As far as I'm concerned, Gulbis won this. He would not have been so scared to play Nadal like Novak was. I still can't understand how he lost the SF.

Shame I can't watch Wimbledon the way I watched RG. Premium channel Sky owns the rights for Wimbledon in Germany. no way I'll get a Sky subscription.

Oh yeah, didn't DF in the 2012 final, too? smh

Seriously, the only one that can stop Nadal from surpassing Federer is some random in the earlier rounds.

Waiting for Rafa's eiffel tower shot now

Well, it's hard...but what can you say. Nadal ist the greatest tennis player that ever existed, it's just so hard beating him @GS tournaments.

Maybe next year, but maybe never.

Damn, Djokovic's French is really good.

Tennis players (foreign tennis players) are always so great at learning languages.
When Nadal starts handing out the trophies, they're going to spend 15 minutes on the highlight reel for all of his titles.
After Nadal retires, any player who wins the final, after beating the winner of the other side of the draw, the only way to win the French Open will be to play an in-his-prime clone of Nadal.

Once Nadal equals Fed's 17 GS record then many ppl will consider him the GOAT since he destroys Fed in H2H. But until then ppl will still consider Fed GOAT.

The math is he's still behind in total number of slams. More importantly: Nine of them on clay. So he's outplayed soundly on other surfaces.

He's been toe to toe with Fed on Fed's best surface and beaten him. The opposite has not happened, so why are we making a big deal out of this?

Nobody to win the French for the next 50 years then /s

First off h2h does not decide a player's legacy in the hall of fame. Match-ups are a thing and you're judged by your wins, tournament wins, overall stats, not some nemesis narrative. Secondly you can't even compare their h2h properly considering five year age difference and playing at their peak at different times.

Don't do this please. The "what if" game is just so pointless and tiring in tennis arguments.
What are you talking about?

I haven't jumped in this stupid greatest-of-all-time discussion you're in.

I couldn't care less who people think is the greatest.

I am simply saying that Nadal would definitely have fifteen now had he been healthy in Australia.

wawrinka was playing some lights out tennis in that match. saying anyone would have definitely beaten him is bullshit.

Whoa, no need to be so antagonistic :) sorry I said anything, but it's a point that gets belabored for all players.

Guys please...Nadal destroyed everyone. Djokovic was the only player that stood a chance against him, even on clay.

I would agree that Djokovic was the only one who had a chance to beat him in this tournament.
