Sandland |OT| Go, Go Chasing Waterfalls!

I'm sure the chance of someone wanting to use bus feature here is near zero, but it has support for transferring PS4 save to the PS5 upgrade.

My GameStop received a grand total of four copies. I am convinced that the company is no longer in the business of selling games. There is probably some executive scheme to milk the company and leave it bankrupt.

Eating lunch then I am diving in!

Got to having a jump bot this weekend before I had to leave for work week again.

Really dig everything it’s doing. I think my biggest surprise with it is the music. It captures a fantastic vibe of this world.

I expect this will underperform and be deemed a bomb by the publisher/developer, but I hope they know they made something top notch in the space of anime/manga games.

Cut scenes and camera angles are especially surprising how well they are done.

I couldn't figure out why this thread wasn't showing in a search. Then I realized that the title here is "Sandland" instead of the correct "Sand Land" (with a space).

I thought the game was almost over, but apparently not!

Someone said this reminded them of Blaster Master, and that is spot on. You can get out of your vehicle, and sometimes you need to, but you never really want to. I wish there were more areas that disallowed vehicles. It's fun to beat dudes up.

I think I started out playing this game "wrong". The game really wants you to just do the main story and whatever side quests you come across. It isn't made for you to go out searching for ruins or doing side quests that are out of the way. The main story will take you to the, eventually.

I just had the classic thing where the story made me return to a cave that I had already explored on my own and completely cleared out. So I end up repeating a cavern devoid of loot just to grab a quest item.

I really wish Rau would stop repeating the same things over and over and over and over. I also never want to hear "if we had a bot that could jump" since we've had one since like two hours into the game.

Despite this topic being dead and the title still mis-spelled, I am here to report that, 52 hours later, the game is complete. There is still a lot of random stuff I could do around the world, but I don't see a reason to do it other than just for the fun of it. So, I will do a bit more and retire once the fun has worn off.

This could, quite honestly, be the GOTY for me, even over Stellar Blade.

It's early game for me still, I haven't reached Spino yet.

What stuff can I easily sell? I have ore, exoskeletons and so on. The game doesn't make it very clear if I should sell the skeletons. I googled it and found a Gamespot piece of text saying it's fine to sell it. However the game says it's used for forging special alloys.

What to do?

I basically sold everything that I had in excess of 20-40 or so. Anything worth keeping will be rare and you won't have many of them. Also, as you play through the story, the merchants start selling more and more rare components.

One thing really pisses me off. How spoken dialogue gets repeated over, and over and over and fucking over again. When I grab materials Beelzebub says the same shit way too often, it should take much longer before I hear it again. And don't get me started on chatter by team members and how often it's repeated. What dev in their right mind thinks that's a good idea?

Jesus.

50 hours in and I was still hearing "if we had a bot that could JUMP". So, yeah, it was absurd.

Yeah, seriously, just wtf! Or at times the sheriff says there are tracks and we should follow them. Except there are no tracks. This is all repeated dialogue that happened early game.

The weird thing is, I entered a crashed battleship yesterday and throughout the whole journey there they didn't say SHIT. Ah the quiet was bliss. They really should have provided an option (like High on Life has) or just patched it the fuck out by now.

We've been exploring all over this map, entering caves, every little thing you can explore and Thief goes explaining how we should really explore everywhere, who knows what we might find. And Beelzebub goes "really? Wow." broooo I can't. 😭😐

Holy shit, Sand Land is NOT a short game.

Earlier this week I got to a part in the story where I thought “damn, it feels like I’m nearing the end.” well I was way off.

This game holds some very nice surprises. I find it a lovely game. It’s like a big journey with two friends, it feels great and it’s fun as hell. A lot of things are done extremely well. I kinda want to say…where did this come from? Often games based on anime/manga aren’t that great, right? What a nice surprise this one.

Very likeable characters too. I've said it before but it's not fair Toriyama is not here to see all this. We could have gotten many more lovely creations from him too.
