An American Idiot pack. You get to play the whole album and it becomes a challenge. Maybe even custom crowd chanting and a custom arena with the download.

Has Green Day been in any music game?

I want good Radiohead.

I think you mean MORE Radiohead. They already put good stuff by them (I know most dont like Creep or are tired of it)like My Iron Lung. We do need a big pack of their stuff, and I will be happy.

And I am still holding out hope that Tommy by the Who will be a full album download at some point. That would seriously kick all manners of ass.

True, but Costanza is so vocal about songs/bands he doesn't like that it would confuse me if he decided to name Pixies just so he could fit in.

I'm surprised they haven't released a 3rd song yet, at the very least. I want my Radiohead challenge! (And Sonic Youth challenge for that matter.. how about a Noise Pack with another SY song; something from Dirty plz, and 2 more Dinosaur Jr songs, say The Lung and Freak Scene? In a perfect world..)

Why don't we have Bush DLC?

"Everything Zen"
"Little Things"
"Comedown"
"Machinehead"
"Glycerine"
"Greedy Fly"
"Swallowed"
"Cold Contagious"
"Mouth"

My Iron Lung isn't a bad song (hardly one of my favourites though), but as far as Radiohead songs go it was a pretty dull choice for the game. Did somebody at Harmonix sit down and think "YES! That is the Radiohead song we want!"?

It's a bit surprising that they haven't. Wonder what their excuse is.

Yeah....what the hell. I can't believe that Green Day isn't in RB or GH. I wish we could get a reason why.

Its not like the masters aren't available, Green Day has merch out the ying yang, so I wouldn't see why they wouldn't license the songs.

Even though the songs would be very simple to play, I would still love to see Green Day make an appearence.

Maybe something will show up as DLC when a new single drops. However, Jesus of Suburbia or Homecoming would be a blast to play.

I agree. Just would have been the better Bends song choice. And then there's Airbag, Paranoid Android, Electioneering (Okay, like most of OK Computer would be better than 75% of the songs in RB), 2+2=5, Go To Sleep or Jigsaw falling Into Place would all be great picks.

Yeah, the only place I tested the "green cymbal" was in Freestyle mode. If I recall correctly, I also only had access to the snare, hat, hi tom, and low tom sounds. I can't be positive that was the case, but I recall thinking, "Hey, the cymbals/pads aren't triggering seperate sounds!" In my case, I think both the blue pad and the blue cymbal were triggering hat sounds. One would assume that if things were working correctly, the blue pad would go back to playing a tom sound. (Would the yellow and red pads also play tom sounds? I'm not sure.)

I believe the separate cymbal/pad sounds are supposed to be available in:

The Freestyle part of the drum trainer
The Fill Trainer part of the drum trainer
During song fills
During Big Rock Endings
During intros?

I believe this works if you do not have lefty mode enabled. Can a righty confirm?

meljeff said:
I'm just curious but try it in the free style mode and see if it is the same.

I'm a lefty and as I was fixing up my RB1 drum set last night and I thought I was missing out by not having cymbals but I realized they probably only really apply in the freestyle mode.

I thought of this because in the freestyle mode

Green = Snare
Blue = Hi-Hat
Yellow = Tom
Red = Tom

but there is no cymbal.

I assume you can only get a cymbal if you have cymbals.

This however didn't affect actual game play so I'm not as distraught about it.

I'd be curious to know though.

If they could have got Paranoid Android, but decided to get Iron Lung instead, they deserve major pain. I don't know how this shit works, but I can't understand how decisions like this are made.

How can you question their choices after all the super awesome NIN songs they put into the game?

I just hope by teasing us with a ho-hum Radiohead song that it means HMX is saving the good stuff for later. Like a 3-pack of awesome. Or possibly OK Computer (it's still the ten-year anniversary if it's before 2009).

Good 3-Pack:
Just
Polyethylene Pt. 1 & 2
Bodysnatchers or 15 Step or Reckoner

Not that these are necessarily my favorite songs (although I like them quite a bit), but they'd probably translate to full-band well.

Polyethylene (Parts 1 & 2), Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, There There (The Boney King of Nowhere), Bangers & Mash, Street Spirit (Fade Out), and Knives Out should all be in there. The complete lack of Radiohead in RB2 disturbs me.

Well, my bass pedal finally bit the big one. After having already broken twice and being forced together with krazy glue, it finally decided that enough was enough, and refused to be put back together again. Now I need a budget replacement option. Any suggestions?

Anyone?

On some level I'm really hoping the 20-Free pack is a bunch of indie stuff. Harmonix has said they want to blow up more indie bands via Rock Band. They aren't top-tier so they can't really be on the disc (except for a the usual few) but a 20-pack of all indie stuff would be amazing. I would kill for The Hold Steady.

