I wouldn't call them bad managers at all, they are best in class: their first party games broke sales records in 4 of the last 5 years, won a ton of awards, made this gen more profits than in all previous generations combined and this is the revenue change they had this generation in all areas:

The Wii U had an incredible first party lineup though, so that makes sense. Proof is that a good a deal of the best Switch 1 games were just Wii U ports. People didn't like the Wii U because they didn't give it a shot, but it's one of my favorite libraries.

One of the dumbest decisions ever, just put a different studio than Naughty Dog on it. That would've been THE Defacto Live Service game for Sony.

I can see that they aproximatedly doubled their first party revenue during this push, and that this quarter 40% of their first party revenue came from GaaS. Meaning, even if their non-GaaS part also grew, they doubled their revenue mostly thanks to money coming from GaaS.

And outside their first party games, almost all their metrics kept growing during this push to all time records too.

So no, they didn't mess anything. As usual in gaming they had some delays, cancellations and not greenlighted pitches, which is normal business for gamedevs, something that always happened since the 70s in all companies, and obviously most of the cases in non-GaaS particularly.
