I think it's because he hasn't changed in years, in a negative way. He always talks about his good ole days like a middle aged man that can't stop referring on how awesome he was in the university years. He always had a decent move set I believe, and could put on a good match when he tried, but his character ran it's course a long time ago.

Probably back in the day, yeah. He wasn't too bad before his knees went to shit, but he couldn't carry a match by himself. He always needs people like the Harts or Michaels to make him look good.
It's a shame Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko were so bad at cutting promos (and that the former did that whole murder/suicide thing). It's like the polar opposite. Although at least Benoit just came across as this Canadian badass in his wrestling.
It was such a short segment, honestly. It was the one where he was all angry about Bad News Barrett crashing the place.

Plenty. I was a teenager at the height of the Attitude era. Never saw the appeal then and still don't now. But even then I knew you didn't actually have to be a good wrestler to be popular. Goldberg was utterly one dimensional, too.
Austin's best matches are ones where he's been carried through by wrestlers who are actually good.

Watch anything of his pre neck injury. What everything he did in 2001. If you really think he couldn't wrestle, then I don't know what else to say. Comparing the in ring abilities of Austin and Goldberg is ridiculous.

Austin, especially pre injury, knew how to put on a wrestling match. He wasn't the most techincal wrestler, but he knew how to put on matches the crowd wanted to see. The Miz makes me want to stop watching wrestling forever.

Yeah, but his popularity spike came after the neck injury and after his knees gave out on him. The point I was making that being shit at wrestling doesn't necessarily mean people are going to hate you (and being good at it doesn't mean people will like you). It's all about the gimmick.
I haven't seen enough of The Miz's to make a judgment call, yet. I just wondered if perhaps it was the "I'm awesome" stuff plus the fact he's just got one of those faces.
EDIT: And come on, 90% of Austin's Attitude-era matches were like "punch, punch, punch, stomp, stomp, stomp, elbow drop, off the ropes, Thesz press, more punches, off the ropes, Stunner." If it was a PPV you might get a sleeper hold or a spinebuster in there. Dude was absolutely mind-numbing to watch.
Dude is a Microsoft fanboy and supports The Miz? Poor guy pretty much walks around GAF with a target on his head.
