Rumor: Uncharted 5 in the works

Max i can tolerate in semi realistic but not that realistic setting is kill bill movies, that was crazy enough to not take itself seriously but kinda set in modern day society w/o magic, u still had martial arts training on way above realistic lvl tho :)
Keep in mind kiddo beatrice never had/used physical advantage vs even avg looking males, she mostly used her katana, like 90%+ of fighttime.
TLDR Female protag used her skill/technique/quick thinking outside the box, not physical strenght advantage/durability like for example abby used multiple times in tlou2(which was crazy immersion breaking).

From actual games- game isnt out yet but maybe ghost of yotei, hard to say as of yet tho.
Yeah.. you gonna hate GoY then…

rip :messenger_astonished:
Edit: yups, looks like she is very tiny, not only weaker/smaller/lighter from most males but even from 2 other women we see in her campfire/allies screenie(feudal japan, so no steroids back then, at most 120lbs, likely not even 100lbs on her), and she uses 2h katana/manhandles men like they are 10lbs puppets =/

Uncharted gets a harsher critique than it deserves from a lot of people. Machine Games heard you guys loud and clear. Made one of the most depressed and boring games I've ever played. Graphics and assets were amazing, the stuff you did with them was so boring I honestly couldn't believe it as the hours progressed. This is what you did with that? They drove a Vantage GT12 no faster than 55mps for a 15 hour road trip through beautiful scenery. Windows up. Heat on just high enough to make you slightly moist and your watch fit a big tighter.

But Uncharted is just pure euphoria. The way they released them, it was just a non stop, amazingly paced roller coaster ride, showing off the best graphical techniques of the hardware generation. People wanted to talk about "oh you shoot so many people. don't you feel bad about that? How deep am I for playing such an exciting piece of entertainment art and coming away with that? Despite that being the modus operandi of 83% of every video game ever made. Dot touch dot win points.

Not having a globe trottin', treasure snatching, native dispatching Uncharted 6 on the PlayStation 5 is breach of fiduciary duty by Sony.

Yawn, another girlboss. Somebody remind them that uncharted idea was more or less a male counterpart to Lara Croft. What if the next Tomb Raider was Lara's son 20 years later, how well would that go over?

We always see it go one way, female Witcher, female Uncharted, female Gears of War, etc, never the other way though.

It's because men have dominated as protagonists of AAA games and Blockbuster films.

I love all the Uncharted games and I'll take -almost- anything as long as it's got a decent Uncharted feel to it. If they stick weird stuff in it though like in TLoU 2/TLoU DLC, I'm out and probably will be done with Sony consoles for along while until they get their shit together.

I wonder if the brass at Sony mandated it not be melodramatic and weird. Neil probably got the email that he had to make an Uncharted game to keep his job and was all down in the dumps until he realized Drake has a daughter that he could portray at a young teenager. I sure fucking hope so. A new Uncharted, made with the original ingredients and proportions would be a sight for sore eyes. A betting man would say it won't be that though.

Nate gets killed by Cassie's girlfriend turned traitor and Cassie goes to hunt her down with Sam. And makes up with her in the end. Look forward to it.

Because for ACTION men are more capable and dont break the suspension of disbelief. You know, because of that little thing called "biology". A female Conan looks ridiculous in live action, a porn parody at best.

Anyway, it's a lie that only now the entertainment industry is having females in leading roles. In fact, most modern female MCs are just men with a bad female skin or non-human individuals. ¿Real women? Very few. One of the most annoying things of this "trend" is that they pose as if they were doing something revolutionary. Everything was invented half a century ago.

If they're really making this with the intended cast as rumored, this game is being made for no reason other than showing pure spite of the original fanbase.

Druckmann needs to leave ND before I ever buy another one of their games.

I wasn't making a value judgement, just explaining why the phenomenon of a male-led franchise gets handed over to a female seems to work only one way, and not the opposite.

It always amuse me the "story of X character is over" argument ... just like the Witcher...

Its a fucking video game.. not some movie that you need a live actor or still young actor to keep going... you can do whatever you fucking want ... you dont want to use the character.. ok dont use.. but dont come with the "end of story" bullshit excuse

I guess you guys also cheer when Harrison Ford comes everytime on screen as a 60yo whipping like a 24yo guy charming woman younger than him by a decade.
It's not JUST a video game when the game focuses so much on its narrative, people grow old and have kids and they reflect back on their journey. Would be ok for Doom guy to be in 8 games, it doesn't fit with me to have Drake at it again.

If the game/pacing is amazing, I would love a new set of eyes on an adventure. Don't wanna see a perfect ending being bastardized for more money. Gamers hate anything new and then complain nobody does anything new.

