICA.
FUCK YOU DISTURBED.
FUCK YOU INTERSCOPE.

You CAN do PS3 redeeming codes for both platforms, except you don't give a fuck. ESPECIALLY when your redeeming code isn't FOR the 360, rather a code you redeem to GET the 360 CODE.

So when I go through solo quickplay, it has all the songs listed... all RB2 and all DLC together.

Is there a way for me to turn of the DLC? So I can go through and experience all the new songs first before putting them together for more stuff?

You can sort the list to have Download and a Rock Band 2 section using the Back button

Edit: I got a Stride code!

I didn't research much on rb2 before i bought it

But im so glad they allow you to switch difficulties without having to replay everything over again, Made my day.

And wow I need to get better at drums :( I almost failed alanis morrisete on hard :(

Well, I finally got to play some solo yesterday.

Lord of the Strings was pretty easy to get. Beating Painkiller didn't feel as epic as beating GG&HT or Freebird, but it wasn't a cake walk either. I'll probably dive into the drum challenges today.

There really is a shit ton of stuff to do in this game. I will be playing RB2 pretty much indefinitely.

fake edit: and I didn't realize that "Feel the Pain" was THAT song before I played it. Man, I haven't heard that song in years.

I finally scored a new guitar at Gamestop. They got a whopping 2 in today! That was their first shipment, too.

I'm going to have to go back and replay some stuff. There are a few songs I should have gold starred, but my RB1 guitar's strum bar doesn't always register.

I don't do as well with the Red Octane guitars on this game, and vice versa (I tried using the RB1 guitar on GH: Aerosmith, and I was horrible until I switched back to the Les Paul). I couldn't even begin to explain why this is. It's probably psychological. :lol

Also, someone please slap me for buying the Megadeth stuff. I'm going to give myself tendinitis by the time "Rust in Peace" comes out.

Feel The Pain is awesome.
I've known that for almost 15 years now. :P

I actually made my daughter sing it last night. She did alright and got the hang of the second part of the song without failing out. Was very pleased.
