t was confirmed today that Arnold Schwarzenegger will star opposite Sylvester Stallone in the action-thriller The Tomb, which will be directed by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström.

An Emmett-Furla Films/Mark Canton production, the film is produced by Atmosphere Entertainment chairman Mark Canton (300, Immortals), Randall Emmett (Lay the Favorte, Rambo), George Furla (Lay the Favorite, Rambo), Robbie Brenner (Machine Gun Preacher, A Perfect Getaway), and Kevin King-Templeton (The Expendables, Rambo, Rocky Balboa). Emmett/Furla Films is financing the project. Summit holds worldwide distribution rights to The Tomb and will release the film in North America.

Written by Miles Chapman for the screen, with a rewrite by Jason Keller, The Tomb follows Ray Breslin (Stallone) who is the world’s foremost authority on structural security. He’s analyzed every high security prison and has gained a vast array of survival skills. But all Ray’s ingenuity and knowledge are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he's ever faced: escaping from the master prison of his own design.

Schwarzenegger, in the role of Church, plays a complex inmate with multiple shades of grey. He’s the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive.

The Tomb, which Brenner had originally set up as a spec script at Summit will be shot in Louisiana this spring.

"I am thrilled to be making 'The Tomb' with two film icons – Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger," said producer Mark Canton. "It is the perfect pairing for this high octane thriller. Robbie Brenner, Emmett/Furla, Kevin King-Templeton and I have been working long and hard with Summit to bring them together for this dynamic project."

From Arnies Twitter.

After all the action, stunts & physical abuse shooting The Expendables 2 and The Last Stand, it was time for a little tune up on my shoulder. Look who was coincidentally waiting in line behind me for his shoulder surgery. Now we're ready for another round of great times and action when we shoot The Tomb.

All you guys complaining about their age, can go ahead and enjoy your Ryan Reynold/Zac Effron/Shia LeBeoufffff movies.

The real bros will gladly take Sly Arnie movies until they are 90.

Pfft. Nobody is a bigger Arnold fan than me. But just fucking look at them, man. It depresses me every time I see Arnold these days. It's like finding out your dad isn't invincible and is instead becoming a frail old man. Because that IS what is happening.

Arnold will always have been the greatest action hero to grace the screen, but all he is doing now is tarnishing that image.

Arnold might not be a drama-pushing actor and yes, he did mostly rely on his amazing physique to get famous, but he's always had charisma. There's just something about him that is hard to describe. He pulls people in... even shit movies like TWINS and Last Action Hero.

I think with the right kind of scripts/films (not saying this will be one, necessarily), I still think Arnold can be very effective. Stallone seems to be embracing his transformation into an old hulking brute of pain and violence, so hopefully he can keep that going for a while. At times in the newest RAMBO the guy was like an un-undead Jason Voorhees (sans the mask)... just a wrecking ball of painfully brutal deaths, man.

I would love to see Cameron use Schwarz again... maybe somewhere in Battle Angel if both aren't dead yet. :p

Came here to post something like this........

It's so depressing to see how old Arnold is. I mean he's ok in this picture and looks great for his age but I remember him in Conan.

When will they fix the process of aging? :(

I'm watching anything with Arnold. I would watch a terrible cgi-infested jump-scare movie shot Blair Witch style with Arnold.

I am surprised so many of you are against them making movies. What is wrong with you?
They are real men to the day they die. And you can throw Clint in there too.

I don't get all the hate here sometimes. We need more love in all the threads. Have we all become that jaded???????????

Did you just call LAST ACTION HERO shit? Fuck you, asshole.

I think Last Action Hero was a great movie (if only for the simple fact that the title resonates), but otherwise I agree with you. There's something about Arnold and there's still one last great part for him to be played I think. I hope.

"DAYMIT DAT HU'T!"

favorite scene in the whole movie. That and any scene with Charles Dance or the chick from Billy Madison, because that was right around the age I discovered my penis.*
Little mushroom haircut kid ruined it for me. Ruined the whole damn thing.

*that was directly related to Billy Madison girl. Sorry, Charles "Chuck" Dance.

Arnold looks awesome with grey hair and beard. Probably his first "yeah I'm old and I accept it" role, who knows?, could be cool if the direction is good.

Seriously, the more I look at this ... the more I realize how bad ass he looks. In Expendables 2, he basically looked like a caricature of his old self. With the grey and goatee ... he looks damn awesome.

He definitely needs to run with this look.

RIP

They both two of my favorite actors of the 80s. :( Sad that time catches up to everyone but your bodies just start to shut down in your 60s.
