Rumor: Uncharted 5 in the works

From all the "anti woke" or whatever comments ITT, it seems that.
  • All games have to have male leads
No we all love Tomb Raider
  • All males have to be "alphas" and not "cucks"(apparently you can tell if a character in a game has been cheated on, who knew?)
We like our guys to be normal, Nate was a down to earth funny dude you could have a pint with
  • If a women appears, she has to be much weaker than a man
Yeah you go fight Nadine
  • If a woman appears she must look like Sydney Sweeney*
Well.... Is that a bad thing?
  • * Exceptions can be made if the woman has comically big tits, long hair and wears almost no clothing
This ain't no Korean game
  • Any other woman are ugly so not allowed
Humans like looking at other pretty humans shocker..
  • Gays are not allowed
We ain't got no issue with the Gays, GBOL (great bunch of Lads)
  • No blacks or Asians
We ain't got no issue with the blacks or Asians, GBOL
Is that it?
It's quite tricky to get your head round.
Yeah you just made up a load of horseshit to validate your issues, probably why you got banned from the thread and ran back to Reee to be with your gender neutrals

You and I played very different games, then again I don't let my prejudices dictate how I enjoy my games, it's was a bloody masterpiece chap, I'm currently on a 2nd run through and it's just incredible what they created

The story is woke trash. There is nothing about it to call it a masterpiece. Graphics, cutscenes, voice acting and gameplay are amazing, I would never deny that. But the story and writing are woke propaganda and cringe

Hasn't worked out well for her either. She hasn't shipped a game since leaving. The SW game was canceled and Marvel 1943 is going through development hell.
ND has Sony to back them up, its a huge income of money and stability that let ppl work properly, she may never have this again, but for sure she was a great creative director and lead writer when she was on ND, i would love to see she and Bruce back in the ND team, and Neil out.

Very doubtful she will ever return to Sony. I think those bridges are burnt to the crisp.

Once ND shareholders and Sony start to lose money on Neil "Art" they ll have to look back and they ll need to understand what made them successful and what ppl contributed to that, she may have another shot in the future even if Sony did her dirty, like always, money talk.

Isn't her talent currently being wasted on that Marvel 1943 bullshit?
I don't know, we'll see how good that 'Captain America and his diverse friends at the WWI' game is.

I think that in terms of visuals and parts of the story will be great, but wokism will turn its story into a total crap, will tank in sales and may end being the last AAA game made by Skydance.

Once ND shareholders and Sony start to lose money on Neil "Art"
ND is a fully owned SIE subsidiary, the only shareholder is Sony. Like all the other internal first party studios, they report to Hermen Hulst (CEO of SIE Studios Business Group, everything related to SIE's first party IPs).

Meaning, if their games start to tank Hermen and his team will make all the changes needed if the studio itself isn't able to fix their issues.

I'll believe it when I see it. She's big enough in the industry where if she needs money, there're plenty of publishers who will give it to her. She's also in her 60s. It's not like she's going to be working much longer.

So far wokism aside he's doing a great job managing PS Studios, it's understandable that they promoted him to be the CEO of SIE Studios Business Group (now also getting Bungie and PS Productions under this umbrella):
  • In 4 of the last 5 years (period Hermen has been in charge) one of the new games he released broke the launch sales record for any Sony first party game
  • Their first party games won a gazillion awards including the games that pretty likely are the two first released games he greenlighted as head of PS studios: Astro Bot and Stellar Blade (the third would be Death Stranding 2)
  • Making a rough extrapolation to estimate them, their first party game must be making aprox. around twice the revenue they were making when he started
    • Around 40% of that revenue during this quarter was due to their expansion to GaaS
    • Due to the extrapolation, the amount of money their first party make off-PS should be similar to the one they did in PS before he started
  • Via hirings and acquisitions aprox. doubled the manpower of their first party teams including support teams
    • Teams like ND, SSM, Guerrilla got expanded to the point now work in multiple big games at the same time, Polyphony now has 4 offices
    • Got new lead dev teams like Bungie or Housemarque plus resurrected Liverpool Studio+Evolution (+Bizarre Creations+got part of Supermassive back) acquiring Firesprite
    • Got support teams like Bluepoint, Nixxes or Valkyrie
    • Successfully restructured and expanded Japan Studio splitting again their internal and external development teams, and greenlighted them games like Astro Bot, Stellar Blade, Death Stranding 2, Physint or Lost Soul Aside
    • Did shut down unsuccessful studios like Pixel Opus, London Studio, Firewalk and Neon Koi
    • Did open new studios like Team LFG, Dark Outlaw or in the support area the Malaysia Studios branch of their main internal support team
  • Increased their investment in 2nd party games to record levels for the generation
    • With existing partners like Arrowhead, Kojipro, Sumo, Koei Tecmo or (including becoming their top shareholder and signing dedicated strategical partnerships) Kadokawa/Fromsoft
    • With new partners like Shift Up, (ex-Supermassive) Ballistic Moon, ARC System Works or Chinese ones
    • Licensed their IP to several top Asian companies to make mobile gaming adaptations

will be interesting to see the tech, but cant stand uncharted gameplay
watered down everything, but set pieces + cinematic flair

hope they borrow from TLoU; creeping + shooting people was good in that.

She shipped Battlefield Hardline and Forspoken.
You keep throwing these around like some kind of "gotchas" without context.

EA has a vastly different creative and development culture compared to that of Sony (at the time, at least). Over there, one thing counts above all: money. You can't count on something like Hardline coming out as some kind of auteur work from Wilson & Co.. Its about shoving the shit out and grabbing the money. She's credited for "additional directing" anyway.

As for Forespoken, she provided the "storyline concept". Can't exactly pin it on her for the way it turned out and didn't resonate with a lot of people.

They aren't gotchas: they are facts. After she left Sony she worked in Battlefield Hardline, the cancelled Star Wars game, Forspoken and now the Captain America game.

And obviously in these games, like in ND or the Legacy of Kain games -as she said, because it's how it works in all AAA companies- she was part of a team with many other people also took part in the creative process and top decisions. AAA games -with maybe Kojima as the single exception- aren't auteur things: they are made by large teams where a lot of people take their own decisions even if agreed/approved by other ones, people are key for their own different areas.

Her role isn't always the same and changed or has been credited differently depending on the team or project.

You're presenting them without context as mentioned before. Your "facts" are misconstruing her contributions to paint her in a bad light. I'll just leave it at that.

Her contributions have been being part of the direction/creative direction/narrative teams of AAA teams where there was more people, same as she did before.

The main difference being that now has been working in other companies, and that every generation the AAA teams get bigger so there's more people involved.

She shipped Battlefield Hardline and Forspoken.

I'm talking about when she's the creative director of a game, not just a contract writer. Writers aren't tasked to ship the game. They do their writing, and then they bounce to the next project. Ian Milham and Takeshi Aramaki were the directors of BF Hadline and Forspoken respectively, and the ones responsible for completing the shipping the game.