It depends on how bad it bit it. You can get a metal pedal to try and repair your existing one
this a cheap alternative to fixing your busted pedal. It's pretty much what they do to the RB2 drum pedal.

http://www.amazon.com/Reinforcement-xbox-360-playstation-3-2/dp/B0011GIBOO

Although if you want a beefier alternative I've heard very good things about the value pedal.

http://www.valuepedal.com/

Or last but not least you can go to e-bay and buy a replacement pedal.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-Rock-Band-Drum-Bass-Pedal-PS2-PS3-XBOX-Wii_W0QQitemZ170263009012QQihZ007QQcategoryZ139969QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Lots of alternatives.

Hope that helps.

I imagine most of the tracks are just going to be stuff that got cut out from the main game due to time issues.

I expect it to be full of songs nobody knows. Bonus tracks, by their nature, ain't the stuff you put on the back of the box. I don't think it would be a bad thing if that happened.

I also want a Unicorns pack and an Islands pack

Unicorns Pack:
Sea Ghost
I Was Born (A Unicorn)
Inoculate the Innocuous

Islands Pack:
Swans (it's 9 minutes, but it's awesome)/In the Rushes
Volcanoes
J'aime Vous Voire Quitter

Pedal Metal is fantastic. My pedal snapped right in the middle and now feels better than it did when it was new.

Would purchase again (but fortunately, I won't have to).

I never considered the songs to be THOSE kind of bonus songs. that would own so much.

HMXWebJeff said:
Hello, Rock Band fans! My name is Jeff Chausse (pronounced “SHOW-see”), and I joined Harmonix this year as Web Director, to oversee bringing RockBand.com to the next level of awesomeness. For many months now, the Harmonix web team has been working on a major overhaul of the site to launch in conjunction with Rock Band 2. We’re putting the finishing touches on it right now, and I wanted to give you a sneak peek into what we have in store for you.

Just to get one thing out of the way immediately: rest assured that the forums you’re reading right now aren’t going anywhere. The Forums are pretty much the lifeblood of the community, and we’d be crazy to mess with them. HMXSean and the gang will be sticking around here for a long time to come.

But outside of the Forums, we’ve rebuilt everything from the ground up to be more fun, more informative, and easier to use. Let’s run through a few highlights, shall we?

THE MUSIC

Rock Band is all about music, right? So, we’ve devoted an entire section of the site to information about every available Rock Band track – both on disc and DLC. We’ll have over 500 tracks total by the end of the year so that’s a lot of tracks. In addition to the basic info about each song (including difficulty rankings for each instrument), we’ll have background information on each song, written by our own ace rock writer Brett Milano, and most song pages will even feature gameplay tips from our own staff.

THE ‘ZINE

The ‘Zine is RockBand.com’s new blog, featuring a lot of the Rock Band happenings you’re used to seeing - like DLC announcements and band interviews, along with new content like a behind the scenes “Sketchbook”, contests, and a weekly series called “52 Weeks to Rock”, a useful and humorous instruction manual for becoming a real life rock band, written by people who’ve really been there – real life Harmonix musicians and superfans.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Rock Band 2 features “Battle of the Bands” – daily and weekly tournaments that allow you to test your skills in constantly refreshed challenges with a variety of ways to compete. RockBand.com will be the only place you can get a sneak preview of upcoming battles, invite your friends to participate against you, and even send yourself a reminder of when to start rocking. Battles you’ve competed in are stored in your profile, where you can check your ranking against your friends, and relive your experiences via your own personal Battle archive.

PHOTOCREATOR

The days of taking pictures of your TV to show off your band to the world are over. Photocreator is an online tool we’ve created that actually lets you pose and shoot photos of your Rock Band 2 characters and bands, which are then rendered in full game-quality 3D (by an army of servers we’ve affectionately dubbed “Rendertrons”). You can then assign your favorites to your band pages or just add them to your personal profile. Just link your Gamertag to your web profile to get started.

MERCH BOOTH

Oh yeah, there’s one more thing you can do with your photos as well – make stuff! Real stuff like T-shirts, stickers, and posters. Just pick the Rock Band 2 band or character photo of your choice and our Merch Booth tool will step you through customizing merchandise that’s shipped to your door in just a few days. I’ve seen a bunch of test runs of this stuff and, trust me, you will be impressed by the end result - the quality is amazing.

BANDMATE CREATOR

As if that weren’t enough, in addition to posters, shirts, and stickers, you can make customized 3D statues of your favorite Rock Band 2 characters, which we’ve dubbed “Bandmates”. These things are awesome. They’re about 6” tall, made using full-color 3D printing technology from Z Corporation. Just pick a character, an instrument, and a pose, and they’ll get shipped to your door for about 70 bucks. The Harmonix office is swarming with Bandmate prototypes. After we'd evaluated a test run, we’d give them away to employees, and there was always a mad scramble to grab them on giveaway day.

