Still waiting for some sign of how Putin is outsmarting everyone in the world. Guy never even read a book written for adults and people bought that he was a genius.

His reputation for intelligence and political maneuvering got destroyed just like the illusion of Russian military might.

Turns out he is just like every other inept and unprepared dictator from the annals of history.

"Now i got a 2S19M2 Msta-SM2
HOHOHO"

That is amazingly funny.

Seriously, there should be a vote to remove Russia form the UN security council.
A country that is so pathetic in military, economics and politics, should not have such a powerful vote.
And mind you Russia is the country that has used the it's veto power the most. Almost always to cause dissent and problems.

Arguably, the worst.

I genuinely struggle to think of another leader from history who has made such a massive strategic blunder. Militarily, politically, economically, socially…

Pre-invasion, the west was divided, unsure of itself, riven by division caused by things like Brexit and Trump, far too reliant on both Russian and Chinese trade, and flailing around with no sense of a shared identity or common purpose.

In six months Putin has completely reversed that decline. It’s quite incredible.

NATO is galvanised, and growing in size. The EU has woken up to the stupidity of hitching itself to Russia economically. Russia’s online campaign of disinformation and cyber warfare has been spiked. China’s immediate aspirations towards Taiwan have been blunted. The US economy is strengthened. Our love affair with cheap fossil fuels has been punctured.

Honest to god, these last two years will be studied for centuries to come as a major turning point in geopolitical history.

Maybe Tsar Nicolai II. He reverted the changes his grandfather had done, that would improve Russian society.
He refused to give up any measure of power. Only after the 1905 uprising, did he agree to create the Duma. But even then, with limited powers.
His reign had hundreds of revolts, some small, some bigger, all over the empire. With constant use of brutal military force to quell dissent to his reign.
His government was a big factor in stating WW1, by instigating and supporting the Serbian nationalists, that killed the Franz Ferdinand. And by being the first to mobilize his army on the borders of Austria-Hungary and Germany.
And during the war he made the fatal decision to take personal control of his army, that was already losing the war. So further defeats were squarely blamed on him.
He also made the mistake of not leaving the country when he could, after the 1917 revolution. Leading to his death and of his whole family.

I don't think it's so much that, I think it's more what he can get away with. He's former KGB right?

Essentially - he knows where the bodies are buried so to speak. I bet he's got some rrriiiiight filth on folks 😂

A skirmish between border guards took place on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, TASS reports. During the conflict, a Tajik border guard was killed. The situation at the border area where the conflict occurred remains tense. According to the Kyrgyz border service, Tajik border guards violated agreements and took up positions on the border, ignoring the demands of the opposite side. According to the border service of Tajikistan, Kyrgyz border guards opened fire without any reason.

On the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, a firefight has started again, writes RIA Novosti with reference to the Kyrgyz border service.

Seems like it's only a matter of time now before Russia announces their surrender and retreat.

I will admit however there's a small part of me worried this crazy fucking asshole will throw the most historical hissy fit and order nukes to be launched. I understand there's a whole chain of command when making such an order, it's not like Putin himself has a red button he can push, but still. If there's one things these past few years have taught me is just because it's unlikely to happen, doesn't mean it won't happen.

There are some rumors about a bomb attack against Putin, while traveling in his armored car, to his residence.
Still nothing from reliable sources.

Why would we want to fuck ourselves up?

Then what about next time? Let's say Ruzzia wins with help of the Chinese Pooh Party, and no one does anything. The next time they attack someone else and win, then again and again.

Ok, we did not "fuck ourselves". They both control everything, they will be able to do anything unchecked (set rules, set laws, set whatever they want) because people will be conformable with that happening. I do not think either of them will be good rulers of the world.

Then what if the Ruzzia and the Chinese with all their power decide to fuck up? Everything will be in their hands, with no allies because well no one wants to "fuck ourselves".

This quote explains all:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Decoupling from China has been in progress for a number of years. A lot of this moving to Vietnam and other SEA nations. Also, creating local supply chains has been a focus as well - and went into overdrive due to COVID. While China builds a lot, it's not "everything" and a lot can be supplanted after the initial acute pain... Besides, they'd hurt themselves more - and export based economy that can't export isn't much if an economy.

Anyways, that's a digression.

China is no fool. Its military is more competent than Russia's but still very much a paper tiger. China favors soft power since it believes in an inevitable collapse of the west. China will use its "deep partnership" with Russia to bleed out the gas station while using the surplus to further its policy goals in Central Eurasia and beyond.

Yeah I'm starting to think there's no way Ukraine launches an attack on Kherson from the north. About 80km of open territory controlled by Ukraine and a shit load of Russian troops.

To the West they are about 10km to the airport on the outskirts. There's 4 or 5 towns along the coast at the Very south on the coast leading into the city. If they're going to launch an assault from anywhere it will be there.

They'll probably just keep grinding away until they're within striking distance. I hope there's progress here before the winter kicks in. It would suit the Russians to take shelter in the city while it's minus 20 degrees outside. I don't think the Ukrainians would fancy being on the outside.

The kharkiv troops are resting up and consolidating it seems. If they could get another push in before winter I think that would be a good years work.

Edit: Meh, it's a race to the bottom for the ruzzians as usual, vote rigging is not really news per se.

I'm not sure.

I just can't help but feel that this is merely a starter. Something that will seem small in the scheme of things.... Something that will be proved as a footnote in comparison to what is coming. Something is off.... Something isn't quite right here.

I for one am certainly not looking forward to the next chapter. *At* All.

...Or we could consider the entire thing literally as it is. Neighbouring fighting in a dog eat dog world. Personally, I'm leaning towards the former. Realistically, the latter is the best case. I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Putin shitting Brics now

If Xi is speaking truthfully and not trying to lure Kazakhstan with Russian quality promises covering imperialist intent, and aside from offering an alternative to Kazakhstan strengthening ties with the West, it may be after seeing the security vulnerability with Russian energy dependence that China may not want their energy supply being interrupted, controlled mostly by Russia and used as leverage against them geopolitically.
If Russia pretended technical problems or openly turned off the gas to China that sets up some scenarios.
