Same feeling here. Last night I played several games where I had that 'Oh great... I'm on my own again!' feeling after a few minutes. I always finish the game, even the skipfests with bad connections.

I did have one game last night where it was 2 on 2 ranked and my teammate fucking quit right at the beginning but I ended up winning like 7-1. Yeah I felt like the shit, I was like come at me bro at the end lol. The team I was playing obviously sucked haha, but I completley destroyed those dudes on my own. Good times.

Just had a ridiculously frustrating match with a teammate that seemed to think sending a "[TEAM] Defending..." message would magically warp other players into attack position.
It would be pretty fun/useful if psyonix would put some kinda tongue in cheek advice on the loading screens.

If I log into my PSN account on another PS4 as the second player and we play split-screen online, will stuff I do count toward my stats? I would guess it would affect my leaderboard position but nothing else?

Some people are just impatient children who will throw a fit as soon as something doesn't go their way. I hope all these poor losers give up on the game soon so I don't have to deal with them. More server time for those of us who know how to act like adults!

On the camera, I'm settling on something like this at the moment for making it easier to hit things accurately and not too limited a view:
Thanks, ickingfudiot posted his settings earlier, I have been going with that. The big difference is how close the camera is. I originally had my camera stretched ALL THE WAY OUT. I had a better view, but now I feel that with the camera so close, I can judge my hits better.

Modifiers were supposed to be a huge part of Rocket League, as well as tournaments. I believe they are still working on doing tournaments.
The modifiers I think were probably dropped. I agree that fun modifiers would be great, especially for private and local matches.
They had plans to do things like change how scoring worked and changing the size of the goals. Those sounded interesting to me, but they probably figured it wasnt worth the effort since most people would get tired of small gimmicks.
A lot of what you are asking for sounds like an issue of prioritizing features. Right now, well designed, unconventional maps would really add a good amount of variety to the traditional, competitive game.

I feel like i get terrible teammates in Solo 3v3 but great folks in regular 3V3 or 4v4. I can't count how many times I had a shot lined up perfectly or was positioning the ball for an easy goal only to have a ball hungry teammate rush to the ball to completely ruin the setup and allow for the other team to gain control.
I lost 2 matches yesterday where the other team was down one player because people don't know how to play with others.

The only modifier I was really hoping for was block ball, just because it was so stupid in the SARPBC mini game and would be fun for private matches.
My top two unconventional maps is like to see (just the shape, not necessarily the theme) are Utopia which was a circle because it really changes how you play since you can't really do goals across the map and you can drive into one goal and out the other to quickly change from offense to defense, as well as the soccer stadium which placed the goals in front of the walls with a net which meant you had to really aim your shots and couldn't just slam it against the wall and wait for it to curve around the corner and fall in front of the goal.

Players like that are always going to be hard to avoid. Everyone wants to be Messi.
Proper team play is critical. At least having different formation shifts from offense to defense.
If a person spawns on goal, that person should play goalie for the match. It's not hard to establish a defensive strategy with some basic common sense.
I've had plenty of setups diverted and easy angle shots poked away by hyper team mates. That's just going to be a part of this. You come to terms with it rather quickly.

Post game awards were in SARPBC and I agree would be really fun here. They don't have to give and xp, I only want them as a source of banter after a match.

Utopia is coming. That soccer map sounds great, especially because of the behind-the-net stuff. I wonder if that would frustrate people and cause slow downs though.
I think Galleon looked cool because of the ramp and elevation, but Id also like to see Psyonix develop brand new map designs.

Wait, so you can play with one PS+ account and three local non-PS+ accounts splitscreen online as long as it's on the PS+ account, but you can't play with online with one PS+ account and 3 guests? Sounds kinda odd

You can probably play online as guests, but not in this game. I remember COD allowing guests, but I dont know about the PS4 version.
Regardless, you can easily make 3 accounts and go online with only one PS+ account

I don't get it at all in unranked matches. As far as ranked goes, I don't think you're penalized if you quit, so instead of losing 40 points of rank for a loss you lose nothing. It's never the good players that quit though. It's always someone who's constantly getting in the way or a whiff machine. They need a way to penalize those people, while giving a break to the team down 2vs3 or 1vs3.
I won a game the other day down a player while scoring 8 goals and having 1730 points, and only had 8 points added to my rank. If I would've lost that match I would've lost at least 40 points.

This really further proves that the game is truly skill and talent based. You have hot and cold streaks, just like your opponents and teammates will. You could be having a good game, but if your teammates are off, or your opponents are playing amazing, you still will probably have a tough time. (unless you're Kronovi :/ )
I think the best advice for after the fact commentary is to try and keep the excitement level up while you talk. It can be hard, but it's an exciting game, so enthuse about your good play and talk about it rationally after the fact. Do your own replays if it's saved and not a goal.
So just to let people know that might not check the tournament thread, I was thinking if I should delay the tournament or not, but because no one is truly sure when the patch for cross platform private matches is going to be released, I decided in the end against it. I promise you I'll do a cross platform tournament after this one!

You have to account for disconnects I suppose.
But then I can't imagine that the game can't track those who click the leave button against those who just vanish. Can't imagine too many people are completely turning off the game to leave a ranked match.

That doesn't sound right. I have never finished a match without unlocking something. I'm also having an issue with the 500 km trip on PS4. I know it's bugged but I am no longer adding any additional miles to my wheels after matches. This is the last trophy I need for the plat and it's driving me nuts.Bump. Anyone?

If you lead your save to a USB or online storage and transfer it to the other ps4 you can still unlock stuff as the second player.
A mini game from the original game. Instead of a sphere you hit a cube. Was really stupid fun to do every now and then but was single player only

Have you unlocked Sweet Tooth? Besides that and the antenna (and maybe more things but I'm not sure) that he comes with, every item is unlocked by just finishing matches. If you're missing that, that's probably it. Otherwise, I don't know :/

Holy heck - this game is fun but the CONSTANT disconnecting teammates is maddening. Played 5 ranked games over lunch, every single one had someone on my team DC about a minute in.
If you intentionally quit a game, you should be locked out of matchmaking for 2 minutes at least - it's what DOTA does and it works beautifully. I don't think people are pulling their Ethernet cords out or anything, I think some just decide to search again because reasons. And I agree, if you have internet that's so bad that you drop out twice in a day or more, you shouldn't be allowed to play ranked.

I've been presuming it's steam players that are tweaking their display name to try and make themselves harder to spot in the game.
Actually the weird part is those dudes do have a name on Steam. Like a name that should be easily shown by the game. But it isn't. For some weird reason. I'm guessing it sometimes bugs if it takes too long to parse the name or something...

I had some frustrating games last night too. Stop advancing the ball for the other team! Damn you! Especially when the opponent is on our side of the ball (so they can't hit the ball towards our goal without driving to the other side of it), let our godamn goalkeeper clear it out , don't hit it towards our goal just because you can.
You needn't worry about anything like that, I'm your goalie, I'm cool and reliable, no ball shall pass me, just look at this gif