I want to play an Uncharted game, but with more of an adventurous spirit. The last two games — Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy — felt more like mercenaries doing a job for money or something. Otherwise, they were crafted very well, with big set pieces and all the bells and whistles. But this time, I want the game to be made by someone who loves Uncharted and truly understands it.

Naughty Dog should have made Uncharted 5 while Druckman was distracted with his HBO hobby.

Now that Druckman is back there is a risk that beloved characters will be brutally murdered by him.

I think TLOU1 and Uncharted 2 are the best games they ever did.

Uncharted 4, Lost Legacy and TLOU2 were awesome too in most areas, but regarding writing and pacing I think that even if they had good things, they also had important issues, particularly in Lost Legacy. And most of them related to the wokism stuff of hating white, male, heterosexual protagonism and with wanting to make the games longer than I personally prefer.

I think she (plus the rest of the teams) did a great job at Soul Reaver and ND, and that her idea for the Uncharted 4 story was better: basically the same but without including Nadine, and regarding Sam starting him as a more manipulative antagonist (without flashback) but that across the game would reconciliate and reunificate with Drake. What I didn't like of her idea for the game was to mostly remove the combat to focus way more in exploration/investigation/puzzles, because I think shootings are a pilar for the franchise and helps a lot to the pacing of the game when alternating shooting sections with narrative cutscenes and portions of exploration and puzzles.

I was looking forward to her Uncharted-ish Star Wars game, but sadly didn't go anywhere and got cancelled when EA wanted to shift more to MP.

But if I have to choose between Soul Reaver+Hardline+Forspoken and TLOU1+2, U4+ULL, I prefer the ND output.
Isn't her talent currently being wasted on that Marvel 1943 bullshit?

Yes, ahm no. After Last of Us 2 i will never buy a single game of this studio anymore.
Can't wait for the scene in 5 where they murder Nathan so his daughter gets plot trauma to continue her dads legacy

According to known (?) DanielRPK Naughty Dog's second team is working on Uncharted 5 instead of a The Last of Us sequel. They've supposedly been working on this for three years already.

This tweet says the protagonists will be Nathan Drake's daughter and his brother.

Personally I find that hard to believe. Who the hell wants to play in a mainline Uncharted game as Cassie or Sam Drake? Sony wants to make better use of their PS IPs by turning them into movies and TV series. It's counterproductive to try make Uncharted's Nathan Drake an established movie brand and then go the other way in the actual games.

Heard there is a Last Of Us 1 & 2 directors cut re-remaster in the works as well.

Sam?
A straight white male as a main character?

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

I hope Drake's daughter is a total Lesbian slut to compensate or that we get a cutscene that reveals that Sam is secretly gay and was the prison's blow up doll.

Still waiting on someone to post an AI picture similar to Joel's fate replacing the golf club by a treasure chest and Joel replaced with Nathan. Ellie replaced with either Elena or Cassie. Abby replaced with that dog looking all innocent, but we know better.

Calling this idea "new" is a joke. It's the laziest and cheapest idea possible. Peak creative bankruptcy.

Something "new" would be a pirates game with the original Francis Drake or a completely set of characters in the modern era with different gameplay and storyline. They could do lot of things with the IP respecting its tone and adventureous mood. This is not it.

Uhhh a proper reimagining of Pirates! Gold, starting as a merchant, ending as a pirate!
I would buy it!

Personally, I think the conversation will be on that more than ever. Indiana Jones showed everyone how it can be done. You can have a focus on puzzles, exploration, stealth, and comedic violence with found objects instead of just mass murdering waves of people. It even opens with him being a teacher at a college and showing the museum he curates, which helps with criticism about imperialism; not to mention it takes place during WW2 during the end of glamorizing orientalist exploration. Uncharted just has to figure out a better hook for the whole premise to take it to the next level. There's a reason Indiana Jones is a beloved character and Nathan Drake is not.

I suspect that if they really are moving towards Cassie Drake, these issues will be front and center in the game and will likely make it a better game. If she has a kill count that dwarfs Arnold in Commando, it'll look pretty ridiculous.
Interesting I have yet to play Indiana Jones so maybe I should give it go.

I guess as long as the sections are fun between the main action it doesn't matter what they are.

But Uncharted 4 and to lesser extent Lost Legacy are not the answer. Those mindless walky/talky story sections need to go in the bin or at least be heavily cut back.

I'm not one of these ADHD gamers that has to kill something every second. The balance was fine in uncharted 1 to 3 I like breathing space between action it was just way too much in Uncharted 4.
