Just confirmed by Joe Quesada on The Colbert Report.

In "Captain America" by Rick Remender #21, Steve Rogers will lose his Super Soldier Serum and no longer be able to carry on his duties. His close friend Sam Wilson, who was the first African-American superhero in comics, will take up the shield.

No it was the Iron Nail, but really they didn't explain it at all in the comic either. He just stabbed Steve with his nails/claws, then he suddenly turns into an old man, as if Shen had that power all along (unless I missed an explanation along the way).

Why not enjoy the story for what it is?

Yeah, of course nothing like this will stick forever, but it's worth enjoying if interesting stories come as a result.
I loved superior spider man and the Bucky-cap switches for what they were.

It's not like this is even a new thing, Rhodes took over for stark as iron man in the 80s.

I just find it funny. Falcon just got his big screen debut and people are like wow this dudes pretty awesome and the first thing they do is destroy his persona to make him Captain America.
