RTX 5080 | Review Thread

I'm looking to build a PC at some point later in the year, I understand that this card is shit from a gen to gen comparison, but for someone like myself building for the first time, it's a solid card right?
Building for the first time this is a great card, people just expected better improvement over the 4000 series

You will be very happy with a 5080 build

This reminds me of 2080 vs 1080 where the raster wasn't much better, but it had raytracing.

Or maybe it was 2080 ti vs 1080 ti. Can't remember lol

2080 to 3080 was a nice jump at 700$. And that's how much I''ve paid for it. Adjusted for inflation, it's still cheaper than 5080.
1080 to 2080 was maybe not that much faster but good enough and introduced RT and dlss. I remember I've bought 2070 ESPECIALLY FOR METRO EXODUS.
A buddy got 2070 and I had 1060 at the time, He brought that shit over, I tried metro exodus "yep" and ordered one for myself :D

Yeah I feel this is a small bump in performance but they added fake frames as the selling point lol.

yeah.. 1060 to 2070 was amazing jump.
Then jump to 3080 was incredible. Like I was so impressed. that 3080 was a fucking beast on release week. I remember watching exciting OC videos, running benchmarks (I love benchmarks) and it genuinely excited me.
But covid destroyed pc parts market and we still feel it today

So the 5000 series for now supports Smooth Motion thats frame gen for games which don't have frame gen. 4000 series support will come later.

been playing around with my 5080 and the OC vids definitely weren`t golden samples after all, or I got one as well...... I´m not done testing yet, but at least the OC levels ~3200/+375 we`ve seen in the vids run rock solid and still very cool.
That thing is redeeming itself at least a tiny bit right now.
Can`t remember the last GPU with that much out of the box OC potential without even running noteworthy hotter....
This reeks of artificial placement by NVIDIA.... 5080S/TI incoming.

I can see a 5080s even if everyone thought the gb203 die is maxed out in 5080.

Just cheap tweaks to clocks and use 3gb nand for 24gb vram.

Reminds me of 4870 to 4890

Jensen wins again.
