I maintain that a sequel is utterly unnecessary. This was a perfectly self-contained story. I know Cameron has a three movie arc mapped out, but I'd rather this one be left as is.

It's a minor thing, but on the second viewing I thought that opening shot of Pandora was really not needed. It should have begun with Jake opening his eyes.

And for those saying the colours look much better in 3D; people have to remember that Cameron colour-corrected the film whilst wearing the Real D glasses, so he didn't intend for the colours to be as bright as you see with the glasses off. What you see in 3D is what he wanted you to see.

Which ones have you see it in Scully, having gone 4 times?

So...I just got back from my 3rd viewing. I like the movie even more now than before. I was really able to just fall into the movie this time and stop watching it for all of the special effects. I also had something happen that had not happened the last two times

I teared up quite a bit during hometree this time, I teared up again when Neytiri shouted "Jake, Eywa has heard you...EYWA HAS HEARD YOU!" but it wasnt sad it was just the awesomeness of the scene and then I actually cried a little at the very end when Neytiri held Jake in her arms and they said "I see you".

I dont know why it happened on my 3rd viewing and not before, but I am just that much more into the movie every single time I see it. It really is amazing.

I've seen 3D movies in all types and I can tell you it breaks down like this:

IMAX (true imax that is) has unparalleled sound and scope - best way for seeing it the first time. The projector in true imax isn't digital so there is some very slight ghosting in intense scenes, in this print of the film I found it barely noticable. Most comfortable glasses out of all of them (despite being the cheapest).

LieMAX (fake imax, digital projector) - Sound is much better than Real D, Image fidelity I found to be better than Real D and obviously true IMAX. The glasses are bulkier than Real D, but are also much taller in the frame.

Real D have slightly more comfortable glasses than LieMAX, but fails to recreate the same sound quality. I didn't find the digital projection at Real D as good as LieMAX, but it was still crisp (and better than true IMAX). Screens can vary in size, yet are never bigger than LieMAX to my knowledge).

Dolby 3D is the shittiest of the bunch.

I have no experience with 'Xpand 3D', but from what I've heard from people in this thread it sounds average.

What gives you the impression that I've ever seen the film in RealD?

I prefer LieMAX because the projection is digital. No artifacts and no ghosting. The screen is smaller, but it isn't a heavy price to pay. The sound experience, I found, was equivalent to the true IMAX experience. I've seen some films in RealD but not Avatar. As far as experience goes, IMAX and LieMAX are superior to RealD.

I should also mention that for this particular movie I've seen it once in IMAX (true) and 3 times in LieMAX. LieMAX is definitely the way to go for rewatches imo.

Also says pretty much all complaints regarding character development would be moot when taking the cut footage into consideration.

I'd really like to see that. More than Cameron's other movies, there were seams in Avatar that showed. The opening still feels very compressed. And especially the voice over,

Its origin is in science fiction and it's used mostly humorously in the real world.

And while it's not a substantial criticism of the film, it's a valid one nonetheless -
It's like calling a character Deus Ex Machina.

I really enjoyed the movie.....but tell me is this some sort of inside joke? the whole tearing up bit.....wow. I somehow find that hard to believe considering how cheesy it was
