The World of Cardboard scene is just perfect. That shit was built up over like 4 seasons of television. Plus, while I may complain about Superman being such a jobber in the early seasons of JL, but that scene wouldn't have been nearly as good if he wasn't.

Flash and Substance is another episode I really love. It demonstrates just what a nice guy the Flash really is. He remembers the names of almost everyone in Central City and helps them with their day to day problems.

Question: does being possessed by a) starro or b) that other weird brain-controlling thing that infested the Watchtower once count as jobbing?

Not at all.

With that said, apparently there was a mistake regarding Starro. They didn't want to make it sound like Supes was controlled by Starro for a long time, only just recently.

Personally I really liked the 'Legends' episode.
Where they did their take on the 'Justice Society'.

'In Seaboard City, crime doesn't pay!'

You know they were once planning to get Dream of the Endless over in a BTAS episode until the higherups nixed it because they didn't want the Vertigo universe popping over into mainstream DC?

Man we got that Doctor Destiny skullfaced guy in JL and we didn't get Morpheus. Lameeee

"You're a credit to your race, son!"
"Uh... thanks...?"

Awesome, awesome set of shows. I still crack up thinking about when Lobo shows up at the Watchtower during their
wake for Superman
.

I watched these the other day on netflix, justice league was awesome, the unlimited version sucked, too many characters nowhere near as good as the original justice league.

Batman Beyond had WAY more innuendo than JL/JLU. It's not even subtle most of the time. And it was an actual Saturday morning show with teenagers as opposed to JL which was on prime time for much of its run and had adult heroes. Kids getting laid everywhere, full on drug usage up to overdosing, child abuse, run aways, tons of clubbing with people probably on X. Shit was gnarly for a Saturday morning show.

While Epilogue is heartwarming, the episode really just feels more like "hah, JL would be shit without Batman! Worship his feet!" in retrospect. That and the fact that they kinda ruined BB in some way.

With that said, I want to see more of that BB-era JL.

It was intended to be a farewell to the DCAU as a whole, which began with BTAS - that's why the final sequence is a reverse shot of the first shot from "On Leather Wings", the first episode of BTAS. So it's only natural it'd be Bat-centric.

Best dirty joke in a cartoon ever. Epilogue spoilers.

I used my old Cadmus connections to gather the technology necessary for project Batman Beyond. Bruce's DNA was easy enough to obtain. He left it all over town ....... not REMOTELY what I meant!

I'm currently watching JL:U after finishing JL. The one thing I didn't like About JL season 1 was how weak they made superman. He kept getting knocked my regular beams and such. Season 2 was way better in that regard.

Are you referring to the
clone/son
thing?
I actually liked that

Yeah, they saw they had a problem and immediately rectified it with the Darkseid episode.

Because The Flash and Kid Flash are voiced by the same actor, maybe? I didn't know that was a thing.

I think Speedy might be voiced by the same actor too. But that feels more like a nod than anything else.

They used the same Speedy design in both series:

I remember the Static Shock ep where the JLU crossed over.

"...Oh, perhaps you'll meet [the Titans] one day, Static!" :lol

Between that and Batman dropping hints that Robin was busy with the Titans in another ep, I think the original plan was to have TT be part of the DCAU. It just soon became its own thing (and both DCAU and TT were better for it, I'd say).

I actually liked that

I'll be honest, it took a while for me to accept it, myself.

I mean, I just thought it was more compelling that Terry and Bruce already had a compelling father-son bond built up throughout the series, without the need for the
"Bruce, you ARE the Father!" genetic gymnastics
that were put into place by Amanda.

It just sort of...I want to say "cheapened" all the character building that was made through the series, for me.

Speaking of which, however...how are the Batman Beyond Unlimited comics? I enjoyed the "Hush" storyline, but fell off afterward.

I don't think it does, but at the same token....I don't see why it couldn't.

