A MGSV spoiler cast with alcohol? I will be avoiding this like the goddamn plague. At least Pat has his expectations in check for the ending.

I'm going to be annoyed if we get anything other than unbridled rage. I want Matt and Pat to just go nuts.

If Matt dislikes the first half of MGSV then he is going to despise the latter half. And you know something is fucked up when "Keeping your expectations in check" is expecting it to be super shitty.

bad gameplay lol
God, it is taking me forever to get through this Undertale section of the podcast. Then it ends and Pat starts talking about TNG and I'm like "Yeahhhhh finally I can be interested again" then Woolie steers it back to Undertale and goddamnit.

I don't see Matt even finishing MGSV. He just doesnt like long games in general. He'll most likely just look up the ending or just not care.

Netflix and TNG talk is the worst for me and i skipped undertale cuz im playing it. But then they brought it back to SFV and everything was great again.

I listened to the undertale talk despite not having played it, and I thought I had made a mistake. Then I woke up and realized copious amounts of weed, dayquil, tylenol, and other home remedies, I remember next to none of what they said.

TNG talk has convinced me to finally watch TNG.

I did catch the end of it while i was skipping when Pat asked for scores. In short:

Pat 8/10
Liam 7/10 or 8/10 (without finishing it)
Matt 10/10 (without finishing it)
Woolie 9.5/10

Its kind of interesting that two that play so few RPGs like it much more than the two that play a lot of them.

That's super common in my experience with games like this. Games kinda similar to Paper Mario and Barkley. They enjoy the simple shit, shortness, and the clever writing more than they care for lengthy, difficult, or well thought out JRPG stories.

I'm usually all for the super long JRPGS but still loved Undertale, maybe I'm an exception.

Maybe it has to do with me hating Final Fantasy.

I don't know if I'd read too much into it since i was just making an observation. I definitely fall into the Liam/Pat side of playing my fair share of RPGs as well.

Either way i just got an extension on my paper so ill be sure to put time into Undertale and finish it by the weekend so i can listen to the discussion and compare it to my own thoughts as well.

I played a good share of jrpgs with big ass stories, still loved undertale as well, mostly because it came in, did what it wanted to do quasi perfectly and elegantly and then exited. Honestly in a year of superhuge games, it's a nice change. Plus for the lot of long jrpgs i love from persona 4 G to older final fantasies, their length aren't always serviceable as more often than not the middle section is pretty forgettable or padded with a ton of bullshit or farming

Kinda, although let's be honest these shorter games actually tend to have better thought out stories than regular JRPGs.

I hope they eventually play Windjammers for FNF. It's really not a stretch to include it in there. It'd also help since it would correct Pat on one of the many things he continues to be willfully and ignorantly wrong about.

"It's about soccer and I don't like soccer"
"No, it isn't"
"Well, you have to line up your shots and I don't like lining up shots"
"No, you don't. Do you like NHL 94? It's like that."
"NHL 94 sucks because there's no blood. NHL 93 is better."

End of discussion

Do they go into Undertale spoilers in the latest podcast? Would like to avoid that.

Some people say they do so I'd just avoid it until you play the game later.

It's from about 1:09:00 to 1:40:00ish. Just skip ahead when you hear them start to talk about it.

Kinda bums me out that SBFgaf hates the TNG talk, when it's hilarious and a wonderful counterpoint to Woolie and Liam constantly shitting on adults for not Leeroy Jenkins'ing it against the kids and Monokumas.

That said, Woolie and Liam do have a good point: Japanese media tends to make killing all the people on the bad guy side look super justified, then tries to portray it as bad and it never works.

TNG talk is fantastic because I've binged on that series more than once, so I can actually tell what episodes Pat usually talks about unless it's one of the recurring themes like the Troi mind-fucking.

I just don't care about Star Trek. I'm sure the talks are great, but I usually just zone out when its them talking about episodes and I have no idea or care about what's going on.

Same here. It's kind of a bummer that they didn't mention Klingon stuff besides Worf getting his back broken, because Klingons are pretty entertaining when written well.

I'm pretty down for any TNG talk. Got enough going on that it's super easy and fun to abstract parts.

As far as Undertale, I feel like the entire fanbase is really dragging the source material down when people act so shitty to a dissenters. And more on SBF-topic, I don't think they should've had that discussion before Liam and Matt finished it.

IIRC they don't have that much of a presence in TNG, but more in DS9? I mean I know Worf comes back in DS9, but I feel like there was a lot more once the war began.

I think there are more Klingon episodes in DS9, but most of the TNG ones are game changers in terms of Klingon politics or set up the groundwork for Klingon characterization. There's a bunch of DS9 episodes where Klingons are just kind of there, partly due to the Dominion War making them into fairly regular presence.

Can we vote today's Vessel Shitstorm video,
Albino Lullaby
, for a full playthrough? This shit's pretty neat. Also, I like the
second intro for the Shitstorm.

Maybe they mentioned it somewhere already but does anyone know if they're going to play the Telltale Minecraft game despite it being both Minecraft and Telltale?

Man that opening song is really good. Origins is probably the only SH I've seen nothing of. Going by the video it just seems like a really average version of classic SH.

Its just 'ehhhhhhh'. Impressive for a hand held game and it at least tries harder than later Silent Hills but some really stupid mechanics and a duff story that undermines SH1 hold it back.

I think Woolie or Matt has said recently on the podcast that they're done with Telltale.

Right, DS9 made the call on those changes that happened in TNG.

I need to binge DS9 again.

Yeah I figured it wasn't too great. Too bad Pat doesn't feel strongly towards SH4, I'd like to see them play through it.

Woolie was being the biggest shit in the latest DR LP on vessel.

"WHY CANT YOU JUST MOVE THESE 8 TON SHIPPING CONTAINERS WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!??

really...come on.

Yeah, he's actively just being a massive irritance in later parts. The game itself is getting better and some of the complaints are not without warrant, but a lot of the time in recent parts he's been complaining just for the sake of complaining.

Got Undertale today. Gotta say, pretty eh going into it. But, not even an hour in it's originality is quite welcome. And it's charm is quite apparent.
I'm kinda torn cause I want to kill things, just to see what the combat's' like, but I know I shouldn't. Tell me, does killing the dummy at the beginning count as a kill, so I can stop worrying about it all together?

Yes, it counts.

I've never seen the PSP version of Silent Hill Origins, so I have to wonder how many of the effects in the PS2 version are in the PSP version. Pat makes it sound as if a lot are there, but reflections or bleeding walls would seem pretty nuts for a PSP game.

I also think it's weird that Pat dislikes/doesn't care for SH4 that much. I don't care much about SH in general, but I'd take the ideas of SH4 over the averageness of Origins theoretically if one we're to be LP'd. SH4 does so many weird things with the environment, holes, and the room in general that make it super interesting to me. The escort shit of it and unkillable ghosts though? Throw it out the window.

Edit- Also holy fuck, the game is dark.

Maybe they mentioned it somewhere already but does anyone know if they're going to play the Telltale Minecraft game despite it being both Minecraft and Telltale?

I really doubt they're up for more Telltale after all the telltale playthroughs they've done. I also don't think they care about Minecraft at all, so a game about it is more eh.
