Donkey Kong Bananza |OT| Red Faction Gorilla

Makes you wonder if it'll be twice as big as Odyssey in content given SMO was 5.6 GB.
For most part file size has no indication how big the game is gonna be.

There are linear games which has big file size mostly because of high quality cutscenes.

The OT title is fine but

good OT Topher Topher

Plot Twist: This thread is the game

Wow, what if you embedded the entire rom in the gif metadata. I think it could be done! Kinda like how the Spore creature creator worked.

Topher Topher You know what they say, it's not the size of the gifs that count, it's what platform they are on.
A game made for the humblest of consoles, with an OT that requires a PCMR rig to display properly. The irony!

Probably will be big regardless. I wonder if the Odyssey team will top SMO's postgame. SMO is huge.

Bit weird that this comes out in a week and the only other confirmed switch 2 game is that Splatoon spinoff. No mention of a direct, or of an MKW collaboration.

August has Kirby expansion and Drag X Drive and that's going to be it. September will likely have something first party new but they want the excitement to be on DKB atm. We could see a direct in late July/early August.

Great OT, Topher Topher .

Review Embargo:

Different sources are saying different things regarding the review embargo - some claim it's the day before launch, others say due to a day-1 patch we won't be getting any reviews before launch.

A Nintendo created Switch 2 exclusive.

I had forgot the wheelchair game but I'm not going to ever play that.

There's also Kirby Air Riders and the new Hyrule Warriors, but I agree that we pretty clearly need some announcements soon.

Even setting aside unannounced games, there are almost no games with release dates beyond next month, including third party titles. The initial Switch 2 Direct seemed to be designed to only provide dates through the end of August.

It's really just Hyrule Warriors since Air Riders has no gameplay shown.

All the other games were either going to be Switch 1 games or have a Switch 1 component like game share.

We haven't really seen a game built specifically for the Switch 2 from the getgo.

Though with a bunch of games having tentative 2025 or This Winter placeholders these games may as well be releasing in 2026.

I was just listing announced first party Switch 2 exclusives. I wasn't making any judgments about how those games would take advantage of the hardware.

I totally agree. In fact, we now have confirmation that Bananza also started development as a Switch 1 title, thanks to the recent IGN developer interview, so we really haven't seen a title built from the ground up for the platform.

Yeah, Age of Imprisonment could very well be an early 2026 game, since Nintendo explicitly decided to go with "This Winter" instead of "Winter 2025." It really feels like a January or February title to me, though I could be wrong.

Terrific OT! Great work, Topher Topher !

I'm kinda coasting right now (just saved my cat from a cascade liver failure), but Bonanza is my first conteder for a game, that justifies Switch 2 purchase.

Day 1 or not Day 1... really tempting to play something else on my Switch 2 than MKW oder Zelda BotW which are the only games I am playing on Switch 2 at the moment.

I want to be excited but I'm not, unfortunately. It looks kind of boring to be honest. Like a less interesting Mario Odyssey with sharper textures and worse art direction. Environmental destruction also doesn't look like a game changer in the footage I've seen.

This is just my opinion, I'm not trying to take away from anyone else's excitement. I was a big fan of the OG Switch and I just don't understand the hype yet. I hope all that will change in time.

Nice OT. The hype for this is mental. I haven't felt this hyped for a Nintendo game since maybe Odyssey

And look who made this game? A studio from the same studio that made Odyssey :)

Yeah, that's fair -- there's also Hyrule Warriors (which is partner developed) and Kirby Air Riders (which we haven't seen anything of yet) but yeah, they need to get some announcements out soon. Which they will. Just need to be patient -- we have the biggest, most AAA Nintendo release since TOTK coming out in less than a week. If we get to this point in August and still haven't had a direct or sniff of any other announcements I'll start getting a bit annoyed...

Regardless of the platform it was developed for (or Switched to) it will be inventive and ooze quality design.

It's a game from Nintendo…future Game of The Year winners will probably spend 40 seconds of the acceptance speech praising it.
