Although, right away an established game changing characters is a red flag. No different than if Tomb Raider suddenly changed from Lara Croft to Larry Croft.
Also, the main character is based on a loud and vocal queer person . Thats another warning sign the game may take on political motives just for the heck of it. But if GoY turns out to be a lesbian plot game instead of a mainstream action plot in ancient Japan, that's begging for the woke label.
But assuming, GoY is a straight up action adventure game like the first one but with a different and non-political topic story and main character, it should be fine. However, game studios should always weigh the risks between man vs woman leads pending the game and history of the franchise.

In this particular case, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I don't ignore the red flags, but there are good reasons for the gender swap, one being that it's easier to differentiate from the previous game if the character is a woman. That should impact gameplay and the story. If the protagonist were another rogue male and the setting didn't change that much, the sequel would become too similar. The DLC of Infamous Second Son feels different because Fetch is the protagonist. I expect something along those lines.
About grifters, this Endymion guy is a whack but I don't find him any different from "more respected" assholes like Shinobi, Jason weasel Schreier and the whole progressive lot and those are cited as "reliable sources" despite their activism and their blatant lies, like the ones told in the Wukong media debacle.

There's a big difference between prohibiting sources because they offend some, and prohibiting "sources" that very clearly make things up for Twitter and YouTube cash.
This is a nuanced point and largely relies on reading the room and having social skills, so it's not surprising that it's not an easy grasp for some people.
Guys like Shinobi or Schreier may be annoying to talk to and have politics that we don't like or agree with, but they have a proven track record of reliability in news delivery. That's why people tolerate them, because there's gain to be had after the annoyance.
But a guy who is clearly just lying, AND is also pushing annoying and useless tripe into the discourse.. So there's zero gain from talking about his content, and it only furthers his lies.

There's an outrage culture war YouTuber who wears a mask and secretly runs a true 100% Neo-Nazi channel on Bitchute with a similar masked character. The takes his Neo-Nazi Bitchute scripts and re-uses them on YouTube, just swapping out his Neo-Nazi hate for "women", "SJWs", "woke", etc. A couple of years ago, he made up a fake "leaked" Indy 5 plot that got spread around places like 4chan and Reddit, and people believed it to be 100% real:

One thing I have discovered lately is that very surprising amount of people watch youtubers talk about games or movies then act like they experienced it themselves back in the day and regurgitate the exact same nitpicks. It's a weird way of acting like they were there or something? I just don't understand it
Also I watched Indy 5 in theaters and while the film isn't amazing, that summary is just utterly hilarious. Amazing what some people will believe just because they heard on YouTube.

It's really frustrating. There are so many legitimate complaints on these exact topics, but a default setting of "Spurned and Outraged" is not helpful, insightful, or welcoming.
