Heh, almost exactly the same situation trophy wise. Need to edit a replay as well once I an figure out how to save them.

EDIT: Since I can't play, going to boost my driving distance by just holding down R2 in training.

After a match ends "save replay" is an option in the post game menu. You then simply watch it in the main menu (under extras I think).

That's just so crazy it might work. Gonna do this tonight if the servers are still shakey.

Thanks! Yeah, I need to learn to switch on the fly as appropriate. I'm using the ball cam too much at the moment I think (because it's nice seeing where the ball is!), and it's probably making some things more difficult than they need to be.

It only shows the name of whoever got the goal, which will be the last player on that team who touched the ball. The goal can be completely self-inflicted, with the last touch from an opposing player having happened a minute ago, and that's still the name you'll see.

Just spent ~2 hours playing 3v3's with a team this morning on EU. Had zero problems finding any servers and absolutely zero lag.

This fucking game is ridiculously fun. And I seriously need to work on my jumping/aerial skills.

Is there a quick chat option on PS4. I know you press the touch pad to bring up the text box to enter a message but how to you use the pre-loaded messages?

I've noticed people using things like "...defending" etc.

Still nothing found in 2.5 hours. I might try restarting the PS4 at this point.

First rule of thumb in any new game - check the controls.
But yeah, beaten, Dpad.

It's something I never, ever do. I really do need to start getting back into the habit of doing it. I think modern games generally hand-hold you so much at the start with tutorials/training levels that is is a practice that's used less and less. Shame really as I love reading through the manuals of older megadrive/dreamcast games.

Don't worry about it. It's an incredibly difficult skill to master. I've played around 150 games online across SARPBC, the RL Beta and full game and I've just about managed the fine art of hitting the ball in the air (probably 30% of the time at most).

I still can't direct it anywhere though. I can just about manage a straight line. Try playing through the pro aerial training a few times. It's hard as balls but a good indication of how difficult it is in real matches.

It's crazy to see the Rocket League OT on the main page everytime i visit NeoGAF. We've come a long way since they started talking about BC2 a few years ago.

Tilt the camera up or play a single player game while you wait to stop the noise.

Almost 3 hours without luck for me though.

Because people don't like it when someone stops them from scoring. I exclusively play goalie and a lot of the time people on the other team will try to blow me up. I just dodge them and watch them waste their time while my team takes advantage of it.

No, it isn't at all. In fact, there should always be someone around the goal, especially when the opponent is attacking. I've seen too many lucky goals from across the stage because nobody was guarding the goal.

It took a handful of exhibition games before I got fairly comfortable using the flip to bat the ball in the direction I want. Cleared my own goal a few times and got a couple tap-in goals of ricochets. This game is the epitome of easy to pick up and hard to master.

Going to come back at it again tomorrow...well, later today, I guess.

Not at all. In fact it's great when a team understands the concept of one guy staying back. It doesn't necessarily have to be one dedicated keeper either. It's a bit like "rush-in" rules back in the day. If you're in a team of three and 2 guys chase the ball up the pitch then whoever is the furthest back stays on half way to cover any long shots and to return clearances.

You'll find teams who employ this method will win out the majority of the time.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Just gonna keep doin what I'm doin. My teammates love me, and the opposition hates me... Oh well! Gotta rack up them saves.

Yup, this. Most of the goals that our team conceded this morning were because I was playing mid-field and got greedy, so the enemy hit the ball back and I was out of position to defend it.

AFAIK, distance travelled in training doesn't count.

I know. I can hardly keep up. I took a screenshot of the magical 1k replies on my phone - I think that's going to be decimated by the end lol.

Speaking of which: Is there just the one ball skin? Odd omission if so, given the amount of car customization the game has. Seems like such a no-brainer to have different ball styles such as soccer ball (genious!), volleyball, beach ball, giant tennis ball, etc, etc. Future DLC?

Any time I need to glance away to see a boost refill or line up a shot I use triangle to turn it off. Then snap it back if the ball is ahead of me further out, or leave it if it's right near me.

Got the PC version since I'm PS4less another week or so. My Steam name is the same as on here, but will add to list, too.

Hmm enjoying the game but I'm really bad atm :(
Seems like everytime the opposing team scores it's because I missed the ball or it bounces nicely for one of their team after I hit it.
