Royal Rumble |OT| Garbage

I don't follow WWE much anymore except for reading summaries, I bought this PPV thinking this would be the payoff for almost of year of supposedly keyfabe Daniel Brian screw jobs, and was planning to get the WWE network to at least watch the PPVs, but I guess my expectations were too high for this company. I really don't know where the payoff is supposed to be for Bryan's rage against the machine.

Was Batista seriously ever a huge deal with anyone? I mean comeback moments are always pop moments, but they're booking him like he's the Rock.

No, it's an angle. And Vince is laughing about you guys being upset, knowing you're going to buy Wrestlemania or the Network anyway, because just maybe, Bryan may get his chance there.

Jokes on them, haven't bought a PPV since MitB 2011, and at this rate, don't plan to. Dat Lamps are pretty good.

So I guess were going to see most of you tomorrow night? Same RAW time, same RAW channel?
I acknowledge it. It happened. I just wish they let it happen organically. The announcers going on about it made it far too predictable, and the eliminations happened too quickly. Reigns should have entered the match early, and gradually built up to it. That would have helped.

And I will admit that Kane has gotten in much better shape.

This is true. He figures there's more money in dangling the carrot and getting fans to tune in out of anger than there is to actually give them what they want.

The reality is

Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker
Bray Wyatt vs John Cena
CM Punk vs HHH
Randy Orton vs Batista
Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus (unless HBK saves the day)

This year's WrestleMania sounds like crap.

They have 1 single option to save this WM... Elimination Chamber for Batistas spot, you can use the Elimination by Kane as a scape goat saying its a disputed victory. Stick Batista, Punk, Bryan, Reigns, 2 two more pieces of meat in there... Have Bryan come out winner an headline WM.

What you need to notice. None of those people popped a 3.5 rating, pushing the first hour of RAW over five million viewers for the first time in months, not years.

Everyone be stunned when Mick Foley shows up on RAW in a few weeks to help Daniel fight The Authority!

Also worth noticing, none of those three were super pushed main eventers for 6 years, who had a heavily hyped return.

However, none of them won a Rumble while being shat on by the crowd who were chanting for the guy in the opening match, either. So it balances out.

This "but I want my rating NOOOOOW" nonsense is a bandaid. You will NEVER have anyone who pops a 3.5 rating again if you won't build your new stars. You think Batista is going to do anything other than pop the first few ratings? No, he's 45, was injury prone in his 30s, and can't go in the ring.

Building draws takes time. How did Batista's main event push start? Oh yeah, he won the Rumble and main evented WM.

Overall though? Best PPV I have watched in a looooong time.

* Bryan vs Bray was a great match. Bray has always had the goods but has never actually delivered...until now.
* The Big Show getting smacked with a chair for 90 minutes was brilliant writing and I hope they adopt that recipe for all his matches going forward. I also loved that Brock didn't get knocked out by the punch...because having a one hit punch (that he only uses "sometimes") is the dumbest thing ever.
* Cena vs Orton was a complete cluster-fuck of a match. On the other hand the crowd made it extremely fun. I have to respect that Orton at least tried to play to the crowd a bit and I enjoyed seeing him do Cena's moves properly. Cena just did his same old shit but his RKO was pretty well done.
* The Royal Rumble match was only good because of waiting to see Bryan. The rest was mostly boring, but that is a Rumble match for you. When he didn't appear? It got even better.

So thanks to the crowd and the Gaf posts as well. Was great entertainment.

:( that sounds about right. I stopped watching when I realized Bryan wasn't going to get the push he deserves despite every crowd mark or not going apeshit for him. Was going to start watching with the Network but damn I don't want to support the product if they just continually push people no one wants to see. They already fucked up with Punk and now they're fucking up Bryan.

No way in hell I'm supporting the Network with the way the shows are currently. The company's a joke. I used to keep watching in hopes to get that "one moment" every year, but now I just keep up through WrassleGAF to laugh at the constant trolling. I've never watched something so hellbent on screwing with their fans.

For the cash that I paid for #RoyalRumble tonight, nothing followed @WWEDanielBryan vs @WWEBrayWyatt. Those two plus @WWERomanReigns shined.

Agreed 100%.

Best show since SS.

They're building a new draw. His name is Roman Reigns. Expect him to do all the things you want Bryan to do.

On the plus side. Imagine if Bryan was in the Rumble but got eliminated by Batista. That crowd would have destroyed Dave.

They still did.

Giving Bryan a spotlight and having him eliminated would be better than completely ignoring him isn't.

Yet Bray/Bryan was a MOTY candidate and tore the roof off - but that's not enough?

I thought it was a decent PPV.

What cracks me up so much though is that WWE could have avoided all of these 'crowd issues' if they'd just put the belt on Bryan around Summerslam and left it on him. Even if they had just taken the title away next month, it wouldn't have mattered that much since he's have been champion for so long. They booked themselves into this corner because they've delayed it too long and probably pissed off the Bryan fans even further by having this Orton/Cena program again. And let's be frank, Orton shouldn't be champion anyway.

Some guys are dreading Orton vs Batista, but I'm fearing Lesnar vs Batista at Mania.

I believe this is all part of the angle to get people angry to make Bryan even more over.

I also believe that the WWE will completely drop the ball on the "payoff" bit which is supposed to come after all this burial.

So yeah, Bryan got completely buried.

But lets just wait and see where this is going.

All of this is fact.

After tonight, HHH and Vince will be in overdrive mode trying to bury Bryan. Tonight was embarrassing and Bryan's pop had the crowd booing the guy that they've hyped for weeks. Hilarious stuff but the burial is coming.

I don't mind Orton being champion leading into Mania. His character's improved a lot recently and he can actually wrestle, as he has solid matches with most of the talent, but... Batista? Headlining Mania?

wut

Nope. Watched like 30 minutes total of wrestling total, if even that, since Cena buried Sandow back in Oct. or whatever it was. Seeing this shit makes it even worse. I mean look who are in prominent storylines. New Age Outlaws, Kane, Show, Lesnar, Batista, Cena, Orton. Guys that have dominated the scenes for over 10+ years. Ridiculous.

And for the first time ever, I'm considering not buying WrestleMania.
