Rumor: Oblivion Remastered Coming to Switch 2

At 540p 20fps-27fps! I kid. Well... not really. Not sure why anybody would make the Switch 2 their main 3rd party AAA platform. You're going to get by far the worse looking/performing version by default.

Just my 2 cents.
Well, consoles are too expensive for most people to have 2 or more... Also most games run well enough, I mean, there's people even in GAF that see 30 fps as "good enough" even for 7th gen consoles (around 20fps mostly First Person Shooters)... And Nintendo audience is made by many people that really REALLY don't care about western realistic games, mostly indies, cozy, japanese AA games, those run perfectly well even on Switch 1 most of the time.

Because not everyone wants to spend $1000 or more on 2 or 3 gaming systems ... Much less have the money to do so without impacting their bills.

OR

Because they'd rather have a system that has Nintendo games where they can also play some 3rd party games.
True, but I've never met, nor know of anybody (other than children maybe) who don't at least game on PC, PS, or Xbox and only have a Switch.

And if money is a major issue, maybe Switch 2 isn't the right choice given a Mario Kart game cost $80 digitally and $90 physically.

But I suppose their are a few out there. But I can't imagine limiting myself to the Switch 2 only. That would suck for many reasons imo

I disagree. I think the majority of gamer's have PC/PS5 as main platform, with Switch 2 as a secondary. I think most gamers have more than 1 platform.

Mario Kart costs $90 physically? What region are you talking about? From some of your other posts, I assumed you lived in the US.

The majority of the ones you see on GAF and are actively interacting about gaming, but I'm afraid to tell you that we're a bunch of freaks to actual casual players, most of them have a laptop to play online games with friends and maybe a Switch or just a Switch and call it a day.

It also surprised me when I knew people like that IRL but Switch as main or only platform is very popular among casuals or among fans of specific genres like cozy and JRPGs, they're mostly people with closed communities in discord or social media, but they don't tend to interact in sites like GAF.

Glad you're on the same page. $450 for subpar performance is a real bummer when you could get something better.
I hope you play on high end PC because whenever PS/Xbox fans say these things it makes many PC players eye roll... If you're talking about portable performance, there will not be a better portable machine than Switch for a while anyway.

Isn't the outdoor areas running at 360p-512p on the Series S?

Should expect something similar or lesser than that, but with their new DLSS custom upscaler from Nintendo.

Worked well for CP2077 and Street Fighter 6 running from a lower base native resolution.

Every third party game is going to end up on the Switch 2 , and the haters are going to cry 😂

Not hating here. Just telling facts. 3rd party AAA are going to look/perform worse on Switch 2 vs consoles all ready out(PS5 Pro, PS5,XSX, XSS). It's going to be a repeat or the Switch 1. What's even worse, is that games are only going to get more demanding and a Steam Deck 2, Xbox handheld, PS handheld are 1-2 yrs away.

Do you have a trusted channel for the analysis?

Yeah, if this does get ported to the Switch 2, it'll be an interesting test case for the limits of the system's DLSS capabilities. The Switch 2 vs. Series S comparison videos are going to spawn some wild discourse, regardless of the results.

But this time, we get MADDEN.

How well does it run on the steam deck?

no multi-system owner buys the switch version as their main go-to, we buy them generally as a side option for the convenience. I'm not going to lug around my ps5 for family trips but i will happily bring my switch and rog ally

Let's also look at a forward-thinking company like CDPR with cross-saves for the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk. These guys and gals are ON IT.

I get that. But most aren't going to throw down $70 bucks for a watered down port just for handheld convenance are they?

Most, nah. Personally though? Depends on the game. I dont know about you but I'm triple dipping on Elden Ring and Halo MCC when they inevitably release. And I will happily double dip on this $50 game as well

I'd argue its less about the quality of the switch itself and more about how devs get around it.

But again, it wouldnt be my primary choice. For third party games it pc first, but if the game was fun enough I'll buy it on my other platforms

I do mostly, but still, if you're going to release a console don't let it be a shitty experience. I have a switch, and I gotta say it has some of my favorite titles. But holy hot damn do some of them run like complete ass. I understand what Nintendo is trying to do, but I do wish I had the option to play some of their games on a dedicated device that has enough resources and power to simply be a smooth experience, let alone a truly high definition one. For the next 10 years, we still can't hit 1080p without upscaling from 540p and so many people just ate it the fuck up for the same price as a PS5.

Tye game is running UE5 using completely new graphics, animations, lighting, physics etc... It looks like a modern game and struggles with performance even on PS5 Pro,PS5, XSX
yep but it is a 2006 game ie ...if they wanted to make a proper port for S2 at 1080p and 120 fps ...and improve the graphics from 2006...they easily could.

But will they? Probably not. They will instead demake this remake for S2 and it will be the worse for it.

btw they could have easily made it run great on the PS5 etc if they wanted to.

Well, there we can mostly agree, I wish Nintendo released a TV only Switch version with uncapped GPU clocks because I never take the thing out of the dock, I like playing on my TV.

But then again, Switch 2 is a great hardware so far and everything looks good so far, the upscaling to reach 1080p is just so it can reach current gen quality as we've seen in every single footage released. I wouldn't start complaining about it now tho, as long as this game runs well I think that's the only thing mattering in this thread.

So many devs are rushing to bring their games now on S2. I think games are receiving special treatment for S2, and it benefits the port greatly

Saved... For when you're proven wrong

…of course it is? What is ever a question?

What Xbox title that can be made to run on Series S wouldn't be ported or released alongside Switch 2?

Xbox has made it quite plain they want to release games on PS and Nintendo wherever possible. This shouldn't be this crazy notion any longer. It's their stated policy going forward.

well it already runs like absolute ass on every system... so I wonder how it will run on there lol.
it seems to be insanely CPU heavy.
