I always hear about Taylor Townsend finally getting in shape but every time I see her, she's still as chunky as ever (like right now). It's too bad because she could be the next one.

I'm currently watching Eugenie Bouchard's match from the this morning and man did she ever recover from losing the first set. It looks like she's found her game and looks to be in complete control right now

When she is aggressive, she does well. Love her fight.

He looked pretty sharp. Nice to see.

He's got quite a few points to defend given that he reached the semi-final last year but he only reached the 2nd round of Wimbledon and didn't play in the US Open so hopefully he'll overtake the likes of Isner in the rankings. Of course, after I made my post he lost 3 games in a row including being broken twice.

I've never heard of Taylor Townsend before until one of the posts above me. They just showed her in action while I was watching another match. British female tennis players have been criticised in the past for being out of shape but this is another level.

I shot people I like more for less.

Yeah, he hasn't been doing too well since the French last year (though some of that was due to injury), so it'd be nice to see him rebound. He's definitely capable of it. I'd like to see him at the Cincinnati Masters this year, haven't been lucky enough the last two years since he hasn't made it to the quarters :p

Didn't realize this was Townsends grand slam debut for singles. Into the 3rd round good for her.would be hilarious if she got a sponsorship with taco bell or something. Josh freeman.jpg

Townsend could become a winner at her size. She still moves insanely fast.

She reminded me of Serena in this respect (especially Serena's performance at the 2007 Australian Open when many considered her too out of shape to compete...which she eventually won)

Isner has played 4 tiebreaks so far in the French? I think that makes 30 on the year already lol.

Raonic is the 8th seed? He likey the clay.
Some top women's seeds getting upset so maybe Genie can advance further.
Canada representing.

correct about everything
some hype for the nadal-thiem match, but i can't see anything but easy three sets for nadal. maybe one of them will be kinda close.

It will be something like 6-2, 7-5, 6-1 Nadal

In a sense yes, but I think Townsend's body fat is distributed throughout her body rather than in just a couple places like Serena. Even though Serena and Townsend very well may be similar in weight, you can still see muscle throughout Serena's legs, arms, thighs etc, but with Townsend you don't see nearly as much muscle, she has a gut, and just doesn't look "fit". She can still have some success at this size, but I don't see her having a long career if she doesn't tone it down. The body can only take so much strain as a tennis player, and lack of fitness can shorten a career by many years. I hope she gets that straightened out, but considering she hasn't made any progress losing weight over the last 3 years, I think she's content with just making the best of it.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow, the Thieminator will be back.

Now here is hoping its even more damp tomorrow than it was today and the court are as muddy as they can be, making the balls heavy and impossible to put spin on. :p

Did Sabine injure herself or what? Can't find news on it.

--

Let me get it straight, Mcllroy broke up with Wozniacki, his fiance, a day after the wedding invitations were sent - over a phone call? What. He couldn't be arsed to sit down with here face to face?

She fell and injured her wrist. It's hard to say how serious the injury is, especially with her latest injury/"injury" history. But we'll see tomorrow when she is scheduled for doubles.

Well, bakery products in the first set were avoided as Thiem breaks, after Nadal had set point at 5-1.

Still, Thiem needs to take the ball on more like he did in that last game. Seem a bit too defensive at times, which of course ain't gonna cut it against Nadal.

pretty much confirms that the only one who has even a tiny chance of stopping nadal before the final is ferrer. scary thought.

Not really on the back of a match against weak Thiem.

there is no one in his draw besides ferrer who is better than weak thiem. fognini or murray in the semi are the only ones who could potentially challenge him, but both will probably lose before that because one is a clay court mug and the other is a clown.

I hate that TSN shows the feed from the Tennis Channel/ESPN. Who in their right mind would want to watch Sock vs. Johnson? (Patrick McEnroe aside...)

So I was playing tennis the other day and I'm trying to get back to using my old racquet.

I hit 4 aces (technically 6)...more than I usually hit. And 2 DFs...more than I usually hit. Trying to get reacquainted with it. Hopefully things work out :)
