What I find most incredible about this, apart from him not being in jail, is other Hollywood actors defending this piece of shit. Yes, he is a brilliant film maker but he's a rapist and should have served time for that and there's no excuse for it no matter how brilliant he is.

No, he was told it would probably be his sentence. He and his lawyers knew that the judge could change the sentence.

I'm pretty sure Nicholson loves little girls too. Just imagine all the young girls trying to start a career in Hollywood, the girl Polansky raped was not the first and will not be the last.

Again, this is a very common misconception that the documentary kept putting forward as the absolute truth. Polanski was well aware that the evaluation was not the sentence, and knew that a sentence would have been forthcoming once it completed.
