Guess what GAF? I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. And yes, I would use the word "amazing" to describe it. IMAX made it so much cooler too.

On a side-note, you know the air and space museum where they went to in the movie to find Jetfire? Yea, I watched the movie at the IMAX theater at that museum. I was walking around that area and taking a few pictures of the blackbird jet before the movie since I knew it was Jetfire. When they showed the museum on-screen, everyone clapped and cheered. Pretty cool.

Did you walk out of the Air and Space museum and into the Arizona desert too?

Linkin Park music = male choir singing the music of hell?

With some fingers on the chalkboard thrown in to top it off. Pretty much.

I was implying the same thing by italicizing it as a superficial sign of importance, because there is some truth to it. I wouldn't say it like an actual insult though.
I hold the same opinon of movie reviewers I do of videogame reviewers, that they are full of it most of the time.

If GAF wants to maintain the validity of reviews then GAF will have to surrender to the fact that Star Trek >>> The Dark Knight

Fair enough. The italics and "says you're wrong" should have tipped me off more.

Not going to get into a Star Trek v Dark Knight debate here, but a situation like that seems like any discrepancies that arise could come from the binary nature of RottenTomatoes.

Not really. When did a grouchy old guy's opinion on art become a fact?

Butt hurt your ass. :lol

edit: Just to make myself clear, I'm not even a Linkin Park fan but to call their music as music from hell is clearly an exaggeration.

Are you implying our work wasn't well done? ;)
I'm not going to pick on the SFX because it was really great but there was this one time after Jetfire and the others teleport to Egypt and it's a shot that revolves around them, and some of the mountains looked really blurry and weirdly composited. that actually stuck out to me. that's it from me, though. :P

You worked on the cg in Transformers? Xia?
Me personally? No, I'm in management. ;) But most of our artists here touched it at one point or another.

And there's plenty of shots that were given to other effects houses that we didn't work on directly, but those weren't by any means terrible or anything.

Well I'm sure you guys were limited in what you guys could do with the Transformers outside of designing them. You did well in their actual designs... but their execution in the film were lacking.

Saw it. It was... okay.

I have a lot of complaints about the movie, but the one that stood out the most was the, literally (I'M USING THAT WORD RIGHT), 3 minutes of the camera spinning around Shia and Megan, or the gratuitous use of said camera all over the place.

They have ruined that effect. Congratulations.

So now I'm confused - are you saying the models are fine but the animation isn't?

That line would presumably be about the cacophony of meaningless noise present in the film from dialog to music to, well, metal on metal.

XiaNaphryz said:

Well I couldn't really see the animation to comment. That's mostly due to the editing and the angles chosen for shots.

Most of the time it just looked like a bunch of metal hitting other metal and it never looked like a brawl or engaging fight.

EDIT: If you guys were also involved on the original I thought you did a much better job in that one, even with the close up shots.

XiaNaphryz said:

The CGI was near flawless, including modeling/animation. What was absolutely dreadful was the script. So everything the robots said/did was atrocious. You did a fine job on everything else though! Too bad the film will be remembered as a piece of garbage bc of the scriptwriters and director.

Did one of the robots drop the n word? My friend's convinced that he heard it but I can't remember it (nor did anyone in our group)

I thought it was ok. Not as bad as the reviews say, but not much better.

Yeah, I figured most people were thinking like this. I just wanted to give a bit of a hard time. :lol

The 400 critics around the globe spoke. Then fans around the world spoke.

Transformers made $60.6 million dollars in the United States for a total of around $100 million from the world on opening day! One of the biggest single days in movie history.

Then never seem to understand that I make movies for people to take a ride and escape.

To all the Transformer Fans - Thank You

Michael

So this movie is horrible? D:

Don't listen to the haters. You watched through all of Gundam 00 S2, this pales in comparison. Just go to see robots killing each other for two and a half hours and laugh at some stupid jokes and you'll be fine. At the very least see it for its technical prowess.

That's right! I forget most of you guys actually like anime... :lol
Why I post here, I may never know.

Factually incorrect, whether you like them or not.
Stand corrected, and I don't.

wow, and now a knock against fans of anime. yeah, why do you post here? is it to fuel your belief that you're somehow better than other people? because you seem like a bit of an ass from this direction. i'm not big into sports but that would probably be evident by the fact that i never post in those threads. it seems so easy to not be miserable but it could be because i drink a lot.

Tell me that you're not that stupid and you realize that the original Transformers is an anime.

I was also 8 years old or so when it was on tv.. then i grew up.
And I'm not ragging anime cause its a cartoon,. I'm ragging it because the writing is typically trash, I don't get nor care to get the cooky cultural references that are lost on my American viewership because they clearly aren't targeting me, and I find them mostly cheezey/corny/embarrassing to be caught watching with no redeeming entertainment factor. I may never understand the anime thing.

So your implication here is that anime is only for 8-year olds and older people who haven't "grown up" yet, yes?

Shit, this actually made 60.6 Million yesterday, not 55

Thats only 7 million less than The Dark Knights biggest opening day record of all time :0

The movie should do about 24-30 mil today. Many people are expecting a 180-190 million 5 day take

see my edit.
It's impossible to make a broad statement like that - given the handful of movies people are going to point out just to prove how wrong I am, but I'd say that most anime is targeted at children and teens and is outgrown yes.

Well thats unless the word of mouth spreads that its akin to the experience of firing off a shotgun in a metal room.

We'll see

All I know is that 60 million is about what T4 made in FIVE Days. McG :lol :lol

Did you happen to attend the 9:45 showing of the movie at the Metreon IMAX last night?

I ask because that was apparently an ILM-heavy screening. When the ILM credits came on at the end of the movie, there was an awful lot of cheering from an awful lot of people. Further cheering continued for individual names as they scrolled by.

I wasn't, but it's not surprising if there were a bunch of ILMers and their friends there. Also, there's a decent amount of other film-related companies in the Bay and it's a pretty close-knit community, so there's a good chance there was a bunch of people from other places like Pixar.

As crazy as it may sound, nothing in this movie made me cringe like "CRIMINALS ARE HOT! and This is so much cooler than Armageddon, I swear to God, I hope they got asteroid insurance!"

Also felt that the action was much better, a bit easier to follow what was going on, I liked the story more, music was amazing and the climax was stunning. A definite step up from the first movie IMO.

Yeah...it's fun to go see Pixar movies on opening night at the Bay Street AMC in Emeryville. It's usually crawling with Pixar people.

Hearing cheers from the people who worked on the movies during the credits is always entertaining.

Oh, I thought the CG in RotF was great.

Yeah, RotF had problems, but CG wasn't one of them.

I hate the designs for The Fallen and the Primes though. Ugliest things I've ever seen.

Yeah, I do recall seeing some at a Star Trek screening on its opening week.

I just with that AMC didn't have fake IMAX.

I was never going to go see this, but I honestly can't imagine what people were expecting to hate it this much. It's as if no one saw the first one and forgot who the director was.

I actually liked the first movie, but after I saw it I knew I would never watch it again or watch any sequels. Everyone I know saw the first movie jsut to see how they could pull off the concept in a movie form and it was decent. Now that's I've seen the excecuted concept, I'm not going to show up just to see teh robots again, and I think many people are in that boat.

EDIT LOL ok I just heard from the first person that LOVED this movie. I just turned on my phone and got this message, which cracked me up.

"That movie kicks ass! So fucking great. New characters [and] old ones too. Foxx is so hot. Good comedy great action an they even cus. Go see it dude."

LOL now that's a review. I'm still not seeing it but This guy loved it.
