Seattle-GAF!

Yeah man, I was not in a good mood. Feeling a lot better today after some sleep and hearing Russell/Pete's press conferences though. Looking forward to next year.

We have nothing else to look for unless you want to count Soccer.

Having lived in the SF Bay Area for the vast majority of the time that I've been in the US, I'm a Niner's fan so, unlike the rest of Seattle-GAF, I can't say I'm all that unhappy about the Hawks losing.

That said, I can definitely understand what it's like to have a sports team that sucks. I only really got into American football around 2001 (coming from Scotland before that, I was a huge F1 fan) and from 2001-2010 the Niners just tore themselves apart. We had good players but could never get any sort of consistency to team performances. Jeff Garcia gave way to Alex Smith to Trent Dilfer to J.T. O'Sullivan (...really?) to Shaun Hill and, briefly, Troy Smith. Like I said, we still had standout performances from certain players but the rest was crap. So, yeah, I do understand what it's like to have a team go from years of grinding nothing to actual achievement and then have them fall short in a game like you had today.

However, you guys can take comfort in the fact that you have a young team and one that's only going to get better from here on out. Assuming that the Rams keep developing, the NFC West is looking exciting for the first time that I can remember (...let's ignore the Cardinals.)

Or you could just summarize that by simply saying: Mike Singletary.

Has anyone adopted a dog in the area? Any respectable breeders/rescues you'd recommend? I went to the Seattle Humane Society in Bellevue like 4 months ago but there weren't many dawgs there (which is great for dogs in the area! less good for me).

Check out Petco in the U District. Dunno if they have dog adoptions now, but I've seen them do it before, and Petco always works with good shelters. The one in Kirkland for example always works with PurrfectPals for cat adoptions - a non-profit no-kill shelter. They require a $100 minimum donation for kittens, and for that $100 all adopted kittens are spayed/neutered, get the right immunizations, and many other services that would otherwise be very expensive.

We adopted a cat from here:

http://www.pasadosafehaven.org/

They handle like crazy rescue cases.

Our cat was from this case that was all over the news:

http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/2-arrested-in-granite-falls-animal-cruelty-case/nKRKg/

He's one crazy mofacking cat but we love him.

They are out sort of deep in Monroe/Snohomish but they have a large property with tons of animals. They do a lot of adoptions to Seattle, they send someone out to check out your place to make sure it's fit for the animal.. and if it doesn't work out they encourage you to give the animal back to them.

I am BACK! On the drive from Seatac to Capitol Hill, no less than three drivers tried to kill me. Didn't miss that aspect of Seattle.

Yeah, I could do that if I wanted to be completely wrong. Mike Singletary was there from mid 2008-2010. He didn't really introduce a lot of the problems I talked about, he just did jack all to solve them.

He did us a solid by turning around Vernon Davis and drafting Crabtree though.

Remember that they have the single worst parking situation in ALL OF CHRISTENDOM. Three parking spots for an entire Petco and a Mac store. On a street with no street parking.

You know you can park in the pay lot across the street for free, right?

The very same lot I puked my guts out in after a party years and years ago around 2am. Couldn't make it another 20 blocks to our house, so my wife pulled into that lot and let er rip. Remember kids, tang and PBR is a very bad idea when you're drunk at a white trash themed birthday party.

Yes, he was at the tail-end, but it took Harbaugh to turn that team around, so in my eyes with regards to "recent" history I place the blame on him. That and the years he was around the 49ers were just plain terrible.

Yeah it's not even a pay lot. It's a free lot, easy access, close enough. Don't see what the big deal is.

Mind blown. There is a pay station in it AND warning signs. I assume you guys are right because I never stopped to read them properly. You mean the west side lot right?

It's actually a pay lot, but if you're shopping at Petco or the Mac Store, you don't have to pay.

edit. Everyone is sort of right. Still, this is big. Cat won't stop shitting and eating. It's a vicious cycle.

I've only ever parked there for Petco, so I never even noticed the pay station :p

The Mac store is nice. I grabbed an iPad there when they were sold out everywhere else and their prices are better on accessories. BUT they don't have the company discount I get. I assume the club directly opposite is basically a crack disco.

It's an 18 and over club. People have been shot there. Shady as fuck.

Was surprised to find out that Easy Street Records is closing the Queen Anne store soon. This is an iconic shop, and even though I don't really care for shopping there (I'm a Silver Platters guy or occasionally one of the little places on Capitol Hill), it's going to be a big loss to the area.

Yo La Tengo is playing the last free show on Friday.

Anyone else hear the loud, low flying jet about an hour ago? I guess an Alaskan flight was escorted into SeaTac...

I thought it was the TV upstairs. Weird. anything on the news? I assume a drunk from some shithole being an idiot. I'm going to go ahead and guess Eastern Washington.

Edit: Bitter ex from Hawaii. Or super douchebag prank.

into Sea-Tac; FBI detains passenger

Two F-15 jets guided an Alaska Airlines flight from Hawaii into Sea-Tac International Airport tonight after someone told the Federal Bureau of Investigations that a passenger was a possible hi-jacker.

According to the Port of Seattle, the FBI detained one passenger after Flight 819 from Kona, Hawaii, landed safely around 7 p.m. with no one injured. K-9 units checked the plane after landing, according to Port spokesman Perry Cooper.

Cooper also said no situation during the flight prompted the elevated security landing.

The detained passenger was named as a security threat by someone who called the FBI this afternoon around the time the plane took off, according Honolulu-based FBI agent Tom Simon. He said the passenger is being interviewed by FBI agents in Seattle to see if he was indeed a security threat.

If not, the FBI will turn its investigation toward the person who called in to say the passenger was a threat.

“Making a prank call like that is a federal crime,” Simon said. ”If this turns out to be a hoax, this will be turned into evidence against that person.”

Wow that is not going to end well for the hoaxer if that was indeed a hoax.

Do they really need 2 F-15 for that?
Do they see a situation where a passenger plane can beat one of them in a dogfight?

Those babies cost 30k per hour to run.

It's probably more of having eyes on both sides of the plane rather than the thought that a 737 could outmaneuver an F15.