Loved the stuff in the first robin v slade fight

"Something something I could be your father"

"I ALREADY HAVE A FATHER"

*pan up, fighting on a Wayne Enterprises building, bats everywhere*

With the A knocked out in the full shot.
LOL

Teen Titans Go doesn't even care, pictures of Bruce Wayne, Batman on the walls
and Robin even has posters of Joker, Two-Face etc(used as target practice) in his room. Punching bag with TDKR Bane & Slade on it.

I loved that episode of JL where they cast all of the Teen Titans VAs in diametrically opposite roles as part of the Royal Flush Gang.

I think Starfire ended up being Ace, haha.

The best episode is where Flash and Lex Luthor switched bodies.

I'm convinced they did that episode only to have fun with Michael Rosenbaum, who voiced Flash in the series but actually played Luthor in Smallville.

The first time I though it was Raven voice actress for some reason.
2nd time it was obvious to me.

Well, Raven was also Batgirl (and... Bubbles, I think?) so Tara Strong has dat range

Oh and Twilight Sparkuru I guess

The DCAU is next up for me after I finish Buffy/Angel. I watched Justice League randomly years ago, but all these clips remind me why I loved it all. Tying the Batman and Superman TAS's into the greater universe with BB later, so damn awesome to see unfold.

Loved this show. The DCAU was excellent and I can't stand DC comic books at all. Kind of sad it's all over but we got so many seasons of great cartoons it's hard to be mad.

These shows actually kinda turn me off of comics.
being a big Batman fan i'd still get them(and only INC after the New52)
they felt like the definitive versions and as long as one was ongoing I didn't really need much more.

I'm so pissed we never saw Cass Cain (and still haven't to this day) in an animated work.

The two second unnamed cameo on that JLU episode where they go to a Vandal Savage-dominated future and Bats is the leader of a crazy resistance movement doesn't count

DCAU hated Cass before hating Cass was cool.

I have my fingers crossed for Beware the Batman.

Hating cass was only cool because they completely fucking screwjobbed her post-52. Worst, most horrible heel turn I've ever seen.

I mean her own original series wasn't totally brilliant but was it was pretty enjoyable, it had her dealing with Steph's apparent demise at that time and she got to hang out with Superboy before they fucked THAT up too, she had language issues (you never fucking see that in heroes!) and she was just generally coming out of her shell until they just nuked Bludhaven for some goddamn reason. Cass was fucking baller.

People say skip the first season, but I think they should skip the last season. Outside of the Flash episodes, it isn't good at all. They clearly didn't expect to make that season and the stories and writing are really uninspired. It's such a bummer coming off the greatness right before it.

Season one is okay, but they went a little heavy with the two parters and Superman getting his ass kicked all the time. Season two of JL and season one of JLU are unstoppable. On the rewatch, one of my favorite episodes was the dream guy in season 2. All of the League falling asleep into their nightmares as a voice laughs over all of them was one of the creepier moments in the entire series.

As for the Bat Embargo, I thought Huntress/Black Canary were Bat-related, so why were they allowed on the show when everyone else had been cut out?

Grodd/Luthor trying to out-smug each other is the best part of season 5, the legion of doom pretty much make the season. I'm glad that they didn't end with a predictable "final battle" between both sides, the league had pretty much no idea what they were up to most of the season. The Hawkman shit was weak though.

"You're a technological cretin. A sadistic child playing with power tools." - Grodd

"I'm the superior being. Both physically...and mentally." - Grodd

"I'm already more powerful than all of you put together." - Luthor

"I'm a sick person too." - Luthor

"Why is my headquarters moving?" - Grodd

Yep, I hate that I didn't care for her much until a year before she was gone.
She becomes my number 2 comic character and im there just in time for the New52 to wipe her out.

Her and Wally are the only none legacy versions I greatly prefer.

Cataclysm and No Man's Land was some of the best arcs in Batman. They didn't make any fucking sense in the larger DC Universe but it led to some awesome fucking stories about the Batclan.
At that time I was still a 'bring Babsgirl back' person.
Liked when Cass came back as Black Bat so I re read alot of stuff and saw the error of my ways.
exact same thing happened to me with Huntress