STREAMLINED UI AND NAVIGATION

Tying all this together, we’ll be introducing a greatly streamlined site interface and navigation system that will help you get where you want to go with minimal fuss, including a new homepage that should knock your socks off.

There’s more, of course, but you’ll just have to wait and see for yourself when the new site goes live next week. We at Harmonix are all very excited to be launching the site we’ve always wanted to have – built and run entirely by Harmonix designers, developers, and writers. We can't wait to put these features and tools into your hands. As always, we look to you, the community, to help us find problems and make this site as good as it can be. We hope you're ready for the new RockBand.com experience!

Rock on,
Jeff

Yay for the BOTB integration. The merchandising aspect (including the statues) has been teased a long time, looks like it's finally here.

Bonus tracks, until Rock Band, were always the songs I played most. I like a song I know as nothing but a videogame song, if that makes any sense.

For me personally, while I do like to see some out of the blue type of music announcements, I really think they should start focusing on getting some of the GH:WT disc songs, that they also have rights to, out the door (with the amount of overlap already you KNOW there has to be more).

I guess that might be considered a dick move by some, but I would personally love it.

Woo, in a hotel room in the bay area... EA tomorrow, and I get to go to the employee store. If Rock Band 2 instruments aren't there, I'll hit up a gamestop. Taking it back is no problem as all my stuff is handluggage, so... woo.

I think I need a totally out of nowhere song suggestion to wrap up this post though. Uhhhm. Ida Maria, I like you so much better when you're naked.

We'll see what people say to that.

p.s. thanks ea for the five star hotel and paying for the net. if you'd like to do this for something that isn't the sims, that'd be nice.
p.p.s. activision, i am open to similar bribes.

TheGreatDave said:
Releasing them the same week as GHWT seems kinda pointless, as does releasing them day and date with RB2 PS3. I guess sometime in November.
Not releasing them in time for the RB2 PS3 and GHWT would be pointless. Assuming the 20-pack has RB2-like quality songs and artists (ie, mostly anything from the Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Lynyrd Skynyd, Iron Maiden, etc), and it launches with the other RB2 SKUs, it steal at least some of the limelight from Guitar Hero. Otherwise, what other purpose would it serve?

I suppose they could simply be given to us for free because Harmonix genuinely wanted to give us more music with RB2... but I doubt that's their sole motivation.
Costanza said:
You guys know what would be awesome? If HMX announced a Muse 7-pack tomorrow.
Add in Knights of Cydonia and I agree. Sure it'd be terrible to play on guitar (see: GH3), but I wouldn't mind since it's such an awesome song to listen to.

Even if I absolutely hate a song pack I will still think it's great that it was released, because chances are someone else is going batshit insane with happiness over it.
I think it's great as long as a good bone is thrown to me every now and then. Otherwise, if HMX hasn't released anything you like in months, and instead continue to release music from the same genre, I'm going to bitch regardless if some other people are enjoying the DLC.

There's so many NIN tracks in RB because NIN specifically wanted those tracks in RB.

Speaking of Radiohead albums, I remember all of OK Computer being available as 256kbp/s MP3s for $1.99 total. I should've jumped on that. :(

They have Kiss' "Favorites"/Greatest Hits for $3. Jesus Amazon.

I'm of the same opinion. I'd probably be happy if Moving Pictures was actually released, but this is Week 6 of not even considering any DLC. If they announce another week of metal I'm gonna be bitching like there's no tomorrow. Give me the goddamn Stevie Ray Vaughn, just something for some variety!

Hell, give me that The Offspring pack that was rumoured a while back and I'll shut up for another 6 weeks. I promise!

It popped up on my 10 hour playlist (I love flying! :P) and thought "I like this song. It has numerous band members. It is a fun one."

My mum though, when driving me down to the airport for Barcelona, suggested One Day Like This by Elbow. But that's more as she likes the song rather than being good for the game in any way shape or form.

I'm surprised that anyone thinks they'll be able to pick and choose songs from the AC/DC expansion. I just don't see Walmart selling DLC in their stores, so it's likely a disc.

Elbow. LOL. That's all I have to say about that.

Okay so I just played Visions on expert drums for the first time. HOW VERY SHITTY. Made it to like 18-20%. Couldn't even beat it on hard (~95%), but I'm sure I could if I tried another time or two. Not that I wanna.

edit: Also, as much as I hate you guys talking about Haley all the time, That's What You Get is actually a fairly enjoyable song and is pretty fun on drums too. How does Crushx3 compare?
